Umpiring for Collingwood
Who in their right mind would want to be an umpire. It's an impossible job. that said we need a system to eliminate the shockers. The mark against May was was an obvious howler. Everyone saw he got his hands to the ball except the ump. perhaps video reviews for decisions which lead to a set-shot? A goal either way can have a huge influence on the outcome so worth considering in my view.

CHANGES: Rd 15 vs Essendon
Agree. Same applies to BB. Both have had interrupted preseasons so it may well be 2022 before we see the best of either of them.

If Ben Brown doesnt play the rest of the year
Big call to say his heart isn’t in it HFF. Based on interviews (particularly the open mike interview) he has done he comes across as smart and articulate. Definitely not someone whose only option to make a living is footy. Wouldn’t surprise me if he goes into media post career. There have been no whispers about attitude or application which is usually the case if someone isn’t putting it all in at training. I though his 3 games were serviceable (haven’t seen his last game for Casey where the consensus is he played terribly) I reckon he’s just unfit. He’s had an injury interrupted 2020 and missed this preseason. I don’t think there are ulterior motives here.

Fixtures - second half of the season
The Essendon game is critical. Coming off a disappointing loss before the bye it's important we get back to winning ways. the bombers are a dangerous opponent. Their youngsters are full of confidence and won't fear playing us. Win and it set's us up for the second half of the season. A loss brings us back to the pack vying for Top 4 and will dent our confidence. That all said, we are better than the Bombers so i expect the win Giants form has been up and down. Finals chances are slim and wouldn't surprise me if they put the cue in the rack. Win for us. Port haven't beaten a top 8 team yet. We'll beat them. Chalk Hawks and Suns down as wins. Who knows after that what our form and injury profile will look like after that but i reckon we beat the Crows and Doggies and lose to Eagles and Cats. That gives an 18-4 record, a Top 2 finish and one of the Cats, Doggies or Lions in a qualifying final at the G.

Darren Burgess Being Poached
He's worth every cent. After head coach i reckon it's the most important role at the club. it'll be very difficult to replace him but i suggest we target the next best high performance manager in the league.

POSTGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood
They’ve responded to challenges and adversity very well all year so I expected a response on Monday. It wasn’t to be but the team have plenty of credits in the bank. I’m going to put it down to tiredness and move on. I expect a refreshed Dees to resume normal service against the Bombers after the bye.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - LUKE JACKSON
I would hate to lose dogga but If he is homesick (based on performances it doesn't look like he is) and he insists on leaving, Freo have some excellent victorians we can ask for in exchange. Young brayshaw would be my preference but Cerra or Serong (i think he's victorian) would suffice either. If we're lucky Mac Andrews might not go in the first round of the draft so he could be a replacement. he'd be 2-3 years off the first team of course but we could pick up a relief ruck from the lower leagues to give Maxy a dig-out in the meantime. My strong preference is not to lose him. Hopefully the homesickness passes and he settles down

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - LUKE JACKSON
It certainly isn't affecting their performances thus far. Other than offering the opportunity to play in and win finals I suggest finding them a couple of homely Melburnian lassies.

If Ben Brown doesnt play the rest of the year
Let's hope TMac stays fit and firing. Probably our most important player at the moment because we don't have an adequate replacement (SW struggling badly for form and BB struggling for fitness).
- First option

What's worse?
I think the worst category is a loss before the bye. An extra week to wallow before the chance of redemption

POSTGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood
We scored the first 3 goals of the 3rd quarter to take the lead. I thought we would close it out from there. Even going into the last i thought we would win given our superior fitness. Alas, not to be.

Dogs or Cats this week?
I never want Geelong to win. I'd only make an exception if it benefited us and i can't remember that ever happening. Not recently anyways. The cats are old and the season is long. They'll run out of legs in my opinion.

My 3 word player analysis V Collingwood
Must try harder

Sam Weideman re-signs until 2023
McKay has signed a deal to take him to free agency in 2 years time. We should be laying the groundwork (if possible) to bring him in as a free agent. I'd hate to see him go to Geelong or Richmond. We can draft a youngster now as well.

CHANGES: Rd 15 vs Essendon
The Weid's confidence is shot. BB had an interrupted 2020 due to injury and missed the preseason. He's not fit enough. It ain't looking good for either this year. We coped very well without them early in the year and can do so again. I won't be surprised if we revert to our early season forward set-up for Essendon

Sam Weideman re-signs until 2023
The FD have talked him up in an effort to build his confidence I reckon but he’s a shell at the moment. Comparisons to Tredrea are way off the mark. Serves no useful purpose keeping him in the team when he’s this short of belief. A stint with Casey might help but at this stage it’s not looking good long term. Yesterday was the lowest point. Offered nothing. I’ve been a believer but there’s only so long you can wait. We need to invest our time in BB and hope he comes right for the second half of the season

Do you trust Melbourne
Do i trust them to win every game? No because its not possible Do i trust them to deliver a proper performance after the bye against Essendon? Yes If we deliver a consecutive poor performance i'll start to worry

POSTGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood
Disappointing loss for sure but it's not like there are glaring deficiencies in the team. We were not switched on today but we have 2 weeks until the next game to sort out our mindset. Some honest conversations with Goody, Chocco and the leaders of the team will right the ship. Get back to the basics. Team first, selfless approach I predict an attitude adjustment and a 5 goal win against the bombers

I'd rather not hear your sanctimonious posts either

If Ben Brown doesnt play the rest of the year
Same. can't defend him any longer. zero impact.

You reckon De Goey is what we need? Have you been watching him play this year?
