  1. I was there last Thursday and am willing to give an excuse as I was soaked after 2 by 1.5 km walks and packed light rail trip of 12/15 mins. So I feel that true skill in the slippery conditions made us look jittery and uncertain and lacking in dare. However we were one paced mostly ( Kossie can overcome some of this look but ) but the small ground was not used by us well either. Only Sunday will give us a pointer to our frailties but we need to lift or the Dogs will be too quick in pace and ball movement. JUH worries me I don’t think we have a natural defender to mind him. He is too slippery then he will out mark other medium defenders. Maybe Marty might be a chance but Stephie will have his hands full with Norton. On the contrary maybe our forwards will far a bit of a respite. But who would you back to score 90 plus points to win or score more accurately? Dogs with tutor forward riches do we will need to get back to our contest around the ball and English will be formidable zi predict. Is just getting better and better. Maybe Fullarton should be thrown in to help Maxie who iwes us one ( he knows). If we can jag a win on Sunday beat Hawks then the cavalry might be back up forward for SA for 2 huge games. Tigers await and we need to beat them. If so a 3-3 result is not season defining at this stage. Petty is the big one as he will take pressure off Rooy who must start leading more than flying from the back of the pack. Crumbles also must be in position. ( terrible Goodwin selection of Spargo too soon without a game or two in Casey) Billing’s great start not honoured is not a good look after Saints left him cold also. McAdam is prob 3/4 weeks away. (Would you play him without Casey warm up games???) may be SA start too rich to start career in. One Swallow ( Sparrow ) was underwhelming also and fumbled like all of us did. New game Sunday as we don’t as a rule play 2 bad games in a row. Sydney’s form vs Pies on Sat night might give us an idea perhaps also. Hope we honour Angus Sat to raise the bar also.
  2. That’s when we have them all available. Thats not often either. New coach even Mini not Stafford. If he can’t get his message across move him on. Need an expert from who is unbiased to go in and spend time with the group and come up with some moves etc. Employ Johnno Brown perhaps Mathew Lloyd or Jack Reiwolt ??
  3. New coach please for a start.
  4. But thats our smalls minus Kossie. What about our talls? Yes what is it Picket?
  5. Yes tho it’s on the FD and Goody. Can’t understand his continued support of the Club it’s got to change as has our luck with injury etc .
  6. Good points Last night we gave 3/4 goals with stupidity plus careless play. Was nearly as bad as the semi Final in discipline. Sparrow a 60m not 50 to the ump, penalty, Max’s putrid kick out of bounds resulted in a goal plus Jake and Stephen left the ball behind in the square for a goal and JV refused to hand pass to a teammate in the clear just around the square who was unmarked and got caught holding. None of this would have occurred in 2021 with the defence and team ethic that year. Four goals all stoppable or gettable (the last) but team was not the priority and its about time the leaders ( not Goody) realised this and took responsibility to change it or no flag. All the leaders can do this with very little effort but it will make us a five goal better team and bloody hard to beat. Again our forward woes showed up that needs to be a priority as well. All forwards need to have their say and solve it themselves if we are to prosper in2024 or waste another season. Now is the time to act Dees to safeguard the team spirit ethic and act so that the good young players are totally indoctrinated into the Demon Spirit and game plan.
  7. Give Billing’s a go another of Simon’s completely from Outer space Sub selections. Maybe he had Spargs 10/12 per game possies and disposal in mind but Billings gets 15 plus surely an advantage and his disposal is not too shabby either. Give Woe the nod over Marty but it does make our defence more vulnerable but at least Woe may be able to rotate with Salo occasionally.
  8. Sorry does matter. TMI no matter what and it’s presented in such a polite and easy manner!!’ Stop being the nice guy and bare a claw or two Maxy. Let your actions speak and not your words for a while!
  9. You don’t have to be of AFL standard just be clumsy and brutal like Mumford or Nankervis of the Tiger variety. Sure you get a holiday once a year but imagine how heavy you can be upon your return.
  10. Yes that’s right but others could be a bit stronger around the ball and our tackling was ok at best and embarrassing at worst. Sparrow looked as though he had handled too many financial documents during the week even allowing for the soapy ball! I was totally wrapped in humidity following the game walk around the ground to the light rail then being swished inside a carriage that seemed like a misfit from Singapore with more people in than legally allowed. Then the 15 min walk from Mascot station was the final watering of T shirt and face plus head before the sanctity of the Aircon at my hotel. Phew Sydney made home city Brisbane feel comfortable after 31 years. Dont underestimate it in thinking about the G next Sunday. We also have to be thankful we aren’t scheduled to play Lions ( like Blues tonight and us in Round2 last season) till the humidity disappears in April. To September. Some one from the Blues turn the lights out again to get a breather in the last half or quarter!!!!
