  1. Interesting that you called people “dills” for criticising Fritsch but then go on to say “just need to work harder”. Isn’t that exactly what those people you call “dills” have been saying?
  2. OK, maybe we can all rest on our laurels of the 2021 Premiership. Seriously, at what stage do you judge Fritsch on current form ( not just goals kicked but overall effort ) and not what happened 3 years ago? Sheez (your words)
  3. It’s not about him “never going to be a hard man” , it’s about him regularly being a serious defensive liability ie. lack lustre chase, feeble tackles. This also sets a horrible example to his teammates and surely can’t be good for team morale.
  4. I’d do it but I seriously doubt Port would.
  5. Hassa, what a star, my hero, No 29. Was there when he kicked 7 , Queen’s Birthday 1967 MCG, was selected in the CENTRE lined up against Bobby Skilton. I don’t know if he actually played in the centre that day, may have been HFF, but they generally lined up as selected back in the day. If so, must be the only time a centreman has kicked 7 in a match.
  6. Pity, would have been something to behold, standing amongst Don supporters during that last qtr. Ricky Jackson was a star and very important to the success of that side. Rather under appreciated IMO. Seemed to often turn a game with his burst of magic. Then he just seemed to fade away and was gone and I never knew why. Maybe someone might know what happened to him. Enjoy tonight.
  7. I agree the margin was generally around 4 goals and Essendon definitely looked to have our measure, thought the margin got to over six goals at one stage but it was a long time ago. I have the last qtr replay on VHS ( always wanted to digitise my library but tech is not my thing) Will dust off the Video player soon and give it a watch. Jackson’s goal was from the outer pocket I seem to remember, can’t recall if it was a banana or drop punt? Also not far from where I was. Nb. IMO A Ricky Jackson clone, fast, great crumber, goal sense, x factor would be a much needed addition to our 22. Yes, Pickett has all those attributes however as a duo our forward line would be extremely potent.
  8. Ditto, standing in the outer, one of favourite MFC matches, came from about 40 points down if I recall, Essendon had our measure until late 3rd qtr when Rhode went on to Michael Long who was destroying us. Rhode then completely shut down Long, last qtr momentum was like a tidal wave, Bennent and Ricky Jackson🔥. A magnificent day I’ll never forget. If only we could have kept Bennett and Jakovich together for longer???
  9. Butters and Houston for Pickett, ANB and Sparrow ?
  10. Today’s Umpires —> Dead rubber game = Dead rubber Umpires
  11. Turner’s best asset as a forward will be/is his mobility.
  12. Necessity is the Mother or invention —-> innovation. Mr Goodwin has never been a great innovator. He surely now he will be forced down that path.
  13. If so, doesn’t that just emphasise how weak our list depth is? And why are we playing injured players?
  14. Brilliant. There are some on here that will criticise others for being too negative, being a “fair weather” supporter or even just expressing their opinion. Often it comes with an undertone suggesting “you’re not as loyal or as passionate as me”. As you have implied, anybody who regularly expresses their thoughts/ opinions , even if they are critical, must surely be passionate Demon supporters. Otherwise why would anybody waste their time?
  15. OK, but wouldn’t North Melbourne have more supporters likely to attend than GWS?
  16. - No doubt a disappointing crowd. - I don’t think it’s been mentioned but we did play GWS who would have had very few supporters who attended. What do you think the 16,000 would equate to if it was a melbourne based club ? - Your “bet” of 1 to 10 is just a wild guess, you have no way of knowing. - What’s your point about Goodwin being at the match but not more supporters ? - “Players drag themselves to the game”, wow I’m completely lost for words on that one, wild. ( Is that like the vast majority of wage earners who drag themselves off to work every day? ) -You have no idea why I or anybody else didn’t attend last night. Therefore your insinuation comparing attendance with loyalty is completely baseless. - I suggest the focus for last night’s disappointing crowd be put back on to the AFL and the MFC instead of blaming individual supporters.
  17. I would love to see Sestan given the chance to prove himself at senior level.
  18. I think your logic is sadly askew. Didn’t GWS win the game with even less supporters present ? And you know what you can do with your whimpy vomit emoji !
  19. Not only do I not need an excuse not to go to a game, I certainly don’t need to explain to you why I didn’t. Ps. We won a Grand Final with bugger all loyal MFC supporters there. Tonight’s loss was due to numerous factors, the sparse crowd was not one of them.
  20. The Game plan cupboard’s bare though. Mr Goodwin only has the one.
  21. 1 . Fullarton :- As I said at the time, it was my recollection and I stand by it. I also said I couldn’t be bothered spending more time than necessary sitting at a computer than necessary, however if you want to make an issue of it I’ll go back and find your post. I’ll get back to you. 2. To me it’s bewildering how people can claim to have an informed opinion on a game when they didn’t see it , the game that is, so agree with Kev all you like. It appears you just want to take the other side on this one. 3. Re: your dislike of the negativity expressed be people on this forum ( their opinions ) , not all of us are Cheerleaders, some are just loyal supporters who are realists and seek to analyse performance. So I’m intrigued on your thoughts as to when, or if at all, it is acceptable to you for people to express any negativity. Perhaps after the thrashings of the first two rounds of 2008, the Neeld years in general, the Kardinia park 186 , maybe VFL park v Fitzroy 238 to 48 ,1979, I sat through that one, or this year in Alice Springs ? What’s the cut off ? Any thing over a 80 point loss ? 4. If it’s “suffocating” to you, perhaps just stop reading a post if once it gets negative and it becomes too much for you. 5. FYI, I have made NO comment about the Team’s performance yesterday.
  22. Too right. According to said poster, anybody who was disappointed with that performance and expressed same is a “group thinker”. Fortunately he has also provided us with many, many deep and meaningful life coaching tips, free of charge, to help us overcome that affliction.
  23. The game of AFL/VFL football exists because of the passion people have for their clubs. Without it, the game wouldn’t exists and we’d be doing something else on our weekends in winter. It is completely understandable supporters being disappointed with a performance like that. Not to be, would IMO, be very strange.
  24. And if you had seen the game you just might understand what people are saying.
  25. You’re passing judgement, not only on the game and the player’s performances but on the opinions that others have expressed, yet you admit you didn’t see the game. Struth
