The word legend tends to get thrown around a lot this days but big Maxy is well and truly deserving of it. Legend of a player and of a man.

I’m normally quite conservative with player valuations in terms of draft picks. But not with Kossie, he’s box office, puts bums on seats, great player just hitting his prime. Was pick 12. Is worth more than a top 5 pick alone. Trading him would feel a bit like selling our soul.

I guess it all depends if Trac leaves or not. I want us to go to the draft this year but not with 5/6 first rounders. If we can’t get a quality player coming back the other way then Kossie might have to see out his contract.

I hear what you’re saying, but we can’t trade out that much experience and class in one window. We would be fast tracking our way to be in Richmond’s position when Tassie comes in.
  5. That guy is my hero!!!
  6. I see Lindsay did his PCL over the weekend and may not take part in the combine. If we got a second first round pick I’m hoping we pick him up. Mentha made the Rookie me central team of the week this week too
  7. No need for a review. We brought one of the all blacks in for a chat🤯
  8. 100%, thought we should have one before the Roffey interview debacle but now it’s a no brainer for me.
  9. Not even a marquee player- any player or staff that ends up in ICU due to a work related incident should have the club leader get in touch and offer support. That’s what a good culture is all about. Offering support in times of need. God I’m angry.
  10. I think this is two fold- not being in constant contact with Trac and his folks during the first few weeks and since word has come out that he is unhappy is unacceptable from our leader. But to go on live radio radio when the Trac story is the main topic of discussion and not having the intelligence to think that you 1- should speak to the Trac beforehand 2- know that you would be asked if you’ve spoken to him. shows she has NFI what she’s doing. Bye Bye Kate
  11. I’m with you but I’m not sure the team, recruitment team or footy department is. Richardsons comments about needing to get older not younger at a bit of an alarm bell for me. Our aging stars are not going to want to put the cue in the rack while they finish their careers. Will goody survive long enough to see even a mini rebuild through? Will our recruitment team put their hands up and say they have made too many mistakes over the past 3 years and start a rebuild? If Trac stays do you think he will be happy to hear we are going to the draft to build for the future not the now? Like I said I’m with you in that it’s time to go to the draft hard. I think JT is the one good edge we have over other teams. I wouldn’t trade out our F1st though. It could be a very good pick. As an example if we could get Essendon's pick 8, 28 and F1st for Trac and 38$42- I’d take use 5, 8 and 25 at the draft( perhaps spitting 8) use the others for some mature players. Then next year we would have 2 first rounders and our two future first to go all out and try to bring in a couple of guns like Butters, MacAndrew and Callaghan.
  12. Ok I’m sold. Sign him up JT

The way this week is going I’m not expecting a good outcome.
  14. All the talk is that this draft is super deep with some handy types expected to be picked late in the second and early third round. The very top players in this draft don’t seem to be rated as highly as those in the past few years.
  15. Have you seen much of him @spirit of norm smith? I remember his lack of pace/athleticism was what was keeping him out of the top 10 predictions before he put some good form together. Same could be said of Reid. Thoughts?!
  16. I know we need an A grade midfielder but what’s peoples thoughts on splitting pick 5? Given the evenness and depth of this draft if we could get a top 10 and a later first round pick it might be worth it. Give JT two picks to work with. Also I wonder if the combine might change the order a bit more this year than others. Could be a few bolters

I think for Richardson to say this he must be confident that they can get some deals done with mature player they are currently in discussions with.

Suns just went above us in the live ladder. Hello pick 6
  19. Ok soft was probably the wrong choice of wording. The man will play on one leg. Let’s say non aggressive and doesn’t have much mongrel about him which my initial post was about.
  20. Yes, I love Max as player and as a captain. But he has very little mongrel in him. I can’t remember ever seeing him getting physical to stand up for one of our players. Not his style I guess and why should he when none of our players do it for him when the opposition target him all game both on and off the ball.
  21. One thing that gives me the [censored] every time we play the filth is our lack of mongrel and willingness to stand up for team mates. I’m not in the sack Goody camp but I’m convinced it’s down to him. We have players capable of flying the flag, Viney,JVR,Petty,Kossie,Melksham, and May amongst others but never show any fight. I’m convinced this is down to coaching, having a soft leader in Max probably doesn’t help. Collingwood shows a lot more in this regard and still managed to win the free kick count easy. Being harder and willing to stand up for team mates doesn’t mean playing outside of the rules. We need to get a tougher edge to us, getting a bit stronger and been able to stick some tackles wouldn’t be a bad thing either.

Jeez how good would it be to have one of those 6 in our midfield. Not sure if any of this years draft class will get to that level but here’s to hoping JT can find us something close with our first pick.
  23. Brilliant news. Big Max is by far and away my favourite Dee. Love how he goes about. I wasn’t confident that he would extend that long. When he said on the Gus and Gawny podcast that he was unlikely to play 250 I thought he had plans to retire. Delighted he is hanging around for 3 more years.

I’m normally in the ā€œlet’s go to the draftā€ camp but I’d happily give up a couple of good picks to bring Mac back.Only had a nearly game yesterday but you can see his potential. Can play forward, back or ruck and is only going to improve. Would suit our needs perfectly. Not as mobile as Jackson but would dovetail with Max beautifully. Would also mean we would only need to bring in big meat and spuds type of ruck when Max does finally retire. Only one year left on his contract, we can bring in his brother this year if it helps. We would have to make him a massive offer but should have the cap space to be able.

This is how is see it too. Tim Kelly was in the same position a few years ago with Geelong and they held onto him for an extra year until they got the deal they want. Cats put supports around the family to try and make life easier. We just don’t have the draft capital to be letting a player of Nibblers quality go for peanuts.
