  1. Thanks DL. Worth noting that all of us in Victoria right now don't need extra reason to feel crappy about life. Posts that attack fellow Demonlanders personally have real potential for negative consequences. Nothing we discuss here warrants making another individual feel that way.
  2. Yes. I believe clubs are supposed to take 2 first rounders in a 4 year period. We used 2 last year, so we’ve bought ourselves some flexibility with future 1st pick trading.
  3. Think I saw somewhere that it was GWS. They’ve said they aren’t interested in Brown, maybe we could work T Mac into Preuss deal.
  4. He had an inconsistent year, and still would be incredibly difficult to replace. There are similar types, but few as valuable, and fewer of those that would be available: https://www.afl.com.au/news/517468/going-to-war-why-a-wantaway-don-is-the-most-valuable-player-up-for-trade
  5. He seems adamant that he wants to stay at Collingwood, and if he gets pushed out would prefer another Vic club. I suspect Collingwood prefer the narrative of 'family reasons' and trade him to Qld club for optics (and salary savings), but don't think he wants that. Rest of his family & supports are in Vic. It's why he moved back from GWS. Would be funny if Tiges got involved. Only way we could get involved is if one of our prime mids (& change) moves on. The win might be a shift of Carlton's focus from Clarrie.
  6. The Adam Treloar situation is interesting. Sounds like Collingwood may be using his partners relocation to try and get him off the books and get some draft capital back, but he wants to stay at Collingwood (or Vic club if he gets shoved out the door). Hey Carlton, here's the mid you should be chasing, hands off Clarrie. Thank you.
  7. Would be staggered if we relented and let him go this year, but would imagine they would go even harder next year when they have greater leverage. Should we be getting in Merrett's ear or Tim Taranto's ahead of any potential need to replace Clarrie? A few good ones coming out of contract next year.'
  8. Age reckons talks between GWS & Dees are amicable & late 2nd - early 3rd pick is the go. Smack bang in line with where I’d expect Corr compensation to land: https://amp.theage.com.au/sport/afl/opportunity-draws-preuss-to-giants-20201012-p564f6.html?__twitter_impression=true
  9. An interesting post on what’s been going on at Bombers. One part of the picture, but I think one for all clubs to take note of:
  10. If our salary cap is an issue and impacting our capacity when discussing Brown, we are no chance to enter talks with Cameron unless we shed serious salary. I can't remember the last time this many credentialed key forwards were potentially in the market at once, hope we could get one in.
  11. Were rumours about him being unhappy at Dogs earlier in the year. Can win his own ball , but has played the wing role for Dogs beautifully. Great runner and positions himself really smartly. Would be a really good get to fill our wing spot.
  12. Essendon probably thinking the same think at this point. I don’t know why we wouldn’t at least make a pitch.
  13. Yeah, very disappointing that we didn't appear to get heavily involved, he would have really made a difference to our list and obviously was there to be convinced. I do think we need to test their capacity to retain their players now. Curnow OOC in 2023 I believe, but McKay comes out of contract next year, let's get into him now. Petrevski-Seton the other one I'd try and persuade.
  14. Speaking of recruiting consultants, what’s Chris Pelchen up to these days?
  15. If Mahoney’s Position is in question after an objective review, then that’s all fine, my reservation is the timing. Do we want to do this ahead of trade & draft period? While I find it hard to assess his performance in other areas, Mahoney seems to do well at this time of year. Moving him on now could hinder getting deals across the line (we remember how Bell almost bollocksed things up for Freo when he filled in in 2018).
  16. I look at what Richmond have done with Astbury, who at the same age as Oscar had played less than 50 games and was a whipping boy, and wonder how how he would go there. In the right setup, he could become a pretty good role player.
  17. He’d only shown flashes in his junior days, his absolute ceiling was 2nd round. we had some interest and probably would have bid with our next pick, which was a couple of selections after he went. Don’t think he will leave, but shouldn’t stop us from kicking the tyres. We could definitely use his his disposal inside 50. At the very least it might result in someone else falling out.
  18. @Chook in Perthwith the mic drop!
  19. I' m not particularly fussed that Smith won't be a long term player, we've got one year to make progress in finals with Goodwin, we've got 2 years of Goody under contract. We've got a limited crack with May & Gawn. We could well be at the stage where we have to have a mini blow up of the list if we're not competing in finals next year. I'm comfortable with getting a low commitment (in years, not effort) player in the list to fill a need. We won't be burdened with a long term contract if we have to shake things up in a year. We still have clear needs, lets fill them as quickly & efficiently as possible and get cracking.
  20. Sounds like exactly the sort of player we need.
  21. Saints (in particular) & Dogs are going hard for Caldwell.
  22. I'd expect Geelong to monitor the situation as well.
  23. Just spitballing, but it might have been a small amount of the substance in possession, as well as (as far as any scale can apply) accounting for the type of substance in possession. Without having any further detail, it's all just speculation really. Edit: @Ethan Tremblay not only beat me to it, but articulated it better.
  24. The 'Brad Crouch thread' needs to be renamed the 'Brad Crouch line'.
