I'd give him a 3 year deal that has clauses keeping him on the right track on and off field, providing he is over his major injuries and ready mentally. It could be beneficial for him to be around familiar faces. I agree Smith should have 2 good playing years and maybe the 3rd can be playing/assistant role, similar to Jones. Phillips should be the main target and I'd still go after Brown

The thing I've noticed about the brownlow over the years, if you had a good year previous, the umpires already know to look for you, ie. Clarry at Maxy getting plenty votes . I expect Tracc to poll even better next year, same goes with the AA
