Stop referring to Salo every time a team is announced by one of our posters. You have already declared he should no t play unless he can jump ove the moon and backwards because he was not at his best last year and was persistently picked. I just think it’s ironic when you have your D/L name as Kent. I may be wrong but if you are named after our recently retired via Saints half forward flanker you should know all about a player played when not fit or in form and or never really got a permanent place in our team. Reason was he was a weak player under pressure and also was not all that skilful. Couldn’t kick right foot. Should have been delisted earlier. And now you pot Salo in the best5 on the ground in our 2021GF and had a great season. He is training the house down now so beware you might have to pick him.

Apologies in 2020 nearly every one was hubbing in QLD or NSW from June to Sept but in 2021 it was mainly interstate hubs for weeks not months in different states. But Casey was our headquarters in 2021 for training and club centre.
-
I may be in denial but my recollection of 2020 was of the mainstream of all Clubs in hubs. Tigers on GC and the Cotchin files plus West Coasters sulking and timely non acceptance of being on the other side of the earth. What did happen from my memory for the Dees was that Casey was made our complete club centre as a footy base for the obvious isolation reasons in 2021. Not with AFLW but AFL. In 2020 games were held in QLD from June to Sept/Oct and other small bases but not Victoria. There was some hubbing but mostly interstate teams were involved. So I maintain Casey was our headquarters for much of 2021 and of course we spent a month nearly in WA over the Finals to triumph for that much loved and long waited for Flag.

You made the statement and before your pen is dry he has appeared at training at Goschs with an accomplice in a high prized vehicle trotting out the equivalent of 13kms on one session. I am pretty certain he wouldn’t be laying a base that thick for only 5 games in a crucial year for players and his well being. Perhaps you just got it wrong and he may miss as little of 5 games in 2024. Wonderful news if Clarry is in a space that he is feeling good and even positive at this stage. Of course there’s plenty of Yarra water under the Punt Road bridge to flow but all fans have real hope that our 4 times BandF champion is in a better life space and consequently his one major aim of AFL is starting to bloom as well. We can all only hope and pray 2024 will be one Clarry can enjoy and do what he feels happy doing. If that means getting kicks on the G then a whole fan base plus many thousands of other admirers will also be a lot happier.

You are persisting in calling it a dilemma. While foot issues are complex ( refer Tmac) not all are. Going by reports from training on the last week he is now starting to do laps and is off the treadmill, more foreword than Tom Lynch for eg. who anticipates to be avail for Zero/Opening Round/s approx, 7/8 weeks away for both teams.

Well what a reprimand !! I am writing this from the naughty corner and await your next instructions Bluey. What you have done previously has not been recent enough and if it’s back in the Jackson era I was not on D/L. Your recent “good money after Bad” posts are to be honest simply a statement without support. I don’t expect to have to wade back to your previous posts as. if they were either sensible and contributing I would recall you as a very regular poster on this matter. So your admission now that you are opposed because of your cruelty to animals belief which is totally irrelevant to 99% of people in this day and age. Industry has self regulated and that is not something so small as to stop a development as crucial as ours to proceed. If you put motherhood statements like yours then be prepared for lack of recognition or a request for detail that is updated and relevant. If by chance I have in any way underestimated your opinion or position both privately or publicly then Perhaps look at your method of passing your opinion on this forum and also the real relevance to the topic as we have been enlightened since the AGM. I am getting hungry so am leaving my naught corner Sir to enjoy the rest of the day. The Club has a golden opportunity with this proposal and old chestnuts should not be trotted out as any strength of opposition due to the location of the project which is about as good a viable land proposal we will get in Melbourne inner or otherwise. Go Dees.
-
He’s really only shooting blanks OD but let’s see if he has any credibility or real common sense in this matter.

