Coaching Role for Jonesy?
Absolutely Ollie. i still think in Mick’s first 3/4 years he struggled on game day with little imagination and flair. And as many in the game flair and possibly imagination would not be in the vocabulary about Mick. However he realized that he had to expand his horizons and gradually became more aggressive and when the Dees rebuilt with young recruits on the run about Season 5 we saw the Dees become far better in big games and comfortably made the Finals each year since including our magnificent initial Flag in a titanic tussle over Brisbane at their newly constructed home ground. Low scores but a slug fest we won in a low score. But by now Mick was switching players in positions and had a much more versatile list to coach. Fast forward to today and we looked down and out after Essendon on GF Eve gave us our biggest and most embarrassing experience in the 8 and a bit seasons AFLW. Our fourth loss and 3 by more than 40 pts. However the dozen injuries and loss of form from that day have stopped ans Mick has on his admission simplified our game from one match to another and bingo 3 thrilling wins all different the undoubted highlight last Wednesday nights heist of the almost unbeaten Crows at their fortress Unley Oval. After yesterday we are now only % out of the Top 8 with Finals a realistic possibility if we win our last 3 h and a games with challenging games vs Tigers and Hawks and the undoubted worst team in the fixture the Pies due to injuries and a static game plan. Mick’s greatest coaching philosophy is to get his players happy engaged and contented in playing footy for his team and that’s the reason now with his match hardened and clever brain he has managed in his none seasons win most games until just recently. With his skills and confidence he could now be an assistant coach for a year or two and enter a succession plan or just be ready to take over any time soon. Mick has the method and air of a winner and the unity of groups of young women point to a potentially successful stint when and if he switched to the men’s league at the Dees.

Welcome to Demonland: Pick 9
Wrong what a stupid naive comment. This afl.com.au journalist is all class honesty and knowledge. if I was him I would consider su…g you!!! Look at his work and contributions in tandem with Riley Beveridge for an answer on his sincerity and poise with our future footballers and players agents. Extremely poor judgement of humanity.

AFLW: 2024 Fixture
The girls are being paid far more in 2024 than before. They are the ones who want their product to become more professional. Sometimes you cannot have it both ways. We already know that the AFL are stretching the limits in some ways and trying to not get to a full fixture too quickly.

Wade Derksen
How good do you know he might be in2/3 years ?

Welcome to Demonland: Pick 9
Why worry about about next year we will get picks in top 10 in the trade deals to get mids if we need them. Let’s get the best of this bountiful draft now that we have 2 top 10 picks for our choice. ie one mid and one tall Tauru or Armstrong. Or two mids.

AFLW: Rd 07 (Game 2) vs St Kilda
She has nothing to do with it. Nicole no longer around resigned about 4/5 mths ago.

Welcome to Demonland: Pick 9
Why ? Let’s get the first two picks right far more important. Than a pick 30 now.

Welcome to Demonland: Pick 9
NO Armstrong or Tauru
-
Welcome to Demonland: Pick 9
No Tauru is a better prospect not quite as good now but has prospect of a more C factor KP forward.

Welcome to Demonland: Tom Campbell
You haven’t read or if so misunderstood his CV. He has been 2nd ruck for about 10 years genuinely.
-
Welcome to Demonland: Tom Campbell
Not just last year but in 2023 !!

Welcome to Demonland: Tom Campbell
31 years or no 31? (Harris Andrew’s is no 31 for Lions) btw.

Welcome to Demonland: Tom Campbell
That won’t change I don’t think he will only play if we think a back up is necessary against a certain Club possibly say Freo or Saints. I disagree about JVR as I believe he will IMO still be our forward/ruck relief for about 80% of game time and kick 40/45 per season as he develops still. I think he will still mature quicker having this back up role and playing kick behind play also at times. The other forwards Disco Harry Jeffo Fritta and the smalls can move around to cause some confusion for the opposition.

Welcome to Demonland: Tom Campbell
Agree why don’t we use BBB or looking at Tom in our pressers at times? They sound so logical and smart it would possibly intimidate the Maclures and Barrett’s of the world for a while.?

Young players training in the USA
How do we know the two new recent members views on all things Melbourne? I imagine like most of us that the proposed new Caulfield base can be implemented as along with the stage/s outlined recently by the CEO that are to be approved. That’s because they haven’t had to declare anything when you are co-opted to the Board. Just like Councilors Pollies at times and Cttee/Board members being co-opted should not happen as an automatic decision without a “bye election”.

Thanks OD yes I understand but it is sarcasm and some of it does not amuse me when it reflects IMO unfairly or negatively on the Club. Good on those boys and Jake also. Not doing his claims for next Captain any harm at all.

Young players training in the USA
Well smart a..e it is a bit further than Casey or Goschs and costs a bit more also. PS Have you ever seen the setup inside at Casey Fields? Or just marvelled at the extraordinary grass surface on the oval? Never forget that’s where our AFL VFL and AFLW premiership heroes trained for their flags. Used as the main ground.

Another negative comment. Don’t you believe our President?

The Draft Pick Upgrade Thread
You seem to obsessed with history of JT in a not so bountiful draft. The difference here is that there are about 6/7 standout mids worthy of top 5/6/7 category. I believe if we can get another top10 by trading then we should not up grade and get not only a top mid but either Tauru or Armstrong asa KPF although I believe that Jefferson plus the trio of JVR Harry and Disco will develop their games to another level in 2025 due to fitness and better forward coaching. Plus with both Disco Harry and Kentfield ( if he improves) could always be used in defence if needed permanently or as cameo roles during games as required. Of course our choices would be even better if we can get Derkson over the line from GWS. Naturally Kossie Fritta Chandler Pup Brown The Kolt and Harry Sharp will be needed to play as goalkickers around these taller targets. surely this is an opportunity to get our scoring and aggression in our game plan to match our defensive talent and also to allow for an improved midfield as well.

Time to go Gary Pert
Clarry will not be a problem if he can get fit and his famous determination will always be a feature of his play. That is also up to the club to have him cherry ripe to return to his best on ball football. Once the footy starts Clarry will have plenty to do and all or most of the claptrap subsides he can and will concentrate accordingly. If only these boring and smart a..e journalists looked at Essendon and Pies issues as critically as ours they would not have to keep inventing statements every third day to keep these alleged bushfires burning.

Delistings 2024
It’s AMW please. Beaver sorry Deever!!!

Tim Lamb
You and OD should meet and see who is the most negative. Get a glass out and see if you can get anywhere near quarter full.
-
Welcome to Demonland: Harry Sharp
Windsor will never play half back. Will go straight into the centre to direct our connectivity to our forward line. Sharp Bowey could play wing even Pup Brown possibly though I think he could end up as an on baller or half forward.

2024 Trade Radio
Why do some people sound so good and sensible when they speak. That’s BBB fo you. Others can say the same thing and why do we not believe them? Not saying all will happen easily but we are not 14 th on the ladder for talent. Many things in 2025 could occur with just tweaks and luck plus no injuries to key personnel. Any if the teams from third to 15 th could win across next year. However it will be harder next year as Lions will improve now they know how to and BELIEVE.