  11. Mid season draft got the strongest most clumsy physical specimen to relieve ( not fo5 mins per quarter but 15 to hurt the opposition ruck ie Grundy and Co. URGENT or Max will be “cooked “ with BBB and Tmac and we will have a triple retirement package that makes the current Kiwi dribble look like a youngsters first birthday party. Granted the humidity WAS a factor ( not necessarily be admitted in public though). Sometimes Max is too truthful in public speeches and gives the opportunity for the future opposition to note little facts that are best not revealed no matter what. Time to fasten the lips Maxie and have Vines confuse the press with his half mouth half accent ( not known old SA brogue perhaps?). Let’s keep some secrets in house. Over to you TL and JT get scouting and keep a large Demon jumper to fit the lucky tapper and thumper.
  12. All changeable within a week it’s just that a couple have been perennial offenders for nearly 2 seasons now.
  13. No Rivers could/should have been injected at 3/4 time at least at the bounce (Oh for Kossie) and probably around the ground to lift us. I’m treating it with caution but re Maxie it did not look good tonight. He was I feel cooked by 3/4 time and didn’t go for one of Stephie’s long kickout bombs in Q4 through exhaustion and they got a goal. The big drop off was only ONE quarter really so the humidity may well have been a substantial reason after all. Nothing has.changed re the forward line except Fritta was easily our best with others miles behind but the defence was unusually under complete pressure with the breakdown of the mids in the final term when the Swans went up at least 2 notches as we coincidentally dropped a couple. And Brody won the big man battle by honest good rucking. Don’t think JJ was a major player but his total of 18 possessions was more than some of our counterparts in that position. BTW it does no good saying so and so has played his last game and never to play again. Sport does not generally quantify that way thank goodness. And nor should MFC only give one chance to any player also. Many fumbled or weren’t at their total best so the same slack and opportunity is afforded to all but some are needed to step up their skills and urgency to AFL standards back at the G next week or the Dogs might at long last repay our scoring feats of the 2021 GF and humble us in Round1. A Swan (Swallow/ Sparrow) does not a summer maketh remember. It’s only about really ONE quarter and this group of players have a pretty decent record since halfway through 2020 on that score. A repeat and alarm bells will be ringing all across the Melbourne ( Victorian and Aussie landscape ) nevertheless.
  14. Agree I walked a 1 km from Mascot after about 2 laps around the SCG and Accor Stadium and in the light rail all crowded in together and my Tshirt was ringing wet. it could have been a bigger factor in the last quarter as we definitely slowed down and the Swans last 10 players all ran on top of the ground all night. We looked one pace really without Kossie and the smaller ground was not played well by us. Another Baffling Sub choice. Billing’s instead of Spargs who has not had a lot of recent training or match practice. Not a great game from him and he could have come on fresh say at 3:4 time and Billing’s played from start. Chandler Can’t with Spargs and Laurie either play all 3 together in the 22. Lets see what next week happens but will need to get more life and pace in team of Dogs might run us off the G.
  15. Prelim in West and Hawks early on. Cwood not great on QB either. In 2018 or 2021 either. Brisbane put in 2 shockers last year vs Suns at Carrara and Hawks at the G. No ones perfect.
  16. Kossie and Woe for starters. I’d drop Spargo play Billing’s and Kynan B and not sure on Chandler and Schache after only one game. .
  17. Overreaction Sue. Players can handle the questions with skill and it makes all players much more valuable and approachable to learn how to cope with the media. Very few situations that you have quoted and shares the learning of basic skills as growth for individuals.
  18. But he still tries to do too much and misses handball ops which cost us goals, Someone else said first thought best to move ball on and that is right.
  19. Why has he got 2. Votes then???
  20. Spargo is available. So is BBB but neither have done the work in last month to be even a sub. Woe or Pup Kynan could be Sub or from left field Fullarton but again no fanfare so not happening IMO.
  21. Not all players have to be stereotyped . Caleb wasn’t strong enough to make debut this season and look?? Marvellous h ow 2 great goals fixed all that. Yes Howes could build up but give him a go at least and back in the selectors. We need the skills of Duke Jibba and Howes as we have lots of other bulls out there. These guys fit skills can turn our disposal aroun. Kolt Fullarton and McAdams are waiting in the wings !!
  22. Have you checked Tmacs form in the curtain raiser last Wed. Picket? Summary said both he and Marty were pretty reliable and in fair touch.
