MCC GF ballot
I wouldn’t count on it. They make more money via ballot (and they are still trying to cover significant covid losses) and there are a lot of MCC members who prefer the ballot, even though the noisier minority would have you believe this isn’t the case

Farewell Luke Jackson
We’ve reached 2,000 posts in this thread. If we can get another 4,500 posts we’ll have as many Jacko-contract-posts as Essendon have days since their last final win

Farewell Luke Jackson
Andrew Brayshaw is currently top 5 in the comp and will be top 2 within 12 months. Freo would never let him go but I would enjoy seeing Freo fans sweat bullets if Jackson signals his intent to leave and Brayshaw is top of Melbourne’s shopping list.

CHANGES: Rd 15 vs Brisbane
Surely Gawn out means we are even more likely to lower eyes and look for a mobile target inside 50 so does that mean this is the game we introduce Van R for Mitch Brown (Weid for Gawn)? Brown/Brown/Weid feels unbalanced and invites the bomb-and-hope that we don’t want. Van R introduces a different dynamic at ground level. Edit: although MFC style is normally to announce a debutant well ahead of teams being announced and given we are 30 hours out from game time perhaps this is now unlikely

If we lose on Thursday
IF we lose four in a row AND win the flag; we will be the only team to lose 4 in a row AND and have two players get in a punch on at Entrecôte in the same season. I never thought I’d see the day.

In defence of Jake Lever
His marking game is off the boil at the moment. Come to think of it, none of them have been able to catch the thing in a contest last 4 weeks. How do they all lose that ability simultaneously??

Farewell Luke Jackson
I’d heard a rumour about Harmes to Richmond or Norf (longer contract) before this Jay Z comment so there might be something going on there…

Steven May Suspended by the Club
Chance May has taken himself down to Casey to watch the 2’s today? Perhaps a thoughtful gesture to show appreciation for a large part of the club he seemingly doesn’t value.

Steven May Suspended by the Club
Maysie clearly a bit of a ‘lad’ - loves to take the [censored] out of his mates, loves a beer and isn’t short on confidence. Gets away with it most of the time though because a) not an easy thing to confront b) footballers who lead like ’generals’ on the ground generally get praised, not told off and c) most of the time it is probably harmless. But he clearly has a lack of empathy which they need to address head on now. The Melksham comments, the sharp feedback he clearly gives to players on the ground and even an unprovoked joke he made on social media about Jake Lever needing to shave his pubic hair. You can just tell he doesn’t really understand how his comments/actions impact some people. I’ve experienced a similar person in change rooms before…. People just let it happen because the person was a good player and they didn’t want to challenge him because it would be awkward and would probably result in the bullying being focused on you… didn’t mean people weren’t desperate for it to stop though.

Farewell Luke Jackson
Goody locking in to 2024 will help him make the decision on a 2yr extension. Helps him justify why 2 years without saying ‘maybe I want to move home one day’

Christian Salem - Straight back to the backline or something different?
Wing-role in mind for him longer term?

TEAMS: Rd 01 vs Western Bulldogs
Lever ‘late test’ I saw on Twitter. Not a great sign

A Team That’s a Bit Cocky
Death, taxes and journos accusing Melbourne players of getting ahead of themselves. How long before the first Mt Buller joke?

This is Demon Spirit
Feels closer to a scene from Demon Attack * than some of the club’s more recent work. *This is by no means an insult to Demon Attack. Like Dumb & Dumber it was genius, but you just can’t recreate classics.

Maybe my heart strings got tugged a bit too hard one night in September last yr but this didn’t really do much to inspire/excite me…

Angus Brayshaw Re-Signs Until 2028
Not quite clear on our backup plan for the wing if he leaves (or is injured this year). Unless he shows drastic improvement it isn’t Baker. Rosman a project player so no guarantee there. Do you start grooming someone like Rivers for the role?

TRAINING: Friday 4th February 2022
Thanks to those who attend/write up on training. HUGELY valued. for those who attend regularly, what role have they been training Weid in? Stay at home/bring the ball to ground type or higher Up the ground? He seemed to look more comfortable getting his hands on the ball further up the ground but I just don’t think that is what we need from him.

TRAINING: Friday 28th January 2022
Form-based selection. You’re only as good as your last game 😏

COVID Disruptions 2022
This is the problem - it will rip through Perth, the only way to avoid that is keeping the joint shut which appears to be his strategy. A lot of players through the league have already contracted the virus so the hope is by the time the season comes we don’t have the disruption that is happening in the nba. Perth opens up in March both Freo & WC will have had zero players get the virus so you can just see their seasons are going to be far more at risk than anyone else’s. Get them into VIC now I say.

COVID Disruptions 2022
McGowan has delayed WA opening back up. Delaying the inevitable over there. I’d say Freo/WC would be getting nervous about having to shift interstate for a period…

Welcome to Demonland: Jacob Van Rooyen
It’s hardly a passion-project. He is employed by ESPN.

Welcome to Demonland: Jacob Van Rooyen
Apologies, my C-grade-footy-journo anger got to me again.

Welcome to Demonland: Jacob Van Rooyen
As recently as 12 months ago he was still banging on about the fact he was miffed Melbourne didn’t call out Tom Green’s name on the night. HE WASNT AVAILABLE TO US YOU TALENTLESS CLOWN.

Welcome to Demonland: Jacob Van Rooyen
Possible Knightmare has never actually seen him play… wouldn’t be the first time he’s had an opinion on a player he’s never seen
