RIP Harley Balic
That's such sad news. RIP Harley.

Premiership DVD and victory pack
Picked up the blu ray last weekend from JB, handily scored a Black Friday discount to boot. Got a bit of joy from watching with the MMM commentary featuring Luke Darcy. He kept it together reasonably well...

Welcome to Demonland: Blake Howes
We’ve had a number of guys really improve their kicking game in the last 12 months (Oliver & Langdon come to mind), I really think we’re providing a great environment for players to develop their skills. Am comfortable that Williams & co will help Howes clean up deficiencies in technique, he already seems to make good decisions with ball in hand, which is often half the trouble.

Welcome to Demonland: Blake Howes
Have seen him clear 50m relatively comfortably, the concern with that ball drop is the reduced time he’ll have to get the ball from hand to foot at AFL level. The speed of the game will be a big adjustment.

Welcome to Demonland: Blake Howes
Howes kick doesn’t look too bad here: Maybe not as fluid an action as the top end kicks, but decent touch and can get good distance. I think McVee is the best kick of our 2021 draft crop. His foot skills look very, very good.

2022 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Bravo Demonstone! Worth noting that the Lions will likely trade out their first rd pick to match a high bid on Ashcroft, and depending on how Alwyn Davey’s boys go next year, Bombers will almost certainly be trading out their 2nd & possibly even their first. It went largely unnoticed, but we were very shrewd in trading out our 3rd & 4th rounders for 2022 equivalents to bank some picks as trade capital for next year. We’re well positioned to rinse, repeat & trade back into the first round next year. Looks a good crop if Jed Hagan and Adam D’Aloia can’t crack the above lists. Also worth noting one of the top tall prospects, Alex Condon from WA has chosen basketball over AFL (a reverse Jackson?).
-
Welcome to Demonland: Judd McVee
From Jordan McArdle who’s been covering the draft out West: Geraldton/ @EFFC product Judd McVee the only West Aussie picked up in the rookie draft. Once rated a top-10 draft prospect when he won WA’s under-16s MVP award, McVee has great foot skills, composure across half-back. Joins Sharks teammates Trent Rivers, Luke Jackson at the Dees.

2021 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
I get the impression we're focusing more on a replacement for Hibberd/Nev earlier on.

2021 Phantom Draft
The players we’ve been linked to (at this stage) appear to be in the similar mould...athletic & versatile. A benefit of having a reasonably balanced list is we’re in a really good spot to take the best of a certain type and plug them in wherever we may need them. Howes would be a good pick for us, Twomey also links us to some versatile hb types, which in time could give us the chance to have a look at Riv getting some mid rotation time.

Hugh Greenwood jumps ship to North Melbourne
What a debacle. This is up there with the all time list management own goals. As Luci said, clubs have been too cute with the risk free manipulation of primary and rookie list spots and it’s about time another club took advantage. GC probably regretting letting pick 19 go for what effectively amounted to a salary dump right now. Wonder how keen they are on a 2nd rd pick?

The Trade in Draft Picks
I thought that night 1 is the entire first round, regardless of the number of selections. The post first round selection (19 which will become 21) kicks off night 2.

AFL Trade Period
Tiges have done a pretty similar deal to the above with Collingwood. Hoping we can get a similar deal done with Dogs for p23: Collingwood swapped its pick 27 for Richmond’s picks 38 and 40 in this year’s draft as well as a future third-round selection.

2021 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
A couple of the early phantoms have James Willis as an option for us in the third round, here’s a profile on him: https://afl.draftcentral.com.au/player/james-willis/

2021 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Starts to get variable after 10 and heavily dependant on individual club views. I’m reasonably convinced that Wanganeen-Milera doesn’t get past pick 13 now (after being viewed as a 25+ range kid around 6 weeks ago). Beyond that, such a wide net from 10-30. Would love for Sinn to slide to us at 19, but a heap of good options.

2021 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Sonsie and Lohmann would be terrific additions. Really excited by Howes & Lohmann in that medium forward group. Starting to take a shine to Fejo jr, keen for us to have a look in the 40's. A few keen Crow fans believe that the Crows love Rachele and may pounce on him higher up. Another who was around the 15 to 20 mark coming into '21, but slides because of injury (taken at 35 above) is Cooper Murley. A bit of Zorko about him: https://afl.draftcentral.com.au/player/cooper-murley/

2021 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Would imagine that we’ll try and grab Brisbane’s pick, Ashcroft will go high and they’ll be looking to bank lower picks.

Anyone seen much of Fejo jnr? I know this is a highlights package, but wow:

Shifter Sheehan’s started to release his profiles of the current crop, starting with the half forwards. Draper the standout, Howes is the one I really like here: https://www.afl.com.au/news/684085
