  1. As other have stated Frawley was a better player than McKay. It looks like the AFL is going to look after North anyways. The question now is will they give them pick 3 and access to Sanders. Effectively two top 10 picks. This would greatly compromise the top end of this draft and our pick 4( hopefully). They already have traded out an early second round pick from this draft that was given to them last year.
  2. Points for father/son won’t be an issue. They already have 2nd round pick and can do a 3rd round pick swap with Suns and their future 3rd. Might pick up a lesser pick during trade period either or if they were stuck they could go go into points deficit for next year. Really wouldn’t be hard for them to trade with Suns and be able to have enough points for father/son.
  3. I can’t see us getting the Suns pick for that. Other teams are better placed than us I think. The dogs have two first round picks and a father/son that will be around their picks. By trading uk they get a top 6 pick and their F/S. I do like the thinking though as I think we need a Key defender so if we do the deal to get Reid we need to keep a decent pick for this year as well. If the Suns lose Flanders this year then they may not need as much points for their academy players and may be interested in a future pick as part of the deal.
  4. I’d be surprised if the AFL gave them both access to Sanders and pick 3. Would be a massive hand out. It does seem like they are going to give them something though so maybe access to Sanders and end of first round compo?! Regardless of what picks they end up with, would they take two more midfielders? They already have Sheezel, Wardlaw, LDU and Powell as mids who went in the top 5. Simpkin was another first round pick. If they get Sanders I’m not so sure they will take another mid with a high end pick as they could do with another key forward along side Larkey and another key defender with McKay going. Even if they bring in someone like Tommo they need more young talent coming through in key positions. Im wondering if Mckercher is the one we should target. Trade up for Norths pick.
  5. If we don’t trade up for Reid and Watson is on the board at our then he’s probably best available at our pick and we would have to really consider him. I wasn’t in favour of getting another small forward on but he has won me over. Kossie and him would be a nightmare for other teams defences. Even with his small frame I’d expect him to have a big impact at AFL level next year. If Kossie continues to spend more time in the middle then it would make even more sense. I do agree with others that we would want to have another top 10 pick to draft for needs with our second one.
  6. If North are given access to Sanders then this might make sense. Can’t see them taking 2 mids as they are already well stocked. Moving back from 2 to 4/5 might still allow them to get the player they want and pick up an extra pick at the same time.
  7. More a question about the remainder of our home and away season. We are 2 games and a good percentage clear from 5th spot with games against North and Hawks in our last 5 games. Do we start to manage a few players in order to have them cherry ripe for finals. Chandler looks like he has benefitted from a stint in the twos. Jack Viney, Max, Judd, maybe even Trac are all players that could probably do with a rest before finals both to avoid injury and have them cherry ripe come September. Thoughts?!
  8. We want it much higher than 4. I think 9 would be the sweet spot so we have a good chance of getting it.
  9. Viney Pickett Gawn Chandler Gus Rivers
  10. I know what you mean- I have a banging headache and pain in the neck from tension in that last quarter
  11. I wonder if we would need to give more than that. Our 3 first picks are currently 4, 15 and 22. Which is 3991 points. Pick 1 is 3000. I know to trade up you normally need to pay overs but if WC rate Curtain close to Reid and he comes without any go home factor then 4,15 and 34 might be enough to get it done. Pick 4 is a great pick to have.
  12. Could do with an outside midfielder who can use the ball well going I50, the KPF you mentioned and a Key defender. Steven May doesn’t have long left and I don’t think we have anybody of his caliber in the twos
  13. I heard Sanders give interview after he won the Larke medal and he said his biggest mentor in footy was Harry Sneezel and that they have been on very similar paths. I’d be surprised if North don’t pick him up via priority pick or maybe trade back and get him.
  14. With pick 4 looking more and more likely we will be one of probably only 2 teams that could trade with WC. If they want Curtain then there’s no point in them trading for picks lower than 4 as there would be a strong chance Curtain could be gone. With that in mind it will all depend how highly they rate Curtain- our first two first rounders might be enough to get the deal done. I'm not in favour of giving up 3 firsts as I think we have a few holes to fill.
  15. Watched most of the game last night. To my surprised I thought Freo were the better team and should have won only for a poor start. Still with a a very tough run in I can only see them beating the Hawks and Eagles. If the Suns can get a win today I’d say we can lock in pick 4.
  16. After our game the 3 teams I hope get up are the Lions, Swans and the Suns. If the Suns can’t win this one I see them finishing below Freo.
  17. Can’t say I blame him. His did what was asked of him in terms of going and playing well in the twos- got an opportunity to play in the first team and did all that could be asked of him but instead of being rewarded for a good performance he was sent back to the twos even when Petty was playing injured. He’s a good depth player and we might regret it if we let him go. I think we might hold him to his contract. With JJ also rumoured to be looking around, Tmac, BBB, Melksham and Pig all close to the end it would be hard to find replacements for everyone.
  18. Yeah I tend to agree, although we are well placed in this draft there will probably be other clubs with more to offer for the Suns pick. That doesn’t mean we can’t get a slice of the pie though- we could still get involved. We could trade with GWS for pick 10 therefore improving their chances of getting a deal done with the Suns. Dogs pick 12 could also interest us. Long way to go and ladder position will change before EOS.
  19. Could understand him leaving if he’s offered regular game time at another club. Would probably a good career move for him. Would we be entitled to anything by way of compensation? Hopefully with 3 clubs interested in him it drives his contract value up which might help.
  20. Thought you may have had some information as regards to a player or draftee we’d might brw looking at as BBB and or Tmac replacements. I know we area in need of outside miss this year but have to think we will be looking at a bringing forwards again as well. Milkshake could also be in if the above two mentioned as very near the end.
  21. Kynan Brown will prob come in too who will be a similar type. Shame it hasn’t worked out for Bill and hopefully he gets a trade that works for him.
  22. Daz provided some great info on him earlier in the thread.
  23. Pick 5 from Freo would be a great outcome but I’m hoping for 4 and think swans are a better team and will finish above Freo. I’m more concerned about the Suns dropping down the ladder than the Swans. Given the picks we currently have 4,15,23&34 as well as all of next years picks we have a stronger hand in a supposedly better draft than the year 2019 when we got Jackson, Kossie and Rivers. Regardless of who we bring in it’s going to be very exciting.
