I don’t think we need a half back but sorely need a young pacy and strong mid to add in 2024 and for future years.

How Chris Scott differs from other AFL coaches
Ridiculous comment Von. who cares where you finish if you don’t win the flag? Just think about your comment. 2nd or 10th or 18th??? Of course fans care probably 80/90%. Enough said you are either just saying it or I really can’t understand your logic.

How Chris Scott differs from other AFL coaches
Larger than Newcastle or Gold Coast? Very interesting views from all on this topic.! in any comparison Goody is not in the same class as Chris Scott. Scott has the AFL winning % over all Clubs 2011 to 2024 at the high 60’s. Finals are a different judgement and 50% plus is a great achievement. One of the similarities of both coaches is they have a very stubborn streak. Geelong’s game plan while successful home and away stalled over finals for a decade as they played a stop start defensive style. Amazingly Scott changed style in early 20’s and younger tyros replaced 30plus recruits and the need for speed was the mantra. Bingo all systems go and a flag after a decade of disappointment. Goody on the other hand was given a soft start under Paul Roos in 2016 as an assistant operating on match day. Improvement continued based on Roos defensive mantra. But he started to develop other strings to our now and importantly Clarry joined Trac and Maxy was recognised as one of the leading ruckman in the business. A pivotal win over Hawthorn near the end of 2016 prompted Brisbane champ Jonathon Brown to predict that we had a potential premiership midfield. Five seasons later in 2021 his remarks proved prophetic and under Goody we saluted after 57 years. We handled the Covid epidemic best of all and the group and hub conditions were positively embraced and it was harder to win this flag due to the pandemic and unpredictability of the draw transport and all the other conditions that prevailed. Interestingly the powerful but declining force in the WC Eagles failed to adjust and have had four years of a remarkable bottom ladder positions and a culture of losing injuries and seemingly no haste in trading or drafting out of its demise. Coach Adam Simpson was incredibly afforded No limit on the time for a serious reload. He fell on his own sword after the Dees thrashed the Eagles by 55 points after a listless display mid season. No coach replacement has been appointed to date with about two thirds of original applicants declaring their lack of intent for the job, which now has only 3 genuine contenders apparently. Back to Goody and an unlucky 9th in 2017, exciting return to Finals in 2018 with a very aggressive running plan, perishing in Perth by West Coast at prelim stage, Onto 2019 with an astounding run of surgeries pre season and injuries saw us slip to 17th with only 5 wins followed by a Covid affected shortened 2020 with hubs in Qld coinciding with our 9-8 win formula. Our defence showed great promise near the end if the season after elite recruiting of Lever and May along with previously the winger from the west Ed Langdon and recycled tall forward BBB from the Kangas. We all know 2021 to 2024. Goody has downbedded our style to contest and defence which served well in the earlier times but the clock of forwards and a reliable system has harmed our chances of further success in the past 3 seasons. Injuries have not helped either. 2025 is a crucial season for our Club to regain our football excitement and our enjoyment for the contest. It will determine Goody’s future as our Coach. The recent Club matters of culture and Board instability are not assisting our infield chances of success however our integrated training and administration base may well be finally nearer to happening by this decade or a couple of years earlier is the biggest event this decade that will boost our Club to a united and strong Club standing with all other Clibs who have enjoyed their bases in the modern era this century.

I have thought about Pert’s comment and I believe he could well have probably meant this that Melbourne’s culture was the best at our Club for 40 years. Only issue is that he may have also just said “best culture he has seen in 40 years”. He has made no attempt to clarify his remark though at all. Just a chance he fluffed his line.

What’s this decision got anything to do with what may or may not happen in 12 months time? It won’t affect that matter at all.

Training Ground?
You can’t produce a feasibility study until a location is decided. That’s recent say 18 months to a year. Again are you aware that the logistics that there are a number of stakeholders and we don’t chair or control the progress of this whole project. Can’t you understand this?? The time and the posts plus the sweat and worry over the last 5 years as many D/Lers have bleated their displeasure impatience plus anger in the process time have all been a complete waste of misguided energy at not realising the state of the project due to the large number of stakeholders. Thats partly ignorance and just plain niavity. It will raise its ugly head no doubt over the next 9 mths. Please don’t rock the boat until April /May or better June. Take a rest all you over zealous naysayers.

Training Ground?
You do know the real location has not been the chosen one until very recently. Probably a newcomer like you to this longed for base for our Club. Rome was not built in a day and developments like this are an example. Please check how long the Hawks hav had Dingley as their location. You may learn something on builds like theirs and ours.

And where are these murmurs coming from ? Informed stakeholders ? Biased D/Lers with gripes as I outlined. Govr people in the know ? Not someone from ???! Scuttlebut ?? Stirrers dissatisfied with the process like you? What expert tile do these people have and if it’s a one off what’s wrong. Please enlighten me . And as stability in this project is vital it’s undoubtedly an advantage to keep informed and appropriate personnel involved. Unless you have changed your post name recently I don’t recall you on this forum until fairly recently so I have reservations about you post and opinions which are mostly negative and trifling at best. Of course it might not go ahead at Caulfield but seems after such a location search of 5 years we should be urging this vital project to go ahead unless any major reasons are mounted against its existence. That has not been done IMO with mostly cheap shots trying to undermine the next stage and existing proof of our Club with positivity and feasibility established after many months of hard work.

