  1. God I hope WC get picks 8&12. I think that would swing the balance back in our favour. If Freo don’t up their offer I’d take pick 8 and a seal of future first. It’s still unders but at least we get high end talent.
  2. Does anybody know what the rules if we go past the deadline and don’t get a deal done? Can he resign with us at that stage? Or does he automatically go to the PSD?
  3. If we do that the pies will want 19 for Grundy
  4. Seems fair but I think Geelong want to hold onto pick 7 for Jhye Clarke which would mean they could be bringing in 4(that’s right 4) first round draft picks this year. WTF
  5. I agree that’s Freos first from this year and next along with Norths F2nd will get the deal done and I’ll be happy bough with that. I do however expect us to trade the two future first to improve our draft hand this year. Looks like we will only bring Grundy in this trade window and as Lamb said we are in a “win now” phase. Would be better to get quality players out of this draft and get games into them. I know next years draft is a stronger draft but we have shown in the past few years we would rather get players in a year earlier. If we can still keep some good picks in the second round of next years draft I’m sure JT will get some good talent out of it. Also I think that next years draft being stronger will make it easier to trade into this one.
  6. Just been reported on Trade Radio that Freo want a pick between 15-22 for Lobb. They are waiting for the Dunkley deal to be done first.
  7. It’s just the same thing Carlton did with Martin a few years ago. $1.5m would only be in the first year.
  8. I thought this at first too but they aren’t even offering what they have at the minute in terms of a future second rounder. #Bellend
  9. I know what your saying DD and I still can’t understand how Geelong had the cap space to buy pick 7. You have to hand it to them their list management is the best in the game. At the start of the trade period I was very disheartened to see what our rivals are able to do in terms of bringing in players that are ready to go and will improve their list straight away and the only player we seem to be in for is Grundy. But having listened to Lambs interviews I’m of the opinion that if we don’t trade in any other player in this window we will do very well out of this draft and bring in at least 2 high quality players that should be ready to go next year. I think we will add our future first to the bounty we get from Freo and hit this draft much the same as when we picked up Jackson, Koissie and Rivers. Just saying wait until after trade window and draft are done and dusted and then judge our off season compared to others.
  10. Not bad LN but I don’t think we need to send a pick to Freo in the first part of the deal, also don’t think we would trade back down from 7 if we were to get it.
  11. I think the Bedford trade might have to wait a little while. Don’t think we will pull the trigger on it until after the Grundy deal and perhaps not until after the Hopper deal. Im hoping that we end up with Grundy and pick 30 and maybe trade out a future 3rd. Would be great bit of business and very possible.
  12. I’d be surprised if that was the case LH. Pies have asked for a pick inside top 25. We are very close with 27. If we add the Bedford pick then we are going way over their asking price.
  13. If we are only using 2 picks I would think they will be very high picks. I expect us to be aggressive in trying to get our trading done early to give us the best possible chance of moving up the board. I wonder if the JHF to Port has made it more urgent to get our deals done. I assume North will want at least one pick at the very pointing end of this years draft to be part of the deal. Given how difficult top 7 picks are to trade for JHF trade could make the market a lot more competitive.
  14. Given the amount of players they are losing Freo will have to keep some picks to fill spots on their list.
  15. Think we will get Grundy over the line for whatever we get for Bedford and pick 32.
  16. Added to the offer they have already made I think this future second gets it done. We would like more but I feel that’s enough to get the deal done.
  17. Freo have received a future 2nd &3rd from North for Logue and Tucker. Gives them more draft capital to get Jackson.
  18. Any posters who study the draft closely have any info on Cambell Chesser? I wonder if West Coast are in for Jackson if it’s someone we might enquire about. He’s been injured this year. I remember a lot of posters thought we would pick him with our first pick last year but I think WC picked him a few picks in front of us. Rookie me central says he’s strengths are +Speed, kicking, Class, Versatility, Outside run, Breaking lines. Sounds perfect for us and from Victoria too.
  19. Great interview. Sounds like West Coast are going to put an offer in for Jackson in coming days. Freo have offered this years first and next years. We have knocked that back. Harmes is going nowhere. Happy for Hunt to go. Same if Tommo can find another club. Club wants more than Pick 43 for Bedford.
  20. If Freo are offering this years first along with next years at this stage of the negotiation then you would assume they will go further. Assume they get norths future second. In a strong draft that future second is a good pick. Probably as good or better than a late first round this year. It would be enough to get the deal done imo. Sure we want a top 10 pick but we are the masters of moving up the board so perhaps it’s best to get the picks freo are offering ( plus a future second of north) and move il ourselves. We may be eyeing a top 5 pick and it may make more sense to get the Jackson deal done now so we can try and move up the board before others start swapping picks.
  21. This is a point I think is being over looked. It’s a bad contract in terms of cost but also because of its length. IF the pies pay $300k-$350k then that probably means we are paying him correct market value or there abouts. But if he wasn’t already locked in for 5 years then I can’t see us offer him a contract that long. Considering he’s just coming of a couple of injuries we are taking a gamble offering 5 years. That needs to be reflected in the trade value.
  22. We won’t give them anything from the Jackson deal. Grundy deal will be done way before Jackson’s as pies can’t wait until the last day of trade window as they have other deals to do and need Grundys done first. Won’t be a first rounder I don’t think either, more likely 32 & 41 or 32 & compo we get for Hunt
  23. Player with speed that can kick well. We seemed slow this year and may lose Bedford and Hunt. I think everybody probably agrees we need an outside mid that can delivery very well inside 50, a lockdown defender ideally with pace and kicking skills, more KPF depth and more ruck depth. Given that the trade window is just around the corner and Grundy is the only player we have been strongly linked to, I am of the opinion that we will go at this draft aggressively.Similar to what we did in 2018. I expect us to get the Grundy deal done before the Jackson deal. So we will have 2 first round pick from Freo and our future first. Lamb has said in the past that he likes to get groups of young talent together and I think we will use the fact that next years draft is deemed to be stronger as way to trade into this years draft. There’s a few first round draft prospects that fill our needs that are reportedly would be ready for AFL next season.
  24. Yeah I think your pretty close to what will happen there. Pick 8 and either Freos future first round or whatever they can turn that pick into. Think we will end up with pick 8 and a pick between 11-15 for Jackson. I wouldn’t be surprised if we then tried to trade next years first to help us move up draft this year. A bit will depend on how we rate this draft compared to next years but given our history I expect us to be keener to grab a couple of players in the first round of the draft this year rather than saving picks for next year.
  25. They reported that he’s going nowhere this trade window but that it’s a watch for this time 12 months as Port are definitely into him, he knocked back our contract offer and doesn’t like Melbourne as a city. So it’s probably a bit early for other clubs to be in the hunt. Really hope it’s not the case as he’s probably my favourite player after Max. Perhaps after the trade period we will be in a better position to improve our offer to him and get him to sign. I saw on one of the previous post that he is in a relationship with a girl who has strong family ties in Melbourne. I listened to most of the trade radio this week and your right most of them on there are not gaining much credibility so I hope they have their info wrong with regards Kossie.
