How Many Weeks For Kozzy?
The way this week is going I’m not expecting a good outcome.

Welcome to Demonland: Pick 5
All the talk is that this draft is super deep with some handy types expected to be picked late in the second and early third round. The very top players in this draft don’t seem to be rated as highly as those in the past few years.

Welcome to Demonland: Pick 5
I know we need an A grade midfielder but what’s peoples thoughts on splitting pick 5? Given the evenness and depth of this draft if we could get a top 10 and a later first round pick it might be worth it. Give JT two picks to work with. Also I wonder if the combine might change the order a bit more this year than others. Could be a few bolters

Trade Targets
I think for Richardson to say this he must be confident that they can get some deals done with mature player they are currently in discussions with.

NON-MFC: Round 24
Suns just went above us in the live ladder. Hello pick 6

POSTGAME: Rd 24 vs Collingwood
Yes, I love Max as player and as a captain. But he has very little mongrel in him. I can’t remember ever seeing him getting physical to stand up for one of our players. Not his style I guess and why should he when none of our players do it for him when the opposition target him all game both on and off the ball.

POSTGAME: Rd 24 vs Collingwood
One thing that gives me the [censored] every time we play the filth is our lack of mongrel and willingness to stand up for team mates. I’m not in the sack Goody camp but I’m convinced it’s down to him. We have players capable of flying the flag, Viney,JVR,Petty,Kossie,Melksham, and May amongst others but never show any fight. I’m convinced this is down to coaching, having a soft leader in Max probably doesn’t help. Collingwood shows a lot more in this regard and still managed to win the free kick count easy. Being harder and willing to stand up for team mates doesn’t mean playing outside of the rules. We need to get a tougher edge to us, getting a bit stronger and been able to stick some tackles wouldn’t be a bad thing either.

2024 22Under22
Jeez how good would it be to have one of those 6 in our midfield. Not sure if any of this years draft class will get to that level but here’s to hoping JT can find us something close with our first pick.

Max Gawn Re-Signs Until 2027
Brilliant news. Big Max is by far and away my favourite Dee. Love how he goes about. I wasn’t confident that he would extend that long. When he said on the Gus and Gawny podcast that he was unlikely to play 250 I thought he had plans to retire. Delighted he is hanging around for 3 more years.

Trade Targets
I’m normally in the “let’s go to the draft” camp but I’d happily give up a couple of good picks to bring Mac back.Only had a nearly game yesterday but you can see his potential. Can play forward, back or ruck and is only going to improve. Would suit our needs perfectly. Not as mobile as Jackson but would dovetail with Max beautifully. Would also mean we would only need to bring in big meat and spuds type of ruck when Max does finally retire. Only one year left on his contract, we can bring in his brother this year if it helps. We would have to make him a massive offer but should have the cap space to be able.

Farewell Alex Neal-Bullen
This is how is see it too. Tim Kelly was in the same position a few years ago with Geelong and they held onto him for an extra year until they got the deal they want. Cats put supports around the family to try and make life easier. We just don’t have the draft capital to be letting a player of Nibblers quality go for peanuts.

Season 2024 Over for Clayton Oliver
Exactly how I saw the interview too. I’d be stunned if Clarry left this trade window.

Where Pickett??

NON-MFC: Round 23
In fairness the odds of it happening are pretty low and as it was the very end of the game the bar would have been shut. I can feel his pain.

2024 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
@spirit of norm smith have you or any other posters seen much of Taj Hotton? Tipped as a top 5 chance before doing his ACL. If so what sort of player is he or who would he remind you of?

2024 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Yeah looked awesome in the Metro game. If he’s not going to go top 10 I hope we split 6 and pick him up. Plays back flanker as well, he will prob start his AFL career there same as we have done with Rivers. Makes a whole lot more sense to me than going for Houston.

An external review of the Melbourne Football Club is required!
Colm is my real name. Can I say what I want?!😂

Greg Stafford
Don’t mind the idea of Jack. He seems to be pretty involved with getting Tassie team up and running and that will probably start taking up more of his time. But he could maybe come in and work with our key forwards during preseason while he has no TV commitments.
-
Greg Stafford
Not a bad shout. Even if it was just to work with our key forwards. We have Petty, JVR, Turner and Jeffo who all seem to have talent but are very green. If we could get them all working well individually and as a group it would be massive for us going forward( no pun intended).

Dan Houston
One thing I don’t think has been brought up and could be a reason why Houston has changed his mind- Normally in these situations Houston would have had a meeting with a group of our players over the last weekend when they were in town. This seems to be standard practise these days. Who would have been the ones selling it to him? Doesn’t sound like Trac would have been there, no point Nibbler going, last year Gus would have been there. I’m sure Max would have been there but he’s 33 and not going to be around for the journey. Probably Rick Lever and a few others but certainly not our A team. Just a thought and one that I think shows how hard Gus and Nibbler are going to be to replace.

Draft or Recruit
The flip side of the coin is if we go hard at the draft we are building for the future and not the next year or two which I think is smart for the club but it’s not great for our older players who will rightly want us to improve to have a proper crack again next year before they miss their own window.
-
Draft or Recruit
Clearly there needs to be a balance but after our recent trades I have very little confidence in our recruitment team. I do however have great confidence in JT and this year draft seem to be full of midfielders and goes very deep so I hope we give JT as many quality picks as possible to and real talent to our already pretty good list of younger players.

Will Brodie
We really have two list to improve. We are going to have to bring in a number of kids over the next two trade/draft windows. If we want them to develop well at Casey then we need to improve the standard of footy there. Dunstan wasn’t up to AFL standard but he was a bloody good VFL player and helped keep Casey up around top of the ladder. Given his numbers in WAFL at worst Brodie would improve Casey or he could take Sparrows spot in the first team and Sparrow improves Casey. For a low pick it’s a yes from me.
