  1. To be honest Petty is the single best Hope we have of solving our forward line problems. I have no hesitation in saying he is/ will be a better player than McKsy Tilthorpe is still maturing and Lynch has been there done that. All our questions from D/Lers re Perry's injury should cool their jets and wait till he comes back. My opinion Harry is a better chance 7 years younger than Lynch at 31 with a season long foot problem. The karma of Tom playing a Maynard role has come back to bite. No way should Harry be available for trade he is worth 2 of the Crows young forward flankers.
  2. That's not true Stafford has had 2 years to solve our forward issues no injuries and some. But no result
  3. Dee above says Andrew is replacing Yze in his role as the mids coach.
  4. This is what coaching and renewing game plans snd new staff are great. A new voice and ideas. Haven't heard of any other changes but will be furious if no forward coach change is made. I personally would have been happy for Andrew to be the new forward coach Let's wait and see.
  5. Bang you are probably right that that was the reason he wanted out but the point I made is that ND was too ready to say yes only thinking that Jeff White could ruck alone and do the job. Of course Jama was around snd cover maybe but we lost out through ND too easy a yes to Jolly. Is what I gleaned to this trade. That in no way reflects what a great ruck Mark became culminating in 2010 with AA selection.
  6. It is all about how he handles himself really. He had setbacks and remember the Club is not innocent in this charade. FD and Hoody. Who was running the medical reports? Goody should have been told to leave that to Selwyn each week and only do the facts not predictions on the next round or two. This did not help Clarry clearly. It confused and thsts the vision on the TV blowing up about his injury. I am not a medical person but it was a very long time before the issue was resolved. Wasn't there any other medical advice that could have been sought? A very hard lesson for all and again another reason why we missed out on 2nd plus winning tight Finals games at the end. Very many decisions over the season mainly last two months Leading up to games or in them resulted in us virtually losing the 1% ers that would have got us and not the Pies and Blues across the line. From the Schache sub to the Goal Reviews to the forward and connection decision making we made our own bed and had to lie on it eventually. Goody should own up about the sub decision as a mistake. Please don't go down the Rory Lobb path it's not leading any where. Let's get a big fish be it Lynch McKay or another if we can and make sure we get 2 elite recruits from the 4/5 picks we have. JT and Lambie should be burning the midnight oil in the next 6/8 weeks as they do so well. We looked a Club that couldn't control its destiny at the end and thsts the very difference between the Pies and other top teams this season. Lions made expensive GF errors 50m like us snd late red time after siren goals killed them. They agsin hit the run of the green with Daicos the underserving beneficionary of the first and virtually only head high tackle as he slid down to exaggerate his shoulder's position. Lions defence had lapses that always let The Pies recover. Guess the pressure is the issue same way we should have won but couldn't find a way. Win that QF and the Flag was probably ours Forwards injuries and all. All Clubs have seen the Pies blueprint for 51 games now and need to practise match situations far better to catch them out. Also greater aggression is necessary at the start and end of quarters. We are still in our prime but need a reality check with a recruiting splurge of a classy and confident outside runner plus big forward to join JVR Harry P and Fritta plus our smalls and mids and another young defender to add along with Disco Jed Adams for the near present and future also. Oh and a young Matt Flynn type to assist Gawny. We have no trouble attracting star players to our Club and we have the were with draft and trade tools to add another layer or two to our existing list Hope we can accomplish a great deal over the two periods upcoming so critical for our future.
  7. See my take below on the same issue of Harry's price compared to Brody's.
  8. Not every trade is the same GD. Carlton are not in a clearing salary dump like Pies and McKay is in his prime age 25 with 5/7 years to play. He also has recent form ( and potential to improve still). Brody had not played for 12 months virtually.and is 29 with maybe 3/4 years at most. First rounder plus second ( or both futures) would be best case scenario and 3rd/4th back possibly. The feeling is that Harry has much room for improvement in his game awareness and potential to be a 60 goal plus a season forward added to Petty JVR Fritta Trac Kossie McAdam ANB and Jefferson. Just imagine him tip the scales for us to swallow the four and 2 point losses with Harry parading the MCG! Makes me think 2 first rounders is more the go with the token 3:4 draft pick in return. Where do other D/Lers sit on this one presuming you are for this mega trade which might rescue the crucial life of a still to be ( potential) dynasty?
