You’re a chance. The Van Djik injury has blown the title race wide open. Its anyone’s so why not Everton. Ancelotti is an excellent manager, strong midfield and Calvert-lewin looks primed. My only concern is defensively. Very dodgy keeper.

I don’t care about Geelong and Cameron. To hell with them. We’re in good shape but face a critical trade period. Get Brown and Smith. Move TMac on whatever which way we can and bring in Voss as midfield coach. Pay overs if needs be. The time is now.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
BDA replied to Dee tention's topic in Melbourne Demons
I don’t think there’s any mystery to it Axis. You don’t need to know contract specifics to understand human nature. Stands to reason that if you offer a lower chance of success you have to compensate with higher salary. Players ultimately want success or most of them do anyways (there are some mercenaries I’m sure) and will accept less salary to join a successful team. If we offered the exact same terms to a player who also had the option of Richmond who do you think they’d join? I think you know the answer. The Patriots in the US created the template for paying significant unders for talent. They had a brilliant coach and quarterback and were the nearest thing to guaranteed success around. They had players knocking on their door to join particularly players in the latter part of their career. https://www.sbnation.com/2016/3/14/11214640/patriots-contracts-tom-brady-julian-edelman-rob-gronkowski-malcolm-butler Geelong are probably the closest example in the AFL. Another example from the EPL a number of years ago was Man City. They were taken over and suddenly had money to burn. They had to pay through the nose for talent but within a few years they had bought their way to success. Once they had achieved success, and the revenues that flow from that, their wage rates then reverted to the average. -
Double chance. A good run with injuries. Good form and momentum coming into finals (although not as important since the extra week was introduced). A majority of the bad umpiring decisions to fall your way. Well drilled. Defensive structures hold up front to back. Win clearances and contested ball. Good delivery I50. A dominant key forward to kick the goals.

Good shout but I think I’ll get on Trac at $13

Well done Lachie Neale. He’s had a great season and probably deserved the medal but 31 votes is definitely overs.
-
Agree. Their sole focus should be on officiating the game not who is playing well. It’s not like they’re doing such a good job at that as it is.

Dad joke alert @Dr. Gonzo ?

I think Roos is perfect for them in a consultancy role. He’ll make sure they put the right people in the right roles. That’s the critical thing. Him and Jackson did it for us when we were a shambles so he can do it for North. I hope Rhyce Shaw recovers quickly. He did the right thing stepping aside to sort himself out.

Ok. I’ll try not to be lame but I make no promises ? -
He's hardly the first coach or club to overate their list.

Jeez the Church of England brigade are out in force on this thread! Good loss, bad loss are very mild terms and pretty low on the offence scale. Also happen to suit our gormless coach perfectly. The club look like they’ll provide new assistants and are trading for players that will improve the team. He’ll be given everything he needs to succeed. No more talk of learnings, being ruthless blah blah. Its time for Goodwin to prove himself (past time in fact). Starts winning and the badloss references go away otherwise harmless nicknames will be the least of his worries. -
Big difference between head strong and being uncoachable (the most self-serving remark an under-performing coach can make). Sounds like Clayton does rate some of the coaches and I think he has a point. I mean we are turning them all over! I don’t know how oppositional Clayton is but there is a line past which his behaviour becomes detrimental to the team. You need a strong character to coach him which is why I think Voss would be perfect as our midfield coach. Voss was the best midfielder of his generation so he has the cred and authority for the job. Plus he's a very capable coach by all accounts. Hopefully he has the good sense to steer clear of the trainwreck at North.

Neither port nor brisbane deserve to be in the final. Both had home advantage and couldn’t get the job done.

Fair enough. I’m concerned though we won’t be organised for trade week. -

This review is taking a while. Our season finished 4 weeks ago. Not much noise either. Surely if Mahoney was being let go it would have been announced by now. Plus trade period is rapidly approaching. Adem Yze is a great additional but we need more. I guess now that Port are out we can talk to Voss so hopefully there’ll be developments there. -
He stays as long as Viney doesn't poll more than him ?

Gays and lesbians make up about 4% to 5% of the population so the probability that there is no gay footballer is very low. They are involved in every walk of life so why would the AFL be any different?

Why on earth should we merge with North! North to Tassie and pull the pin on Gold coast. The suns are nothing but a drain. It's rugby league country and yet the titans struggle to attract members and are effectively operated by the NRL commission so what hope an AFL team! Pure folly by the AFL.
