  1. Thats like saying the Germans were happy with how they were going in WW11 before they lost the war. Absolute rubbish.
  2. Look for the Power Clubs to come calling on more players than Rivers after this season. petracca for one. The dream is over.
  3. If I hear people like AF talking about the full press and all that goes with it again I will spew. Tonight, all the commentators had it right, less handball, kick down the line, pressure and goal.
  4. The only positive I can see is Goody found his bottle of water. Half way through the last quarter you see himm with phone in hand, he looks puzzled, slightly annoyed. he goes to speak but decides against it. Two minutes later you can see he discided to act. he stood up and got a bottle of water. Shades of the scene from the Castle.
  5. There was a stoppage near the wing last game. Langdon came through the stoppage at a million miles an hour and just missed collecting the ball. It was a beautiful example of roving. i am showing my age but would say, mate, you are a rover, start roving, you are a midfield bull, start bullocking........
  6. Two years ago at the earlier game against the Cats where we lost at the end, I thought our midfield had taken the mantle from Geelong. I will stand corrected but think it was Viney/Brawshaw/Oliver V Ablett/Selwood/ Danger. We matched it with the best and they all played slightly different roles. Not sure what has happened since.
  7. Sure but the problem here is if we miss and it is 1-3 finals appearances in 4 years it is a failure irrespective of wins How do you think he would have gone at interview saying I will get you in the finals 25 per cent of the time and at the end of four years. So then do we wait another year to know what we already know if we do not make finals. Call it a sacking, sure but it would be more a case of the Club moving in another direction to obtain success.
  8. This is why I argued on another post Oliver is not an A Grader yet. The lack of coaching he gets or doesnt respect has reached its pinnacle this year where he has on occasion done a sort of jump in the air as he handballs much like a basketballer does when he has hang time and decides to pass instead of shoot. Oliver will be a grade when he commands a match at the death like Danger, Selwood, Bont and Co. Until then lets appreciate he still needs coaching and development to be great.
  9. I am not one for Mission statements but astonished that Roosy fundamentals for long term success were not laid down in stone as a blueprint that future coaches must follow. Otherwise we just paid huge dollars for a top coach for 2-3 years. What a waste.
  10. Being optomistic we finish with 10 wins. Three from three from here. Bulldogs will beat Hawks and Freo to get to 10 Saints beat either Eagles or Giants to get to 10 Giants will beat the Crows and then need one win against us and the Saints. We are $2.63 to make the eight. About right I reckon.
  11. Most AFL coaches dont have any guts. Number 1 is to protect their job and the best way to do that is follow the crowd. So the AFs of the AFL stick like glue to the current trend until somone with guts changes things and then they stick like glue to the next trend. In the end they are some caught up in it all that they have completely forgotten fundamentals like hard tackles help win big finals.
  12. Completely out of context otherwise he would have never got the dollars he did for coaching when it as if you say, irrelevant. Goes against all evidence in every sport in the world.
  13. He is too smart to be brutally honest on that score, and why should he? He was paid to play not fix the Clubs culture.
  14. It is close to impossible to fix our culture in the society of 2020. The demands the likes of Kennedy insisted upon to build a 60 year culture at the Hawks would be unreasonable today. However I think you start individually and collectively with eliminating persistent error or poor execution and attitude. To what extent you go to zero tolerance on some things is up for debate. Perhaps this is why Goody struggles. He came from a Club in adelaide that was artificially created with local players, many stars. The thing they had in common with SA was out to prove itself and they were representing a whole State. Since Ports inception it is hard to know what Adelaides culture is. And then to Essendon with its stinking, cheating culture. Years ago i would have got Dipper involved in a role at the Club. He was the perfect balance between driving standards, hard work and light heartedness. Same for Dermie and a host of other Hawks.
  15. Sadly for us Bartlett says he wants to build a home base but has achieved nothing on that score worth telling the supporters.
  16. I think Smith is a chaotic player. I dont see any evidence of him being a forward. Is it just the romance of his Dads highlight reel. He too was not a reliable forward.
  17. I am 50/50 on trying him chb and may chf. I think May could be the equal to Hogan forward and that is not easy to come by.
  18. I have said it before and had it dismissed and howled down by some. So many long time supporters here have had a raw deal following the Dees for nearly 60 years without a flag. I dont need to go over the failures in depth again for now. So following Thursdays game, the trinity, Pert, Barlett and Mahoney. Maybe the are hurting too, maybe it is a kind of blow to their professional pride but as none of them were Dees until much later in life it is a very mild version of what we are suffering. How can you hurt as much as us, those who went through their whole school and workplace lives without success. Those of us who cant bear to watch footy classics such a the Grand Final replays each year. Those of us who have lost at the punt either $$$ or fun tipping contests, Those of us who have been to grounds like Carlton on a training day, and seen a Club and supporters with something to call their own, You can add Goodwin to the trinity but some here will argure that coaches do come from other clubs, true, only remember, A South australian has never coached a non South Australian team to a flag. As of now another year will finish without finals success without a home base with significant list deficiences with a question mark over the coaches -plural ability to get the best out of our players
  19. May to CHF, back Max and the midfield. Patch up the backline, make Lever earn his money.
  20. I would keep Harmes. Look to move Brayshaw and Viney or maybe one of. Kill chicken, scare monkey/