  9. His salary would be outrageous for us considering his output. Verrall May be a quick learner and be useful by end of 2024. Reckon we will get possibly Flynn hopefully,
  10. You can't win them all Axis but my point about the Swans still stands as it's record of success over the years
  11. Rjay join WWSW under that rock. Darren Jolly was freely given permission to go to the a Swans from none other than The Reverend ND as he believed we didn't need a second ruck to help Jeff White. Worst decision by ND IMOpinion. Maybe my definition of unwanted is different to yours but JK was freely traded and Ted was a bit like Sam W with us and finally left the Bonbers to become a very valuable player at full back for the Swans. Sometimes a Club treats a player as if they don't want them by selection processes and JJ and Bedford could come under that category, but the Club still wants to keep them. They have for eg. publicly touted Tommo was a required player but not as strongly with Toby or JJ. Regrettably we have still some young Casey players awaiting their debuts and others consistent chances to attempt to bridge the VFL/AFL gap. Clearing out about 6/7 from our 23 to 33 best players is a risk but not if we recruit and trade well, plus our youngsters are offered opportunities we may be surprised at the results. Depth can be deceptive but is no good if not offered realistic opportunities and not all players have a patience at not getting a regular go at becoming established in the AFL Team.
  12. We seem almost desperate if Lobb is a prospect. Perhaps we could trade our 40 th player the Schache for Rory though back to the Doggies. McKay is a good footballer who if worked with seriously could be a big bonus which we could succeed but let's not sell the farm in case it fails .
  13. Yes they may be No 25/26 on their existing Clubs lists but by the time they have retired they are around A graders or at least high B. Sorry WWSW but perhaps you have either a memory lapse or have been under a rock for the last few seasons. Think Josh Kennedy Darren Jolly Ted Richards are prime examples of many. Buddy maintained his really high standards and also extended his legendary status. Swans have won 2 flags and played in 6 GF in the last 18 years. They have been at the top of creating "treasure" from (unwanted players from other Clubs ) ie. "trash ". JJ will be handy and Brody won't be a poor recruit for a Swan's.
  14. No we have to have 40,000 minimum of our existing members of say 75,000 next season attending and that will be sufficient to continue our rise.
  15. Kelli was not a commentator last night. it was Chylow ..... or similar. Sorry name is incorrect. But who cares.
  16. Firstly Harmes is a good player in certain situations tagging mostly. But he tries to do too often the Fusty send off and gets caught trying snd doesn't learn. I have no doubt Harmesy thinks he had been hardly done but needs to get over that. Sort of agree with you re depth he's handy to have but his set shot goal kicking has tapered off also. Don't agree with you re Laurie. Small sample but looked good as sub vs Swans snd Hawks. But not so in the QUAL final when he came in early. Think he has a year to run on his contract ( not sure) but feel if he could play as per sub form he would be a very good AFL player clever poised and team oriented plus good disposal. Whst does Woew need to do other than get more experience ? Games into him is the key. Looked good.
  17. But those picks pushing out the numbers are already "earmarked" for Academy or Father/Son and can be selected at any time with the points or eligibility. The other selections are still available in total just pushed back one in the system for every pick made from these choices.
  18. But he Sanders was the freebie if it was given. They wanted him as he was adjudged as part of their North Academy by the AFL. They definitely wanted him because of that and were wanting no restrictions on him. But fortunately AFL for once didn't give this as a freebie. Just shows how AFL are hypocritical even on their own decisions. What a wasted piece of posturing by both.
  19. Sanders not available till after pick 40. North won't get him. ( same rule as for Mac Andrews.)
  20. Pass we don't need any extra half backs thanks I don't think.
  21. Not the worst suggestion either. But more of a reserve Back than a goal kicking ruck resting forward!! Bit like Tommo I suspect pace not his best asset but is solid in body snd now in mind.
