  1. I think Ben has been quite objective in his questions and is quite engaging with all the players interviewed and across the Inside Melbourne Podcast. Saw him taking photos of the team song tonight as well - seems to be doing it all across the media department. Love his work and is a real asset for the media department of the club. A real shining light in a grim year with no in person footy!
  2. Despite a few easy misses, Weid is still a great kick (would back him in more often than not) and really impresses with his contested work. Only knock on him has been his ability to compete and breakeven a contest around the ground, which this year he has really gotten more aggressive with his contested work. Seems to be more of a complete player - one on one, contested marking/spoiling and at ground level. Starting to see for the first time why we let go Hogan for May. If we can keep delivering the ball well to this bloke he's a 2-3 goal a game player.
  3. Think Harmes has had a few rotten weeks and probably needs a rest and reset. AVB seems to be a barometer but could use a rest as well. Jones was quiet again and really hasnt offered much in any of his games to date. Staunch believer we rested Bennell and his calfs this week so reckon it could be - INS: Viney, Gawn, Bennell OUTS: Jones, AVB, Harmes Obviously a bit stiff on some of our harder nuts, particularly AVB this week but think Jones and Harmes are justified given their output in recent weeks. I really think Bennell just offers a much dangerous element to our forward setup when he's in the side - really only needs a few touches to break a game open given his fitness.
  4. I think our best setup is players like Viney and Tmac taking more of a backseat role within the team. Not to underplay the importance of both, Viney has been phenomenal through the middle of the ground this year and Tmac has proved tonight that he's better used up the field. Viney's spot in the side takes away from the output of Brayshaw, who in my opinion, is a more damaging player with ball in hand. We need to move Viney forward. His tackling pressure is fantastic, has a good goal sense and can chop out in the middle when needed. TMAC needs to be played further up the field, as a forward flank/CHF between the arcs. He offers a great bail out kick and lead up and is actually quite a good field kick - leave Weideman and Jackson further forward as our main targets. Sacrifices have to be made for success and I think both Viney and Tmac can adapt their roles for the betterment of the team whilst still providing crucial elements to our output. Great win tonight regardless and go stick that up ya spargo haters. Go Dees !!
  5. Harmes will have a decent matchup to lockdown on the Essendon mids rotating through the forward line i.e. Devon Smith. Smith for me is really the difference in that Essendon side and can really break the game open with his skill if let off the chain
  6. The only thing worse in Football than Cameron Ling on special comments, is Cameron Ling on special comments during a Geelong game
  7. God Cameron Ling is the absolute pits. Need a dedicated mute Ling button on every remote
  8. Haven't seen Richmond this clueless in recent memory. No system whatsoever
  9. Hadnt seen it change that low, last time I did check they were saying 2-8mm
  10. Don't get the collective panic around Weideman not playing this week. Obviously hadnt shown enough to get picked over Jackson last week, fair enough. Didn't get picked this weekend because of the wet conditions, fair enough. Are we really that desperate that we think this bloke will save our forward line worries having kicked a handful of goals in a game of 14 a side park footy in a magoos team that won by more than 10 goals. I recall people on here were calling for his head after missing that set shot against the Crows not too long ago. Unfortunately hasnt had the opportunity to prove it this year given the circumstances but dont think it warrants any reason to call for him to be traded...

  12. I knew this week was too good to be true for a Demons supporter
  13. No info as of yet to why or how this all happened. https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/afl-2020-melbourne-demons-covid19-coronavirus-rules-breach-regulations/news-story/ebf8297a06cb2fec9286bc542e3605df Not sure if the coaches still view Lockhart as someone who could go up forward but wouldnt mind seeing him or Bedford come in

  16. Think changes will be: IN: Bennell, Rivers, Jackson, Salem, Jones OUT: Hibberd, Spargo, Brown, Bedford, ANB/Lockhart Think OMAC holds his spot to make sure May gets a match up on Mckay/McGovern and making sure Lever wont take a tall. I don't think Hibberd has shown enough over the past season plus rd 1 to warrant selection especially with Rivers in. Carlton's back 6 doesnt play tall 1 on 1 match ups so can see why Jackson gets a run here. Lockhart would be unlucky to miss, had a stinker rd 1 but has showed plenty recently and is a really good user of the footy.
  17. I like this a lot especially the call on Smith in a backpocket. I don't think the club would risk both Bennell and Vanders straight off the bat. Hibbo would really have to show something this game and prove that he can actually hit a target, his ball use has been deplorable in recent memory. From all reports Rivers seems like a big chance to take that rebounding role.
  18. I know we have to be confident that our conditioning of him has been spot on regardless of whether he plays in the seniors or reserves. However I think King is right in that if he's 100% fit he plays. In reality who is better than him that he'd be keeping out of the side? You ever see a Joel Selwood or Dustin Martin come back playing through the 2s? Yeah I get its been a long time between drinks for him, but this guy has some serious talent and I fear if we play him in whatever 2s competition this year we may never see him.
  19. Bennell to dob at least 3 big ones on debut
  20. Got any better suggestions for our season preparations?
  21. Bedford looked impressive from limited minutes, will certainly give Pickett a run for his money for that small forward role if not rd 1 early into the season Ball movement infinitely better with Langdon and Tomlinson running the wings Wouldnt mind 10 of Bayley Fritsch Was great seeing May looking happy out there and the back 6 settled Lockhart massively impressive down back, great composure with ball in hand and should make his way into the rd 1 side As hard as it is being optimistic about this club at times, this preseason has been exceptional and the boys have set themselves up well for a good crack at the season. Will have nowhere to hide and no one to blame if this all goes belly up. Go Dees!
  22. Ah right, as someone said previously he must be one of the unluckiest blokes going around at the moment
