Jake ( Rick) says Hi’ Where do I rate?
-
I don’t know Werridee where this is coming from. All summer you have MORE THAN OFTEN in your rather frequent teams for this week, month, Aust day, Lunar New Year, Valentine’s Dayetc. Placed Tommo at CHB much to my frustration when Disco was fit. I don’t agree with your latest tirade and agree with Young Blood’s very balanced post. However I believe Disco will possibly be a better bet for our defence based on what I saw vs Swans in Round 24 last season. But he got dropped and neither played vs Pies. Bad move our 3 talls has proved a constructive and consistent safeguard in our success since Round 1 in 2021. Naturally if the third tall is considered superfluous it’s ok to change but Thsts where I think Disco will be a smarter third tall by seasons end. Actuall can’t wait for Jed Adams to arrive as well. Maybe later this season might be a chance. He IMO is Stephies long term replacement ( not this season yet) of course. But rounding out this opinion is fluid but the 3 talls are rather comforting and successful for us over the journey and Tommo has gone a good/ great job all things considered and was unlucky of course to miss the Flag.

PRESEASON TRAINING: Tuesday 27th February 2024

Wouldn’t he be a good chance up forward in due course if our defence holds up and he develops his confidence? Or one step at a time? Also now “close checking or defending” in the practice game did Blake any favours. -

You have a very short memory. Tmac has brought the whole blame for our Finals straight exit on his shoulders or his possible leg injuries. I think it’s a great idea as Goody doesn’t always think of changes or experimentation. Half a season back MAY sweeten him up for possible cameos or longer up forward if his fitness holds all season. Rank and file have already written off Tmac and BBB as “live” possibilities this season. They are cooked or dead!! I’m might be old fashioned but we deserve a break with both so the Footy Gods might just smile our way this year! We can only hope with both Premiership forwards!! -

Old old story not every recruit develops at the same rate. We expect all to be linear and quick to adapt. Think of Petty Vs Clarry for eg. Howes vs Kynan Brown for eg. That's what I am talking about!! -

Tarax You are confusing the rush back of injured Demons as the Cavalry arriving with the “Greatest Show on Earth” the fabulous Calgary Stampede!! A must see once in a lifetime at the end of a Rocky Mountaineer gold leaf rail ride with the bar opening at 10am in the morning. Bailey’s on ice never tasted so good!! -
I am sick and tired of D/Lers blaming the MFC media ad nauseam. Some here had tasteless potshots over the last day. If they had looked at the Training schedule released today was the return after a break. So if no news exists no news is given especially no Club updates. On another level some D/Lers on here seem to reckon that they are privileged and entitled to extra news, inclusion, etc from the Club. As if for having the privilege to vent their feelings and opinions in this forum it gives the opportunity for extra Club to shower them with exclusive content etc. Others are “I have given $xxx and ….you know the lines. We are all passionate fans and of course are different but this forum is really for getting some things off your chests and also sharing in the highlights of our footy and gloating occasionally or being frustrated or angry on others. It provides a great opportunity but we are not owed any more than the other fans that choose to be more private. BTW Kent still don’t see the point in publishing a list of TBC, it served not one persons information in the least. May as well put the iconic 4-6 weeks if you thought it funny or sending a message!
-
But all players listed as TBC tells nothing. Unless Andy puts list under his Demonland heading it’s most likely an opinion only. Too many Demonlanders depend upon posts from us which are a mash of info of no real substance. I am staggered at the random Team selections by our members some going straight to Round1 completely ignoring Opening Round as if it doesn’t exist. And until the club publishes an update for the practice match all bets on players availability are off IMO. Then after Wef night we are then talking seriously on the real team for Sydney IMO. BTW not one D/L has praised our MFC website with the Angus retirement posts and videos. I think they have been good and hit the mark. Credit where credit is due. A couple of AFL site Footy Feed ( other than Darcy Moore delivering a credit on Maynard’s behalf trying to support his pathetic attempts of sincerity to Angus. It resembles a car crash perpetrator or his family trying to apologise to his victims after the event. Generally silence is golden in this situation of course due to legality issues. But the CFC and Pies army cannot gain any cred with us we clearly and correctly identify that blood is all over their hands ( and mouths). Well done Dees Media.
-
Another logical reasoned answer to another attempt to embarrass the FD and chief recruiting officers. Somewhere between an army vehicle and a sledgehammer approach is Poita’s approach. In between occasionally a balanced left uppercut that grazes the chin for a point!!
-
The tram as I understand goes up from Flinders St Station in Eliz st. Just ask the driver. Info usually available on the back of the shelter at the tram stop.
-
But we can’t play all players who have missed some preseason as some will be under done I believe. Kent has simply made a list which has no real date or any info. Other than Disco being 7-9 weeks away. For eg he has posted Angus still on the list nearly 24 hours after he has retired. Is guesswork so go to the Club website and get latest. Or look up City newspapers for more update info. On Carlton game hopefuls and Opening Round chances. Players that can’t play or injury will prevent are Kossie Disco And Petty. Balance is some will play vs Blues and possibly be available for Sydney game or Some may not come up in time.

