  1. Freo's mids are nowhere near as damaging as Port's. Disappoiinting coaching we let them win with their 1-wood last week. (You had one job!) This week Freo shouldnt kick 12 goals if our defense are a top 4 team. Pllease pay Lachie Schultz attention. They've never lost a game where he's kicked 3+ (8 times) and were an absurd 19-2 in games he's kicked 2+ before this year. (3-2 this year). The kid can play and he brings energy when he's on.
  2. Based on current ladder positions we play 5 of the bottom 8 teams the last 5 rounds. Some of these 6 days breaks are going to be 12 with a bit of mid season form....
  3. No question the stress of this would have affected his coaching and he knows this. So he's stepped away like a professional would. Of course being 2 and 7 is not helping but neither would being 7 and 2. Tying any of this to norf's on field performance is way off imo.
  4. I reckon he would find it professionally insulting that people would link this to the performance of Norf. He isn't delusional. As if Norf was in the 8 it would be any different with the mud thats been thrown at him.
  5. I think that's exactly right. As a result, Petty aint going back even if he has a stinker or two. The game is faster now that teams have adapted to the Stand rule.
  6. Do AFL computer games have an "agiilty" metric for players? He would be 100 out of 100. 33 years young and running rings around 22 yr olds.
  7. This last point was specifically mentioned by May in the Demonland interview. He even rattlled off a stat about how our scoring from back 50 is competition's best due to the smaller, quicker structure and asked Lever to confirm it. So its something they have now trained for and I daresay is going to stay unless the opposition has 3 genuine talls (which is also something May effectively said).
  8. Its amusing to compare the amount of respect GCS got in the pre match thread with the lack of respect they get in the post match thread. 4 points against a tough contested team away from home, great result.
  9. Who are his closest mates at the club and what does he enjoy doing away from football? He might open up on a good story or two
  10. B: HOWES SCRIMSHAW MAYNARD HB : BOWEY FROST MCGRATH C: PERKINS BRAYSHAW WINDHAGER HF: LYONS KING SMITH F: OWENS KING AMARTEY FOLL: MCLEAN SHEEZEL ASHCROFT 20th team. The AFL Sandringham Dragons. Recuitment not an issue at least
  11. Such a good speaker. He's got AFL coach written all over him. His cadence is already spot on.
  12. Smart players work it out. Gus is a competitor. Daicos doesnt win 40 touches cause he's fast. He's smart and knows where and when to run to collect easy kicks.
  13. The best player on our list for this is Brayshaw, not Harmes. Whenever the FD gives him a role his football brain works it out. He completely nullified Stringer. Daicos is quick but he doesnt get 40 touches and goals cause he is a physical speciman. Brayshaw will cut down angles and nullify his influence.
  14. Players can and do avoid social media as much as their wont. Constant, weekly booing is just a form of bullying. Group of 10yr olds do it. But if it makes you feel better, go for it children. Blind hypocrisy here. On one hand plenty of AFL fans say that they apparently care about mental illness but then totally oblivious that they might be part of the problem when they pile on repeatedly beyond once or twice.
  15. I feel for Longmuir. He had a decent young list, 2 guaranteed wins against the mortal enemy and depth. Now he has weak contests forward of the ball, a bottom 6 finish and no draft picks. To rub salt in the wound, can we make a play for Jye Amiss in coming years. Kid can take a grab.
  16. Great interview. This kid is a gun. Great 3 step acceleration, contest work, decIsion making and is an above average kick. Reminds me of Jadyen Short who also came off the rookie draft. I think the FD is going to realise in coming years he's wasted down back.
  17. 5 final quarters this year its MFC 173 Opposition 76 Ordinarily you could say there will be mean reversion but watching Trac Viney, and Oliver at the end of this game (and Brisbane) they were absolutely flying. Last week it was Jordan. The midfield is super fit and take a lot of pride in playing until the end. We will not be outrun in last halves this year.
  18. To the naked eye, Oliver and Petracca played their absolute guts out in that last quarter. Olivers last in particular was off the charts. 20 possessions. Petracca was throwing himself into everything. In fact, the whole team never dropped their heads but Essendons marking and matchups were a problem for 45 minutes and wrestled contol away. Fair credit to them. I think a loss like that will reinforce we probably need another key back in the draft.
  19. Ironically, it was the opposite. Long got 4 matches of which 3 were served through the preseason. Wallis got 3 weeks and was playing round 1, 2001. Long would be getting 12 weeks for that now. Iirc, he apologised at the time but it wasnt accepted by Simmonds.
  20. Prepare the eggs. My face is ready. This kid has massive bust written all over him. Daicos and Ashcroft were 30 to 40 disposal a week, fitness freaks with clean disposal. They were a class above. All I see repeatedly is a kid who wants to take on tackles. He will last about 6 minutes when he doesnt see the extra tackle coming at AFL level and get pinged. If thats his 1-wood, buyer beware.
  21. Most hated team. Their supporters, who always seemed to number more than necessary whilst growing up during the 80s and 90s, were smug and nasty. We havent given them a proper smashing in decades. This is the time. Their tails are slightly up, there's a glimmer of belief that this season and their team might be ok. I hope we belt them by 15 goals in biblical rain.
  22. Merrett, Parish, Draper and Shiel are no mugs. Show them respect early. Few times this year opposition midfields have roamed freely (syd game the exception). We rightly back ours to beat theirs but if those Dons midfielders gets easy uncontested ball it will be a lot closer than it needs to be.
  23. You start the year's best thread and then select a Fremantle player to cheer for. That's on you.
  24. This is simply not true. Glouftsis bounces the ball and did bounce the ball om the weekend. In fact, Id argue she bounced it better on the day than some of her counterparts. Grundy was even rolling his eyes at a few of the centre bounces being recalled back. It might be recency bias but the quality of the bouncing has been appalling this year. As for the umpiring, i agree it was pretty sub standard on Sunday but most of the missed decisions were not Glouftsis'. Her unpiring was actually pretty spot on. Early in her career she made errors for sure but she has been more consistent in her decision making and is a good umpire imo.
  25. Lets focus on what's important here. Knocking down Freo another rung. Thanks Port
