TRAINING: Friday 22nd November 2019
AaronDaveyChipsAndGravey replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Surely KK should still be in non-contact training right now? I did see he had the red hat on the other today to indicate no contact -
Wylie Buzza

Wow what an easy decision to make on such simple criteria. I reckon Stephen Wells should be worried about you coming for his job -

Has been given 7 games in a team’s forward line that has been dominated by Tom Hawkins for the last decade. I wouldnt say the jury is out on his career just yet. -

Had to make space for Jenkins and Steven. I wouldnt knock him just because the cats dont think he’s worth anything -

I've got no concerns with picking him up as a project player. Gold Coast could be keener given he's a Queensland boy, however he'd probably have a greater chance at senior opportunities through us -
I heard they’re jetting over Juddy just to make sure Martin will come. Worked for them getting Shiel last time right?
-
Wylie Buzza delisted by the Cats due to the arrival of Jenkins. Not that he is the answer to our key forward woes, but would be a solid addition to our depth having only Weideman and McDonald as our only genuine key forwards who have spent more than their fair share of time on the sidelines. Would cost next to nothing, might even be worth it just on a rookie spot. Has only played 7 AFL games for 5 goals, however has been stuck behind Hawkins, Ratugolea and even Taylor for a spot. Worth the look? 2019 VFL Stats: 17 games, 32 goals

Martin is on holiday in Europe for the next month, can imagine it’s going to be hard for us to properly get into his ear about joining up
-
Right, doesnt seem fair that a club can just reject any deals and then bully contract figures to force him to their club. Also seems ridiculous if they could frontend roughly 1.5mil or so of a contract but its looking like thats the way its going to crumble. Only hope is that May and Kolo can convince him otherwise. I dont doubt that we’d be able to pay him close to what Carlton will per year, but that high front ending seems to be the issue
-
What's stopping us from just drafting Martin in the PSD. Won't we be able to determine his contract size and length - or does Martin/his management have any say in what he gets paid?

2019 Player Reviews: #21 Braydon Preuss
AaronDaveyChipsAndGravey replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Couldnt catch a balloon if he tried unfortunatel. Is a decent kick for goal but rarely gets that opportunity. See it very hard for him to squeeze into the team with Tomlinson/Weideman doing the chop-out ruck work. -
2019 AFL National Draft Thread
AaronDaveyChipsAndGravey replied to The Stigga's topic in Melbourne Demons
Young looks to be a more penetrating kick than Salem, way more agile, and perfect for that rebounding half-back role and given some time could probably rotate through onto a wing. -
PSD has no priority picks, we're still sitting at 2

Am I wrong in assuming the only reason the Suns didnt accept Carlton’s pretty generous offer was that they’re going to redraft him at the Suns? Why not accept 9 and whatever else was involved if you’re not certain you’ll be keeping him at the club? They’re within their right to redraft him and must be confident they can either at least keep him on the list til next year when they can maybe get something from him or try and get him invested in the club? All in all a very confusing one that will no doubt be fleshed out soon.

How do you rate our trade period?
AaronDaveyChipsAndGravey replied to Wiseblood's topic in Melbourne Demons
B+ for mine pending draft selections. Langdon and Tomlinson are solid pick ups for not much at all. Draft plays were smart and calculated. Glad Mahoney and co. avoided the shambles of deadline day and didnt get sucked into anything dumb. Could have been better had we landed a readymade forward, either tall or small. We will be light on that area next year which is a big risk, but could pay off without having to have grabbed a plug and play player like Jenkins or the likes. Two top 10 draft picks could really be coming on in then next 3 years or so when (hopefully) we’re tilting at a flag. However, I think we can all agree that we’re in better hands than most (SOS, Dodoro Harley and whoever manages Norf - wouldnt have a clue who he is) -
Havent been around for the frenzy his arvo. Can someone explain his situation and how likely it is we’d be able to get him. Is he a chane to go through the National Draft or am I wrong in assuming that
-
Giving 6, 27 and next years which will be between 14-18 all for moving 3 spots up in the draft. Turn it up!!
-
That would be a robbery. GWS wouldnt even consider it. They need the pick they get back for Bonar to use points to land Green. I’m of the mind that GWS 1st round next year will be worth diddly-squat in next years draft. We should be looking at wrenching out pick 6 and a player for 3

Gun target - Key Forward recruit?
AaronDaveyChipsAndGravey replied to tallstuey's topic in Melbourne Demons
Sorry, thought you asked how much he ended up taking at the pies. I dont think our $$ offer was ever mentioned however one can assume it was more than what he toom at the pies -

Elliot I believe took about 500kish at the pies, possibly fractionally leas -
Darwin game scrapped. Big win for us imo

Are we plotting a late heist?
AaronDaveyChipsAndGravey replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I know we’d probably win points-wise by trading pick 3 to pick 6 and their 1st round next year, however what would we conceivably benefit from getting a pick that is like to be in the 14-18 range next year? I cant see us taking that to the draft considering we’ve already traded out of it. Only way I see it is we’re keen to package that up with the following years 1st round to go for a decent player. -

The 2019 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
AaronDaveyChipsAndGravey replied to Nascent's topic in Melbourne Demons
I love your optimism, but I think we’re taking an enormously dangerous punt on Weideman finally working out, Tmac finding 2018 form, both of those two staying injury free and all our other forwards bagging 30 goals or so each. Unfortunately we copped some unlucky injuries this year, however the club shouldnt be complacent on saying that wont happen again next year and just sitting by this trade period. What happens when one of weideman or tmac goes down, or both? Sure we have Petty that could swing forward, but if we’re seriously resorting to that we are genuinely rooted. I just dont see where the goals are coming from next year. We cant seriously be competing with the top half of teams with the forwards we have now + a few draftees. -
I wouldnt worry a whole lot on list spots at this point in time. There’s still delisted free agents (e.g Murray) rookie draft and preseason draft as well to fill all our spots