Agree Binman it’s just our depth that if an injury to JV or Trac or Clarry puts great pressure on the other2. However last year we handled it quite ok ( with Angus help) do we need an array of others to vary our group plus not rob Peter to pay Paul. Hun in evaluating our defence did not even mention Riv. Glaring omission but with quality cameos not quantity we can also make it a strength . Not sure I agree that 2,talls is the way to go. History has proven 3 is required so Jake can play his proper role as interceptor. Disco could do that I believe. Tommo on most occasions has over time has been a good ally. Hore not so much. Adams might during the season present a compulsive reason to be elevated. I think it might be better to bring him in early rather than late if he shows the aptitude and concentration for the team defence he would join. Also Disco would be nearly ready for return halfway through the season. As ever it won’t be our onballers who are to blame but our connection plus ability to get our star forwards on the park and convert with reasonable accuracy.
-
June late would be 10 mth as partly predicted RIF. (If it occurs. )
-
Good luck with Tributes to Gus he deserves them.
-
You have done a sort if reasonable summary RIF. Strangely my post earlier comes up with some similar thought's. I don’t have the apprehension most here have for our mids as I believe perhaps Goody will have to be creative no matter what. Perhaps he can also be as creative with the forwards as well. Out of the wreck we may find some rough diamonds who really develop quickly. Life is always full of opportunities and let’s put faith in the list to produce like youth and some experience can do. There is a few shoots there who can grab the bull by the horns maybe. Let’s hope, let’s see.
-
While I believe any of the suggested examples would/could be good suggest the DA work in with the Vlub about its intentions on that day to honour him. I would think he would be offered a motorcade or walk around the ground at half time. At sometime Gus highlights on the scoreboard should be shown if he is honoured with the half time respects. Certainly the 10 minute clap is a popular one and banner tributes both sides perhaps if possible. Club should also promote It as a Gus Day and some item be chosen as a tribute or T shirt for fans all ages. no pressure but it’s only 3/4 weeks away!

Dees Could Become ‘One of the Worst One-Hit Wonders’
58er replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
On second thoughts how about what you ( and 300,000 other Demon fans ) and I at Optus Stadium on 25/09/21 were thinking at the 19 minute mark of the 3rd quarter? Certainly not a dynasty or how we got out of that little hole with a bang bang bang twice split by the Brayshaw heroics. And that’s why I will never rule out our Club while we have champions like Trac, Clarry JV and Gawny plus a guy that kicked 6 goals in a GF. Oh and a stellar defense for the ages with 2 other champs!! Just remember Round 23 vs Cats 2021 44 pts down and vs Brisbane Round 18 or last season 27 pts down in final quarter 7/8 mins in. Both those efforts are not flukes as were against Top4 teams who have been around for 5 years or more! There is half a dozen or more new Demons waiting their chance to join our other 15 heroes to make another chapter in our history. How really do we know how well they will gel in this mix in 2023. Might just be as surprising as much as many are already predicting disappointing. That’s the great thing about sport no guarantees as those 2 examples of Demon heroism and magic in 2021 and 2023. -
Dees Could Become ‘One of the Worst One-Hit Wonders’