And what are the chief holes in it Adam that you can see? BTW a hole or part of the feasibility has passed in my assumption all the stakeholders as of now. My take on that is that most of any small holes or potential are still able to tweaked. This is not a final document and many people in D/L from my observations over the last 5 years are mostly turning this into another opportunity to have a throw of a dart because they eitherdon’t agree on some details or are upset that they have been caught on the run with their time predictions that were blowing out this project date or forgot never to be completed in their lifetime. And based on the statement both Perty and Kate have done us proud, despite some posting of some doubt by some malcontents. Clearly no other party in the Board has the running knowledge to take up this now and a compromise option is for another stage to be completed while the best chance of all is available for success. If anyone wants to challenge this so be it but it appears to be the best option and is fact.

Well summed up FF D. Cant help feeling that there is some sentiment from his close family that are still blaming the Club for most of the unusual event's which were outside our Control. People like Caroline Wilson are still trying to milk th last drop out of this saga. The AFLPA seems to be quiet as they no doubt will dig deep to embarrass the AFL or us. grest to see Trac who spoke well and outwardly seems to be moving on. Of course he wouldn’t be human if he still had thoughts and even mare or two after such a horrendous chain of events. Enjoy your Camp CP5 and get as fit as you can to lead our assault next season for our 14 th Flag.

What about the JJ Listin Trophy Winner Brew he would be no 1 maybe at one if the pick 30,40 or 50 stage. Good midfielder.

Training Ground?
I must have missed something. Yes some have not been positive ( for reasons that they have been surprised that this is moving at (long) last. Prey tell what’s the major reason that this project may not go ahead? Permits? Finance? Board ineptitude? In my mind many are sceptical and negative as they all don’t understand the depth of research and liability to all stakeholders to be cleared. so they just get general and throw darts about the place with no strength or science to further the their own scepticism and opinions of the recent past ( 5-10 years)delays due to location mainly. If we are to be judged on our reaction this week from Demonlanders to this most positive procedure indicating a YES and ongoing further advice on the next stage it would be lukewarm at best. All the naysayers and nitpickers are refusing to embrace this stage as a resounding plus on its journey Amazing after 190 pages of bluff and bluster plus the anger and discontent with the details and process and its delay and accusations and vehemence of sackings and resignations etc. In my opinion if this is an example of Club culture then we have failed miserably. In fact this wonderful forum has along with some other purposes now regressed into a whining winging and at large a very negative base for about 75% to bleat about the Club. The glass is about quarter full. If we keep persisting with this attitude there will be nothing left of the 3/4/5 years recently of success. Grown ups know that life is not all roses and that it produces thorns to be overcome. Part of that is HOW WE DO IT! And it has already started to turn around, yes we don’t know how Clarry will return and play Trac has his fitness and pre season to solve plus major decisions in trading drafting and coaching allocations are still to be made. But we have only really lost ANB a hard replacement just like Gus. Who will step up and take care of our house keeping and team ethos and spirit? Leadership from the 5/6 should be more apparent not just Max and JV plus Rick and Maysie. I don’t think we are going to go lower but we need a reset of our game plan and attitude of enjoying playing and bonding together for the team just like in 2021. There was no real reason at the end of 2020 why we would win the Flag in 2021. Yes our defence started to produce good performances but the bonfire night helped remarkably to anoint a new playing culture and the result. AFL is so even at the moment that our 4 close losses by 10 points in total would have seen us on 15 - 8. Four more goals. Let’s be honest if we ever get our forward line up and going kicking goals we are shoe in for Top4. So it’s our/your choice Let’s restart in pre season and embrace positively our Club for this investment will payoff in spades during the season. And it starts with not throwing the dummy out of the cot and staying firm with MEMBERSHIP and ATTENDANCE at absolutely as many game as possible Not penalising the Club over something a 3 yo would cry about for 2 mins. And move on!!! The choice is ours/yours let’s throw the angry pills away and Go Dees in 2025.

Goodwin is the MAN!
Really this is la la land rubbish. si extent judge our Coach by the thoughts and judgement of our opposition supporters. Good luck with that logic it’s got about the same credibility as words out of a certain person who lead the USA and now wants the world to have a second dose of his Bul…t.

Completely ill informed comment. Won’t have a thing to do with the running of the MRC. No wonder your posting name is the same as one of our most disappointing players who didn’t succeed when we gave him licence to play with the Saints. A wasted career unfortunately with both Clubs.

Congrats OD You are the first Demonlander to record your 100th NEGATIVE comment. Record pace and why stop now Your 2030 prediction is so you. Just remember both you and I might not be here if 2030 is the opening date. I am far more positive than you and in time for 2028 or middle/ late 2027 might be a total completion date. Makes the Bombers 20 year Finals drought look like a Century or at least like our Flag drought of 57 years.

BTW when are you “guessing “ what ladder position the Dees will finish in 2025 - 2030. Oh and what will you have for breakfast in 2027. I am guessing it’s all too much for you and you will have brain overload and give up. Good luck !