If you read the post on Brody in D/L you should be able to glean approx. what the deal was. I seem to recall we were paying about $625,000 per season but for quite me. What is your point ? Yes it might be available but we have 3 new recruits and have traded Brody Harmes JJ and Hibbo has retired. Let’s wait and see how Harry goes up forward over the first half the season and how Adelaide goes and also down back. They may be perfectly happy with Curtain.
-
Please go into detail Bluey ? Your statement says nothing or any back up to why.
-
Harry P as a 60/80 plus goal kicker ( for the next 5/7 years) is a far more important player at MFC than Harry the Stevie May replacement. Without underestimating his ability goals are harder to score than save. If ever a Club needed reminding about this fact look at our record ( no matter what injuries continued surgery complications or underdone comebacks) it is undisputable. We also forget that both JVR and Jed Adams have both at reasonably high WA junior and possibly National level shown a skill to play down back and indeed Full Back as well as forward. So our Stevie replacement is possibly right under our own nose. Let’s hope we are quick enough to recognise this ( we may have already as per Curtain non preference for 2 mid/ forward / goal licking types in the Kolt and Duke). Harry will succeed IMO so how high can we go $$ wise and how long his contract be reasonably timed when we frame our next proposal for him to stay.
-
It’s called timing and short of funding it himself ( after his salvation funding of us) he Joe G was quite right in refusing involvement in a scheme we had no way of getting off the ground. Perhaps his only error was not to appear as if we had done any sums etc. on the matter.
-
What are we packing up and selling the farm at end if 2024 ? And how are the grapes going to be? You are only guessing to back your last year comments up. Sounds like we need a good vintage this year or else. As an ardent observer of the VFL team you must not have any faith in the best of Casey youngsters helping the VFL team continue its Top4 placings.
-
IYO. Fantastic facility and just because it’s not near your BACK DOOR you can’t be bothered with it.
-
Deever Part of your post “ we are not a big Club supporter wise” . This annoys me as we are FIFTH largest in figures last season HOME Attendances And in 2024 we were in the TOP8 in membership in AFL. So the longer you wish to wrongly paint the picture of 2012/13 of poor rundown little Melbourne and perpetuate this myth that we don’t get help because we are small and insignificant you put our Club backwards. Just the same as unwanted and unnecessary criticism of Casey hurts the Club especially the recent upgrades in facilities and ground etc. The photo of the guys turning up at Casey going into our facility today was impressive and showed th at our efforts are well worth the time and liaison with the City over the decade. GP is fine as a training venue also updated but Casey has the lot but needs to be travelled to to be enjoyed and utilised.

SWYL You are clearly not reading the tea leaves. We all acknowledge our FOUR Finals losses ( Straight sets) in a row. It is fact but as you should read more D/L ers have analysed snd came to the conclusion that injury and bad luck plus horrible forward connection and inaccuracy over those games has cruelled us. Whst are we doing about it? Well we have recruited specifically to remedy this forward line weakness via trade and draft selections plus retain our best forwards and hit that our oldest pair may have one last injury free year to turn the clock back. We now await the pre season start of 2024 and the proof in the pudding is serious from today at Casey to the last Dat in September!
-
Bummer!! eh MCW.
-
Obviously a golf accident and can play in the next 3 rounds of pennant. Nothing to answer for. Please move on everyone.
-
Bailey had been sub the previous week in Sydney vs the Swans and played a good quarter and bit. Was apparently never on the ball vs Pies which most Dees fans say where he should be placed.
-
Results however will tell the tale of Casey being the major training ground with about 20 advantages over Goschs In our drought breaking 2021 premiership. The facilities at Casey recently only upgraded are second to none for professional footballers and not just a field made out of open space like Casey. And the size of the ground and its surface plus dimensions of the MCG which no doubt assists our AFL boys adjust to training and moves on the same size. About the only advantage of Goschs is location which some Club supporters allow to blinker judgement on Casey for any little event that is played or held let alone the historic playing home ground advantage to both the AFL and VFL teams. An hours drive into the country was the privilege of our immortal 2021 heroes and could well be again in 2024 if we lift the flag again. Yes it would be nicer if we could actually gain admission to the ground to watch our heroes on occasions. Mr Picket excluded also unfortunately.
-
But Schache should have bee bought on mid way through the 3rd quarter vs the Blues. He could hav played a similar plan to Frampton did in the GF. Deliberately just hinder his opponent and other backs. No one will ever know if he could have jagged 1 or 2 or 3 marks and kicked straight. Goody let himself down not trying this at least.
-
Sorry but you don’t need to artificially create chaos to have it. Players and Coaches are flat out getting successful results from team plans that are often needed to cope with chaos from the opposition. Have you ever played any team sport? If you haven’t most teams systems work to a relatively straight forward and simple but uncomplicated plan. Players vary greatly in abilities and response to learning so I am content to leave your suggestions to an American coach and team that seem to thrive on total chaos and near confusion.

Also supports Stevie May in his comments. Law of averages also backs this up about beating them. Boy dies this Filth need a hiding or two from us this year. Once in HandA and also in a Final.
-
So where do McAdam Billing’s and others like AMW Kolt and Caleb Windsor fit into your 2024 plans. McAdam and/or Billing’s wil help our forward line and even Fullarton will get an opportunity. Not all of our 2023 forwards will be there during the season if our recruits live up to expectations. I believe McAdam will be a lock plus Billing's a chance also. And don’t rule out Kolt and Duke (Windsor getting opportunities to debut. Also AMW appeals as does Howes and of course Taj. KP wise we may even get some good service from BBB and Fullarton is a chance of playing in the AFL also. Plenty of chances to assist our forward line and a game plan plus greater connectivity will make a great difference. Also JVR cannot wait to see him further develop his skills and ability plus team play and X factor. 2024 should be a great response to our 2022-23 disappointments
-
Agree though the six or more wines that still a very reasonable comment. I believe many Demon fans agree with Stevie. Now is the time to follow it up in pre season right through to late in September. Lady Luck would be good for our group after 2022/23 but I fully believe that we will solve the forward and connecting issues as well as our horrible inaccuracy issues.
