For G and c sake please stop the bashing of Fritta. All Clubs have players with differing skills and tackling is not Bails top skill. But he has 15 other skills that enable him to kick match winning goals like vs the Cats that only Kossie ang Trac exhibit. Also how many of our present players could kick 4,5, or 6 in a Grainy? Just realise that Bailey has won far more games for Melb than lost so just stop the [censored] and back him in. He can go next level as Kossie if both put in a concerted effort to improve but it’s got to be a Club or personal desire to go from 40 to 60 goals or 35 to 50 each season. Let’s hope both can do it.
  3. I don’t really mind who we target but they must bring in new ideas get a different game plan going and refresh our group of champs role players and promising youngsters plus 5/6 new trades and draftees. Please don’t apply if you don’t want to fight for the above. You will be a Tim Watson / Mal Blight / ex coach recently before Rossy with the Saints if you are old school and defensive. New Breed need only apply on Social Media please!!

Sorry Meggs but we only scored ONE goal and it was before quarter time! This recent disaster of a level of players and injuries has shown how quickly under the current AFLW trade rules a team can be decimated in a last H and.A game plus 2 Finals plus say 3/4 more H and A nearly twelve months later. Ftom having. Champion team this time last season we are now at the bottom with all credibility spirit I imagine and 8 great seasons of cereal strength have withered in record time. Its nothing like the rebuild on the run from 3/4 years ago as it was say only 3/5 players and not absolute stars. One thing that has mitigated against us is that the recruiting of players now is for taller bigger and just as mobile but physically stronger recruits. Hawthorn are a great example. I suspect Essendon Sydney Richmond Geelong WC and even the Saints have followed this trend. I believe we “pinched” a flag with a smallish no of talls but a heap of medium height good running and skilful players and were the most competitive onballers and flankers in the Competition. But no longer is that the prototype Flag team as the evolution has started with girls with height and real skills who are too good for medium role players. Also we have not attracted any seemingly tattling player/s yet with our recent recruiting. Needless to say our talls are injured but are not you anyway so our rebuild has been hastened. It will take some trading and recruiting to solve our problem asap. I am not sure that Mick after 9 stellar and amazing seasons is the bloke to lead this renaissance and a new breed is required from 2026 on. ( Possibly the same is needed for the AFL also but that is a slightly different story but similar in some ways). Interested in the D/Lers that go or are rusted on with my take. BTW the same has happened to the Pies after 3/4 seasons of making Finals but not really joining the Top 3 of Brisbane Adelaide and us with North now the best Vic team but the challengers are coming thick and fast. Even yesterday watching North vs Tigers in the wet in Tassie I couldn’t help but feel that other than experience and the rain the Tigers are a different build and won’t be long before this takes effect. North’s champs are also good but not physical brutes but always so competitive even with their silly skills. But time is ticking with the tier 2 mids who are facing physical and skill challenges each week. Heaven help GWS and others if we/ they don’t recruit the new prototypes for the future. I know this all sounds very simplistic but I believe it’s a need for a cultural and game style change along with new recruits to renew our team back to the top. Either to beat them we need to join them and asap.

Not Logan Mac needs a bigger unit No 1 forward ahead of him so he gets a No 2 or 3 defender.
  6. With Stafford gone and Mini also it’s great that 2 new assistants are needed. Hope we get some be breed who are more adventitious and can take on Goody who isn’t as safe as he was with Kate as Pres. Need aggression like Lions and players can play that way if given a licence viz 2018.

