  1. Exciting news. I can;t wait to see BB play for us but i hope the club err on the side of caution with his rehab and recovery. Make sure he is 100% right before putting him in the side. TMac has stepped into the breach in his absence (never thought i'd write that) and we've won our games so no need to rush him back.
  2. I agree they are not like for like The trade-off is Weid offers more reliable goal kicking v the defensive effort Fritsch brings (which he wasn’t bringing last year btw). I like Fritsch but his goal kicking is off. We have kossie and Spargo to bring the forward pressure. He’s in the team to kick goals and he’s not doing it at the moment. If Fritsch starts to kick straight then he stays in for mine. But if he doesn’t he’ll be dropped and will have to go back to Casey to work on his technique and re-build his confidence.
  3. Our womens team are playing a final on Saturday afternoon. You should check it out. It'll help you pass the time while you wait for the mens game.
  4. Are you sure or just guessing?
  5. Depends which version of Kelly you get. The 2018/2019 version was A grade. Since then he has been quite poor.
  6. Kelly needs a change of scenery. His best was excellent so the regression must be down to motivational factors No way he commands $1m or anything close based on current form. You’d only consider bringing him in if you could pick up relatively cheaply. No idea how we’d work it but if we ended up with Kelly and had to sacrifice Gus I’d consider it. But you would have to be sure that he hasn't settled for the easy life. No passengers allowed.
  7. Adelaide count is quite pronounced but probably just an anomaly given just 2 games in. Other than than looks like a typical bell curve. Probably runs counter to a lot of people's biases e.g Geelong get preferential treatment from the umps.
  8. It's all between the ears for us this week Turn up, switched on, ready to battle and we win If our attitude is wrong it will be unforgivable
  9. Has any player regressed more over the last couple of seasons than Josh Kelly? A shadow of his former self. Coniglio had a crack early but Kelly looked totally disinterested and has done for a while. I was a big fan of his and was hoping we might make a play for him but i'm starting to change my mind. Agree with you about this being a danger game. This is a final stand for them. Go 0-3 and its a long road to finals. I reckon they'll have a dip for a quarter or so but if we withstand the early storm we will win comfortably.
  10. I think Jackson in the relief ruck role has been very effective and allowed Max to head back and take defensive marks. I'd keep him in. What about Weid for Fritsch? He has played well in terms of defensive efforts and taking grabs but his goal kicking is off. Weid is a more reliable kick for goal but defensive pressure not his strong suit but i think we can mange with charlie and kozzie applying the front half pressure. Great problems to have.
  11. only pulling your leg OD. How you surviving up there in covid country? If you're not careful Anna won't let you back across the border.
  12. Didn't peg you as a hindsight Harry OD ?
  13. Sounds like every DL game day thread ever
  14. No player should receive 10 years. It’s madness. He's durable now but he goes in hard, no guarantee he won't get a serious injury or become injury prone in a few years time. I would offer 3 years on $1m per year. He’s worth that level of salary. Contracts are just pieces of paper. They don’t compel people to give their all or put their heart and soul into their job. Clayton wants to play for a team that matches his ambition and desire for success. The best and only retention strategy is to win games of footy and play finals. This club needs to show him that we offer the best environment for him to realise his ambitions. If that happens, the contract will take care of itself (and we won;t need to pay over the odds either). We've made a positive start to the season but it must continue otherwise no guarantee he'll hang around imv.
  15. First appearance was last year i believe. Knocked over GWS in the semi final on their patch. Kicked 3 late goals to snatch it. Check out Lily Mithen's last minute goal. the farthest she's ever kicked it in her life i reckon. Balls of steel. unfortunately season canned a few days later due to covid so never got to play the prelim.
  16. Strange. McKay kicked 4 on him the other night
  17. BDA replied to Rocknroll's topic in Melbourne Demons
Given the situation with his knee i wouldn't let BB anywhere near a rucking contest.
  18. Pickett will be a gun and fills a massive need for us. Serong is a fine young player and will form part of a formidable Freo midfield unit for years to come. Both parties will be perfectly satisfied with this trade i reckon. I guess we should acknowledge and thank North for facilitating the initial pick swap. They’ve netted Tom Powell this year but too early to tell if he’ll make it.
  19. I fancied us against Freo and against St Kilda (a very over-rated side imv). GWS in Canberra worried me but after seeing their woeful effort against Freo I reckon the only way we lose is if we beat ourselves. It’s another step in our development. Can we front up, switched on ready to perform from the get-go against an opponent that is very beatable. As Dubdee said its time to lose the underdogs mentality and embrace the mantle of favourites. If form lines are reliable (I know we’re only 2 games in) we should dominate and win comfortably. As a Dees supporter, just writing that, I can feel the MFCSS rising…we’re going to stuff it up, we always do…. this team is soft…rah rah To hell with the MFCSS. The Dees to kick straight and win by 35 points.
  20. Fourth-placed Melbourne will take on fifth-placed Fremantle in a home Qualifying Final B at Casey Fields on Saturday, April 3 at 1:05pm AEDT
  21. Same could be said for parliament house
  22. Looking forward to heading to Casey on Saturday although i would prefer a later starting time. I'm confident of the win Fourth-placed Melbourne will take on fifth-placed Fremantle in a home Qualifying Final B at Casey Fields on Saturday, April 3 at 1:05pm AEDT.
  23. The scoreline in the currently reads 8-16 Freo 2-11 GWS Some of the set-shot attempts are truly pathetic.
  24. Andrew Brayshaw BOG. Excellent young player.
  25. Was just going to say the same thing. They will get a roasting during the week and turn up to our game with a point to prove.
