  1. He's played 80 odd games because he can barely get on the park. Constantly injured so its not as if going on his track record that he's likely to be readily available.
  2. Darcy Fort and Ratugolea at the Cats look gettable. Tom Hickey from the Eagles, however looks to be off to the Swans. If we were serious about this area of our list then we'd be sniffing around those. Agree there doesnt look to be much else on offer currently, however I think we'd be better off going with what we have then offering what looks now to be valuable list spots to a 4th string forward ruck who barely gets on the park. With at the least 3 of Ben Brown, Weideman, Jackson, Petty, Tomlinson and Mitch Brown available, I have no doubt we'd be able to cover any ruck issues without our forward mix getting thrown off.
  3. I agree it has to be someone else. Im well aware that Mitch Brown wont cut it and havent said he would, but I doubt Mckernan can cut it either. Again I'd be concerned that we'd be relying on Mckernan who has been on an AFL list since 2009 and has only played 80 odd games and no more than 15 in a season was bearing our ruck duties. I'm also in the mind that if Jackson can put on a bit more size on this off season he can really have an impact in the ruck if called upon. Take a look at Tom De Konig from Carlton who is just about their 1st choice ruckman (roughly exactly the same heights and weights) and came in and made an immediate impact. I agree we need the backup...but Mckernan? Such a poor move to recruit an injury prone list clogger
  4. Mckernan is old, undurable and wouldnt be able to compete as a first choice ruck if Gawn went down. We would be struggling that bad if we're relying on Shaun Mckernan to carry our ruck load. Has always been more of a forward that pinch hits in the ruck and is exactly the type that Mitch Brown is. Why do we need another? If we seriously want another back up ruck we can surely do better than this...
  5. Gawn, Ben Brown, Jackson, Weideman, Mitch Brown and now Mckernan? Do we really need another Fwd/Ruck utility type??
  6. Besides the obvious need for Phillips on the wing who ive been saying for a while would be a great addition, his brother Will is touted as a top 10 pick this year who from all reports is an absolute gun and future club captain. I know we’re nowhere near that sort of range at the moment, but from what others have said we could certainly package up some players and picks to send to GWS to get into that spot. I’d be getting brother Tom on board regardless, but the potential of getting his brother either this years draft or when he comes out of contract could be a massive bonus. From Cal Twomeys write up he’s a goal kicking mid who looks to be able play with real breakaway speed.
  7. Besides the fact this could be a possibility trade wise...his salary will be astronomical come the next 2 years. We'll end up like Collingwood with Trac and Oliver commanding roughly the same amount as each other all the next year or so. Even if we managed to offload Brayshaw I still think this would be a poor move. Why would we add another midfielder who cant kick and has shown last 2-3 years that he isnt durable? I'd rather we turn our attention to a couple needs basis role players like Tom Phillips then sink ridiculous amounts of money into an injury prone midfielder at the expense of a promising and solid one like Brayshaw.
  8. Obviously there's a fair enough whack on his consistency within and between games. I think people need to remember that he's only 21 years old in his 3rd season of AFL, and was a major part of our 2018 finals push. I think his kicking has improved a lot this year and was able to hit a lot more targets and kick set shot goals. IIRC he had 3 goals in that Collingwood game and a handful against North to go along with a number of score involvements. He might only be small but he attacks the ball with the aggression of someone twice his size (which ended up getting himself flattened by Majak Daw). He definitely has the potential to be an important player which is why the club is prepared to stick by his development. Spargo is definitely ahead of getting contract extensions over those who have had the continual opportunities and not shown much (Omac, Wagners, ANB).
  9. Love to see this! Hore would definitely need to show something more next year on top of a bit more durability but has the goods to become an important piece of our defensive best 6-8. Spargo has proved the doubters wrong and is an important link in our forward makeup and am pleased we've given him an extra 2 years.
  10. IIRC the club really wanted to draft Petrucelle but unfortunately didnt slide our way. With West Coast bringing in Zac Langdon he may get squeezed out of a forward role. I dont mind this as a more left field option, but I dont think he has the skills to play on the wing and is more of the Jayden Hunt role atm. Great at getting out the back and snagging goals and probably applies a bit more pressure, but I think the club would stick with Hunt at this stage.
