2022 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Excellent. Tsatas was an early favourite going back well over a year and I have a feeling that his quality will show out on Thursday (I'm assuming he's fit and selected for the Vic Metro team). My question to you is where would you like to see the MFC placed after trading Luke Jackson, any other trades and draft picks?

From the vault
But were we a better team for having a galah playing for us even with his 75 goals?

2022 VFL Team of the Year
Considering how Casey dominated the season they should have had more players in the Team of the Year.

Between the Flags - a great new book on the MFC
Take it from me (and with a name like mine I should know something about literature), Ian Munroâs book is a bloody good read and worthy as a Fatherâs Day gift to any Demon Dad. Itâs in the Non Fiction Top 10 of the Avenue Booksellers most popular books. Up there with the best!

Welcome to Demonland: Jacob Van Rooyen
Me also - I've seen different reports that have him at between 193cm and 195cm and most go back to the beginning of last year. At some stage when he gets picked to make his debut, no doubt the club will disclose the latest figures and we'll know more. He definitely looks no shorter than the Weid who is listed at 195cm.

2022 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Thereâs a big game later today at Werribee between a Colgate Young Guns team and the Vic Metro U18s. The Colgate team is made up mainly of overage players eligible for the forthcoming AFL Mid-Season Rookie Draft while the Metro team will not be at full strength because it doesnât contain some of the Metro boys playing schools footy. Should still be a good game.

2022 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Another good display from Finn Emille-Brennan with 22 touches for the Dandenong Stingrays against Bendigo Pioneers at Bendigo. Too early to say whether he makes top 40 in the draft but another Stingray in Mitch Szybkowski surely will. He racked up 33 possessions and was very impressive. Mitch trained at Melbourne in the off season.

Dustin Martinâs father passes away
Shane Martin who was deported to NZ in 2016 has passed away at the age of 54. I donât want to reflect on the individual but itâs another tough episode in a difficult year for Richmond superstar Dustin Martin.

Getting Real Value Out Of The Draft
Itâs probably more of a raffle in 2021 than it has been since the early days of the draft. There are so many unknowns about and a few scream out to be selected. At the end of the day, itâs the midfield thatâs safest.

Pardon me but on what planet did I cite âa national weakness of Sudanese sports people as weak competitorsâ? WJ questioned Mac Andrewâs tank in a post above and said that the lack of a national championships and combine testing meant that this question wasnât satisfactorily answered. Thatâs a point (and I agree with him) but itâs not the one I made that youâre questioning above. Mine is that the rule change is water under the bridge and itâs a waste of time complaining about it 12 months after it was brought in.

How do you expect Melbourne to fight the rule changes twelve months after theyâve been put into place? To do so now that we have an NGA who might be taken early would seem a case of sour grapes and totally unbecoming of a premiership club. I donât think we should be whinging about it now, apart from which itâs worth remembering that thereâs no guarantee that we would have matched a bid for him if he was nominated as early as weâre led to believe some clubs might go to claim him.