That does not matter Premierships are not won with asterisks or SP comments. Ask our 1948 heroes and any Bombers fan still alive! Does anyone count the Hawks 2008 to be associated with the 2013,4,5 dynasty flags? Should be really as they were other than 2009 I think in the Finals ( Correct me if I am wrong please? ) -
Your post na me is absolutely in song with your Petracca comments. Last season Trac was moved forward for one reason and one reason only. To try and solve our goal kicking problems. NOT because he needed a rest from the midfield. Boy talk about not spoiling a good story with the truth!!! If any Club has Trac Clarry JackV and Gawny the loss of one ( as per Clarry last season ) is crucial but it was handled with relative calm and good response overall. Sparrow seemed to go up a notch and the others ( admittedly Gus Brayshaw helped) were not completely beaten up by any means. ANB Riv Kossie and Salem bring skills and Laurie and Woe can step up with cameos as required. Our game plan and forward connectivity is the most important fact plus a fat list to chose from all our forwards. Perhaps some look at it half full and others persist in half empty.I am always had full and believe our list is still good albeit in transition if we are serious.
-
It wasn’t just the forward line in 22 that had injuries while playing it was spread over about a dozen players. Some development and improvement will be vital from some players and new recruits a success in their roles in our system. Plus few injuries for good luck.

I think this assessment is not really getting the role in all this by the AFL and Gus. Gus has been having treatment since the QF collision. He has been undergoing numerous tests ( go to our website for all the info) which have involved our Clubs medicos and a band of neurological experts plus the AFL. His recovery has been going well but recently he received a test result from one of the experts that has shown his brain has altered slightly from the time it occurred. After this he has realised to continue playing would be risking his future and on the basis he has after consultation with family his wife Danielle MFC and the experts and AFL who are now monitoring all concussion cases. That gave a Cttee set up to assess each case. Patty McCartin last year was retired by this Cttee who advise the AFL who then don’t give to r player a permit to play to protect their health and safety. It appears that Angus has beaten the AFL “advice” by making his decision once he learned of the deterioration even very minute in his brain. That’s Angus organized and how this represents his values and on what it means to him and the people on his life. Patty Mac was told he had to retire very officially and I think it takes a lot away from the value in your exit from the game and the people and club and love. Melb have indicated they will look at offering some way to be involved still in footy at the Club if Angus wishes to take that up. All the best to Angus and Danielle in the future and thanks for all the great footy memories you have left us with your courage bravery and infectious manner you played and enjoyed yourself. Special memories I have of me sitting in Optus Stadium at theGF on Angus’s wing whichI was lucky enough to see up close his brilliant and brave third quarter to help change the game. Amazing goal and celebration that I will never ever forget. Thanks Angus 10 ❤️💙🏆

Coming from a poster that wants to turn over the list at the drop of a hat and not keep any one for more than 2 years if they are not embedded in the 23 or are injured that is a bit of a stab of yourself in the foot job. We would only have about 25 players left in your posts of recent ( after 2021) not up to it who should have been moved on! Even you couldn’t have predicted our mass of injuries among our forwards last year and an attempt to strengthen our run and carry and forward crafts has been specifically addressed by the trade of McAdam Billing’s ruck help Fullarton( injured ) and drafting Brown who looks versatile plus Windsor and Kolt for run carry and forward craft. As to the ten midfielders we didn’t fare too bad last year when Clarry missed. Sparrow is a tease and it is high time he lifted his consistency. But Kossie Riv Salem ANB at times and Laurie plus our wingers are all capable of role playing in short bursts supporting the stars who keep on giving. It’s not our mids who are the problem getting the ball it’s more their use of it along with whoever we have down forward to convert accurately. Tell us what we should go for to replace Angus in the mid season draft? Mid, forward, ruck help/ forward or defender??
