The Orlando Turner Thread
Orlando Turner is a lightly built small forward who is in Melbourne’s NGA through our Alice Springs connection. PROFILED | The 2023 title-winning Allies squad #20 Orlando Turner Small Forward | 16/05/2005 | 176cm | 67kg A National Academy member with nice upside and a bag of tricks, Turner helped ensure the Northern Territory would be aptly represented in the carnival with his two games. He was rotated after gathering six disposals in game one, but returned in game four against Vic Country and booted two goals from eight touches – the second of which both iced the game and the title.

2023 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
That would be Cooper Simpson. I was wondering what happened to him.

Harley Reid
North came close to beating a top 8 side in St Kilda and they nearly knocked off the Bombers when they played them. They’ve been struggling but not enough to be gifted a top five player in addition to their pick 2. If anyone needs special assistance this year based on performance, it’s the Eagles.

AFL Under 18 Championships 2023
Hoping we can parlay pick 4 and our other top picks including possibly future round 1 into 2023 pick 1 for Reid, leaving us with 23 as well, a later pick or rookie for Kynan Brown plus Orlando Turner as a rookie selection. That gives us a very solid draft plus we still have some untried talent like Jefferson, Howes, Adams, Sestan, Moniz-Wakefield, Deakyn Smith and Will Verrall coming through the ranks at Casey.

PREGAME: Rd 20 vs Richmond
As I understand it, Grundy was locked in to play for Casey one more time so that’s where he plays again this week. Nobody has explained to me why the Petty to key forward experiment was abandoned after he did so well before he was injured in the first half vs Hawthorn. He plays there in place of BBB this week. Bowey looked injured in yesterday’s game and it would not surprise if he was declared unfit for a couple of weeks due to a flesh wound or other mystery ailment. To be replaced by Hibberd who was outstanding in the VFL. In summary: In: Hibberd, Petty Out: Bowey (injured), Brown (omitted)

CASEY: Rd 17 BYE
Some info on the game gleaned through the social media • The game between Melbourne and St Kilda was played at Casey Fields. • It was 15 a side and a couple of Demons were loaned to the Saints to help make up numbers. • Brodie Grundy was stationed at deep forward but roamed the ground as the game went on. He kicked one goal, had nine kicks, seven handballs and six marks. • Kade Chandler was the star of the game, Michael Hibberd showed no signs of discomfort as he returns from a kidney injury and James Harmes worked hard through the midfield.

Goal kicking accuracy 2023
Ironically, the only player on the list with >50% accuracy is playing for the Casey Demons this weekend.

The club suspension is in fact an omission to the Gold Coast Ressies vs Port Melbourne today (which might have happened anyway). Just a game today.

JvR Free!!!
I’m not sure by what right the AFL had to sanction Brad Green for speaking the truth but if there’s been a financial sanction, we should all kick in whatever’s necessary to ensure he’s not out of pocket. I think everyone at the club should be buoyed by the support JvR received from the club, the players including many former players, the supporters and most of the football world. I reckon this is the sort of experience that will help JvR mature and grow as a player before our very eyes.

Sliding doors. Voss coach of Carlton. McRae coach of Collingwood. What might have been if it was the other way around.