  11. Sounded more of a throwaway comment from Mitch Cleary unless he knows something we dont. All the commentary has been around the fact that its going to be hard for us to get Ben Brown in without Tmac out. I dont think there'd be an immediate salary squeeze, however with Oliver, Trac coming out of contract in the next few years you'd hate to have a 28-29 year old Treloar being paid 900k a year and the reason we let one of those 2 go. Its just a massive no unless the club has a good list management strategy around the decision.
  12. Need it as my priamry source of Tom Browne information...been blocked by him for a while now
  13. Cue wild speculation from Tommy on the dollar amount of salary and contract length reported as fact...
  14. Good to see Tom Browne getting in on the "scoop" after Sam Edmund's report. Such a bottomfeeder ?‍♂️?‍♂️
  15. I'm fairly inclined to agree, however it's also hard to see Pies (if they manage to ditch Treloar) and Dons not having a decent crack given they're also deficient in an elite key forward and could potentially have the salary and better picks to offer North.
  16. I think the club has shown itself to be aggressive and more optimistic than yourself on where this list is at. 11-15th would be a serious slide and recruiting Brown and targeting others discussed on here would be an indication that they're not preparing to go backwards to go forwards. Bash the coach all you want but there's only so much you can do and implement with the players on your list and it's clear that there is potential on this list and with some major improvements on and off the field that we'll be back sniffing around finals again. Your comment about injuries next year is absolute nonsense. Its not like this year we won the injury lottery and all of a sudden we'll be hit by the karma bus next season because of that. We suffered in 2019 as a result of David Misson and all signs seem to indicate that Burgess will be around with his quality injury management next year to ensure that we'll have largely a full selection of players available each game.
  17. I know our Pick 23 has been widely mooted as the potential or probable pick to be used for the for Brown, just wanted to get peoples thoughts on here if they'd be happy if we gave over next year's first round pick for Brown? There's no question that North have lost a lot of their bargaining power given they've publicly told Brown he's not a required player and if all reports are true and that Brown will likely nominate us it also puts more of the onus on them to get it done. A lot of the recent talk is that everyone is in disbelief that North could let him go for anything less than a 1st round given he's kicked 60+ goals 3 out of the last 4 years. Obviously we'd all be hoping 23 gets it done, but if another club say Essendon or Collingwood came circling offering a better draft hand and more money for Brown, I think I'd be comfortable letting next year's 1st pick going with maybe some other later picks coming back to ensure we got this guy coming to our club.
  18. I think all the signs are there that Lockhart can develop into a really solid role player. I think he's a pretty decent kick of the footy, however at times this year just got caught wandering out of defence or taking on too much than he's really built for. Whether his best position is back or forward is up for debate I think, however I think his skills and smarts can allow him to be flexible. Would definitely need to work on his defensive efforts if he's to go the route of that smaller lockdown defender like Jetta has been in recent times. He's certainly got the capability to be more than a fringe player, but whether he takes the next steps in his development to become a regular 22 player is no doubt in his court.
  19. I think Hunt has the ability to be that 2nd small forward with Kozzie if he can just get more into the game with his defensive pressure. I'd be comfortable missing out on someone like Higgins with a Carlton overpaying knowing that we can go into next season with koz and hunt at the feet of Brown and Weid.
  20. With this years 2nd round pick looking likely to secure Brown, we'd certainly have to get creative to facilitate a trade. I don't think he's worth a 1st round pick, certainly not GWS' compensation pick which will be around pick 9 (if that even eventuates in a trade for Preuss). If what people have said is true, we're looking at taking a pick like that to the draft for Finlay Macrae. Maybe next years 2nd pick gets it done or even next year's first with extras coming back could get it done?
  21. Plough had an absolute mare on that West Coast call, most of what he has to say on list management is usually spot on.
  22. Can anyone summarise what Buckenara said? Article is paywalled