Agree saw in an earlier post that a poster was circling Logan McDonald who I thought was a real chance for a big KP forward. But seems as though those 3 at their age and experience need another big unit to take No 1 defenders. Am hopeful JVR and Turner Petty and Jeffo that 2 0f those at least become real units with 50 plus goals each year. Then with a third tall plus Fritta and Kossie and another 30 plus goalkicker say AMW who I think might Be better as a forward from our list than a half back. Let’s see.
  8. Some D landers over think things at times. I don’t think and never will that our 2021 team was fragile far from it. We lost only 4 games that year and won the flag in Finals with almost record margins. Also some fans are always looking at the half glass empty way of life. Credit where it’s due in 2021 but greater reasons for our failures in 2022/23 than being at the MCG have been mulled over adinfinitem Lrys move on and rejoice after 3 years and give cheap reasons for other Clubs to sneer at our success. . We won in a most challenging year when we adapted superbly to the tasks and situation at hand. West Coast and others sooked it up and ended ruining their own dynasty and have not recovered yet. And tha AFL other Clubs just love it.
  9. Our philosophy has to change to a more attacking style of play. We need to recruit outside running types plus forwards who are great at finishing. Inside bulls we have enough of. To not update our to a different style of player to balance our list is mot going to solve it our problems and prevent us to progress to a more attacking and skill based game plan.
  10. In case you haven’t realised Caleb The Duke Windsor has already replaced Lachie. Although I would like Caleb to be played in the centre this year. He will straighten us up and be in the thick of centre bounces. Caleb has the potential to be another Chad Warner and I believe if in the middle he will add his running and scoring potential more through the middle. This would be another new dimension to our defence and attack connectivity. We can still recruit or choose another winger in the draft.
  11. Who is speedy?
  12. Thank you Jaded. You have corrected fr_p and another poster. IT WAS NOT SHORTENED QRTERS. That was in 2020.Also I haven't heard anyone call Richmond's 2020 flag called a Covid flag. As for fr_p again I call you out. Yes for about 4/5 games in July our form dipped and we lost as you said to Dogs GWS and drew with Hawks at the G. I don't think you can query the Adelaide game we won by 41 pts in the final quarter after a 3 quarter tussle when Fritta had a purple patch. BUT our form in the last 4 H and A games was great like our Finals when it mattered. Gold Coast T Marvel 90 odd pts WIN at Marvel Cats that last quarter comeback from 44 pts down at The Cattery WIN West Coast WIN by 12 pts at Optus after being 30/40 pts up before the lightning strike! WIN And Adelaide as above. And 30 plus pts in Qual Final at Adelaide Oval vs Lions leafing all day. WIN Prelim Final at Optus vs Cats a thrashing 80 pts with Maxy kicking 5 goals the hero. WIN Spoiler Alert. if you believe Chris Scott said Cats had Covid / Virus which killed their chances. And the Granny. 74 pts vs Dogs our 13 th flag !!!! WIN IMO nothing too fragile about those last 7 games when all said and done. You may look at things being half empty but it’s the end results that count. We were the best side in 2021 and I believe no matter where we played the Finals we would have prevailed. I was in Perth for the GF and yes the second term and the third quarter for 15 mins was a tussle but once we hit our straps no way were the Dogs going to challenge us that day. 16 of the last 17 on that day. Unbelievable and not been seen in a GF or other game for years if ever. It was a great effort to win our Flag away in strange and unusual circumstances and our team adapted and was razor sharp at the end part of the 2021 season. Results do not lie. There are no asterisks to any AFL/VFL flags as all are earnt over a season, not just 2/3 finals games in the end.
  13. Way to go with ANB and Hore. Tommo not fazed either way.

That’s what I did 2 Covid isolation weeks in SA Lucky I had 4 cousins each in differing parts of Adelaide two of them and others in Port Elliot and Normanton south of McLarenVale. Also saw on the Island. Kangaroos Island for 2 days, lovely diversion. Got Granny tickets whilst travelling on the bus on the Island. Wonderful fortnight and off to Perth on the Friday night Eve before the game. Was staying with friend in Perth who was working on Perth buses and he dropped me at a Depot where the bus started. Great seats on the wing just under cover in Melb section beautiful day even saw Rooyey kick winning goal for WA vs SA in their Championship game. All good till 2nd quarter and 19 pts lead in third as we kicked 5.9 by half time and Dogs put on two in the third. Was worried then Harmesy passing and Fritta twice goaling got us going then BBB plus the great winger Angus goals to put us in front. Then in the last two minutes bang bang bang from Trac Sparrow and Clarry and a 24 pt lead at 3/4 time. Reckon BBB’s goal after a great kick from Tommy Sparrow was the sealer early in the last. We piled on goals to Lingers Fritta (2) a day out with 6 !! Plus singles to ANB Jacko Salo and Tmac 2 one after the siren with only one reply of a goal from the Dogs was sheer bliss for a 74 point win. Nirvana!!! Then the presentations plus catching up with a friends son for drinks and a taxi ride after to My hosts place and an overdue coffee and congratulatory calls from Brisbane friends that night and Dees friends in the morning. More Nirvana!!! Home on the Wed after a trip to the South East near Albany at my friends friends place for 2 days after dropping into Perth Forrest Place for the Sunday Melbourne supporters function at 11 am. Another Nirvana!!. PS had the wonderful watch of the 81 pt thrashing of the “Covid Cats” in the Prelim at my cousins also. Nirvana!! Extraordinary 20 days in Paradise and numerous stages of Nirvana throughout!!
  16. I also know what you are referring to but it’s a decade ago. Give it a go move on. Houston changed his mind and Bassett did also. Actually so did one of the Jarmans !! Was 25/30 years ago. Have you forgiven him ?
  17. That info says he hardly cleared off from Port. They called time on him it seems. And it was after 8 years as well. That’s hardly leaving a by Club in the church. Wouldn’t want to be employed by you Bluey all you have done is blemish Nathan for long service and loyalty. I would think Goody would be all over SA assistants and be very aware of their credentials. Thank goodness.

