  1. Next year is choc full of tall talent inside 20 and Brisbane will need to trade out their first rounder to match a very high bid for Ashcroft. https://twitter.com/EdPascoe_eDPS/status/1448408932678987776?s=20 I don’t think we need to overreach for a developing ruck. This year, maybe Cripps an option with our pick in the 40s ( should come in to around 42 after bid matching).

They would have been better off taking the original offer of pick 17, which Adelaide clearly had on the hook. Swans obstinance allowed us to jump in on the deal and get 17.
  3. Unlikely Amiss makes it past both of Freo & WC, would think Bombers would have an interest too.

They had to shoot their shot for Horne-Francis. Wonder if North gave it any thought.
  5. I’d love Wanganeen-Milera, but he’s bolting. Can’t see him getting past Essendon at 11, could go inside 10. Would be a great fit at Saints with pick 9.

They could have just drafted him 4 years ago.

Third is ok, 2nd can’t be traded out without either a first or second coming back in. Dispensation can be granted by AFL though.

I’d like us to have a crack at p23 from the Dogs. 37 & 57 over to them would give them a 70 point gain on DVI and chuck in a future 3rd to give them something tangible to make it worth their while. 23 too good a pick to be swallowed up in bid matching.

The GC argument is that it helped them greatly. Brodie was a player they no longer wanted, but was contracted on a deal that hurt them both with the cap and with list space. They’ve managed to offload him, all of that and salary also get a future 2nd. They don’t do that without pick 19. They’ve got so many high draftees, a kid at pick 19 wasn’t going to move the needle and they didn’t have the space to bring in experienced players. They’re in terrible shape off field, but this deal goes someone way to alleviating some of their problems and about more than binary value of the picks involved. Freo have done very well to exploit GC’s priorities (as we did with the Dogs & Crows in our trade for pick 17).
  10. Yep, would be very happy with Butler too. Bit of Butters about his play and excelled at the combine.
  11. It’s a very sweet spot in the draft. Zac Taylor, Darcy Wilmot & Blake Howes are others in the mix at that spot & would happily have any of them at the Dees.
  12. Here we go again!
  13. Same story when I tried in Seddon.
  14. Benefits of making the GF is the opportunity for JT and Lamb to get to some games in WA to see some of the kids play live, both in WAFL/Colts as well as the GF curtain raiser. Every advantage counts!
  15. This one:
  16. I had the weirdest dream last night. We kicked 17 goals to one after being down 19 deep in the third. Absurd. Oh, that was reality? That happened? Bugger me. Whilst we couldn’t necessarily be there in person, part of my joy in the win was that all of you awesome people on DL could share in this feeling. So many years of hurt, frustration and sheer despair have bonded us and so happy for all of you now.
  17. All hail this gun recruitment team. Have nailed so many list decisions since 2013. Such sustained excellence is so, so rare. They deserve all the plaudits that come their way, for footy list purists it is as close to perfection as you’ll find (if Weid makes it, it will be perfection!).
  18. Onya Ash, thank you!

The NGA changes were already flagged late in 2019 season, Dogs were worried it would be implemented before they had the chance to get Ugle-Hagan, but the AFL didn’t make the final decision until relatively late in the piece last year. Felt it would be unfair to clubs to change the rules for ‘20 draft, so flagged that change was effective from ‘21. I think our draft strategy would have been ambivalent to having access to Andrew.
  20. Great piece from Megan Hustwaite. So many Demons gone too soon, it was great for this to not just be acknowledged in an article but for a journo to take the time to tell the stories of those left behind and how they are connected to what our team is doing today.

Good yarn from PK. A cracking selection at 17.

Could probably squeeze a 3rd if we paid a bit of his contract next year.

I’m pretty sure Sam and Gerard were just speculating based on a text that came through from a listener. Don’t know if Sam was putting that forward himself.

Enjoy this Landers, I still can’t quite comprehend how good our team is. We’re in and it’s time. Go Dees!

Can I as well please @Lord Nev ?