All I will say about MFCSS is attic we keep being negative and whinging and thinking the world is against us we will not help our team or Club. I am finding it very hard to understand the lack lustre reaction to our Feasibility Phase approval after so many posters over the last few years pilloried the delays and other details of our base not happening. Most have countered with doubt, been caught off guard no doubt, and straight out came up with virtually any reason ( most minor and some naive ) that this project won’t go ahead or is likely in the next decade but not now. Yes there have been some disappointing events both on and off the field since 2021 but as in life things do not always run linear or smooth. Its how you handle the blocks in the road that defines you and to be frank we need to show our mettle after 3 years of under achieving. That’s why I am certain that our window is still open as stated earlier in this post. Go Dees in 2025.

You have obviously conceded the Hawks with a three peat ending in 21015 were a cut above like the Tigers. Or you have just used a decade to back up your point. I like you don’t believe our time has closed. I posted on another topic that if we have a good injury run, Trac and Clarry can be at their best plus good trading and drafting of say 2, one a high quality outside mid and the other a fast outside finishing style (mid/ flanker/ forward ) Owies doesn’t quite fit the bill ) so a draftee could be the go. At least another KPF or D is of need and Denison is a good start. Obviously our young under 22’s to improve is necessary and I believe with a serious effort Kossie Fritta Bowey Sparrow could all go up a level. Naturally a more aggressive game plan is necessary plus the mantra of winning games not just saving games to win has got to be changed. One idea after watching Sydney and their 3 stars is that Windsor and Kossie both could be wonderful centre players Both at stoppages and in games. I think the Duke is a centre player waiting to happen and a tank would not be a problem as he runs all day at high speed and his disposal is one of our best even at his age. Their ability to link up with our forwards ( and score themselves ) seems a no brainer to assist our team. 2025 could be like 2021 if we handle the season with the same attitude.
  20. Don’t get too excited. I believe he has been regarded as a very good defensive coach.

Thanks George That’s why I asked because I am aware of the seating home games situation. While I Understand you need security to move stubborn people why aren’t the ground staff in each section onto this reserved seat rules? That’s who should be consulted first if people don’t move when asked. It’s their job to get security of needed if they reuse still. In Brisbane I am a Gabba Trust member and if anything is wrong with others in your seats ( you write your name and put the seat on this paper/ tag which you place in a slot between your seat. Very similar to MCC seating the last time I used reciprocal rights if a big game occurs. In Brisbane most security staff are located inside the boundary near the fence. Not much of them seem on Level4 in the Trust. But we are not a confrontational group like Pies or Blues fans!!!
  22. 58er replied to Sir Why You Little's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
Are you saying about our home game vs Pies or the KB game? Because it’s vastly different circumstances As you probably know.
  23. 58er replied to Flag Favourites 3019's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
Getting Boyd is like a new Jacko as he is younger and also has forward skills etc. Not sure I would be bypassing him for now and the future and he might be a complete bonus in our team also.
  24. Yet the TV commentators all only on Sunday carry on about Cwood who have had 3 home games and an easier draw.
  25. 58er replied to SthSea22's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
That’s the point I asked you? Do you know any thing about Wade? You ignored the question! You just goofed of with an ill informed comment with no knowledge. No he hasn’t played an AFL game yet in 2 and a half years so he a dozen matches ahead of Matty Jefferson in time. Reading the reports on his VFL games, and his roles of forward back and ruck he also has are similar to JVR who is in his third year this year and has played in junior state and now AFL/VFL in those 3 positions. He played one season of VFL Jeffo now 2, so we can get a gauge from both their progress with a little bit of goal scoring also he sounds like a good very early 20 plus at 190cm odd recruit. He is NOT bottom of the barrel ! Perhaps our mid year recruiting of Luker Kentfield is far more project orientated and could possibly apply to your remark. And he won’t come with a huge price tag perhaps an early third rounder. So let’s see he has asked for a trade to us and who is more accurate in his ability and suitability for our list and team.
