The Draft Pick Upgrade Thread
OD you are not listening. You can’t produce a forward line in 5 minutes! 2024 was an exploratory year and not the finished product by a long shot. You say you are not impressed yes 2024 was not great but another year on could be completely different and others with vision believe there is a good possibility that all being young and Harry not fit properly plus Jeffo Kossie Fritta Chandler maybe McAdam gets properly fit that it will be a big improvement next season. Too many Dees fans inc. D/Lers have no patience or vision. Each season is different and pre seasons etc. man e difference. You always have a glass empty I prefer to look at a half glass full and believe that that may be the outcome. U have a felling that 2024 will turn out to be like 2020 most Dees fans thought it was a waste. We put our bricks on our defence that year. I believe we will have our mids and forwards much more organised and the game plan with 2 new Assistants will be a positive. That’s why I expect us to bounce back wit much improved unity culture team spirit and game plans plus more advanced mids and forwards with their true ability to shine at this stage in their careers.

Oliver Trade Rumours
Completely agree Starti . Macca as in all things it takes 2 to tango. Heard of that? It’s not completely their fault and if both parties had agreed to full and frank discussions at least with empathy from the Club how both were coming from it might have circumvented much of the outside media picnic. The media needs to know that its decisions have been made ( and Trac and Clarry’s also ) hold ONE presser with Greeny Simon and Max plus the two and end the matter with questions to finalise the whole thing and any other matters of concern. End of story the Club or players will not be available to discuss these matters they are finished and we are not available to anyone who wishes to keep pushing their barrow for cheap and over exaggerated wishes to put the Club down. BTW what if any role did the leadership group play in this ? Surely some of this could be handled by them. I don’t like it that we refuse to really nominate a specific group of players and only Gawny and Jack are put forward. Time to change this fiasco and make it serious and in public. Wouldn’t hurt to have both at some stage be on the leadership group to see how 40 plus players need allies like them at some stage. Enough said Macca put your pen down please!!!

2024 Player Reviews: #21 Matthew Jefferson
Agree SS I am wondering if MJ could part play on a flank with his skill and speed? As a roaming forward who could slip into a forward pocket providing a challenge for opponents probably a third or fourth defender. Fritta might get the third although I imagine a taller defender might still take on Matty. This is only to see if he can play a slightly different not KFP and attract a smaller or lighter backman. Of course I can’t wait to see how much more he has built up and he may be perfectly able to start using his IMO very able forward’s skills to win the ball. I hope he can play AFL this year because I believe JVR Disco and Harry will be an entirely different proposition at some stages in 2025. Good luck Jeffo like JVR you have done your apprenticeship and now to show the world on the big stage.

AFLW: Rd 07 vs Adelaide
Well this style is based on about 3 years ago before we won our flag. With not excessive handball thank goodness. Changed after the Essendon flogging. Very courageous and skilful to do that and it suits our smaller running on style.

AFLW: Rd 07 vs Adelaide
Better than being 50 points behind at half time . What do you want? Don’t know if the surface is dewy. Commenting hasn’t said about any dew.

2025 Team Round 1
You are right in absolute footy sense but I disagree because having JVR rucking gives us an X factor to enable Maxy to rest or go forward or move our other talls and Fritta around the forward line. Add Kossie and hopefully a Derksen or Pick 5 mid would be a good start also. My biggest ? Is we need more goals and McAdam may surprise with a fitness level for AFL why not try Bowey at HF and Chandler despite his tackling and competitiveness is goal shy. I hope we place The Duke in the centre to direct yes direct our forward connectivity. He is the best in the team and given a strong preseason deserves the opportunity to refocus our team from there. Talk about Daicos and Ashcroft we have a similar jet let’s use him more. Spargo returning might be a surprise but again we need a high half forward to replace Nibbler. Will Kolt be the man? Our forward line should be better with Turner and Petty having greatly more influence on our play and goal kicking. 100 + goals between JVR Turner and Petty would be a great start to build on. Not entirely impossible only doubling what happened this year!!! And remember we may still pick up an Owies or I would like Daniel’s and play him forward. He uses the ball so well goal would result. Plenty of upside with Jeffo Taj and Campbell in the wings.

2025 Team Round 1
Once again your extraordinary choice of opinion is like your D/L name just like the half forward it represents no substance all fluff and can’t kick right foot and always injured. Oh and played about 5 decent games not even decent role playing when fit. FYI is wrong for one reason. Brand PETRACCA cannot afford to be unsuccessful at footy. Everything is class and style so no implosion. If Christian can regain full health physical and mental for the AFL he will be in our top3 without a doubt in 2025. Stop trying to take the Club backwards like the press and move on or move away.

Open Letter to the MFC
Well said KD but that never gets reported!!!

Kate Hore - 5 Stars
Great to see Mick back into his groove with our run and ball movement. We need a super effort on Wed night vs Crows but let’s hope we are positive and aggressive.

Time to go Goody?
JVR says Hi Old Dee.
-
Time to go Goody?
OLD DEE and MACCA some points I agree with you. Goody and game plan needs speeding up and aggression based on Lions pace and chaos. Others such as : ” a forward who kicks 30 goals” we already have one JVR. And he rucks 20% of the time not too bad. Yes JVR 40 goals plus Disco to 30 goals and Petty 30/50 depending upon form or fitness. And Fritta can go back to 50 plus Kossie 40 plus if we change our plan plus both go a bigger level. Kolt may also improve quickly and The Duke 15/20 are all possible. All might not happen but that’s got to be a template.

Time to go Goody?
No and who competes with Maxy (JW) he was young no way. Trac ? Clarry ? That’s why Goody won a flag and The Rev didn’t but no shame on his record.

Kozzy Homesick & Wants to Leave?
Do you say anything good about our players? I believe Kozzie can go another level that’s what you do get him to fulfill his ability not get rid of him. M

Welcome to Demonland: Pick 5
While I commend your post and your knowledge I would shorten your list as prefer Lalor from 5 and Tauru if we get 13 or close ( could be 14-20 wh knows. ) Want to pick you up about Caddy and Windsor of last years draft. To be upset that we got The Duke is a bit churlish. Was a definite need for pace and skill last year and fills the bill. 250 games in the centre directing the ball forward will alter our ball movement with others with skill and pace supporting him. Not that Caddy is not a talent he looks a very good forward in the making but Caleb is a ready made classy mid with exquisite skills is tough pacy and has a footy mentality. While there are ample mids I think we should get a good kp player if available. Looks obvious you don’t think Jeffo will be a forward which I disagree. He has all the earmarks of a forward with a forwards brain and skills. He may not be a key position immediately but will end up there. Our forward line needs guys that can finish and MJ fits that bill. But credit on the draft chances available let’s hope we pick up two three draft winners and some supporting f/s or nga backups. Oh and surprise with a B+ or above trade pick.

Wade Derksen
Yes he is. Not a second round pick.

Wade Derksen
Posturing I would believe

Not completely Clarry’s fault. He could have been held back at the start of the season to gain further fitness that could well have contributed to a better season.

MFC 2024 BEST & FAIREST NIGHT
Won’t help finances at all. We need prime time and marquee games still to keep financial credibility.

The Draft Pick Upgrade Thread
What ai would say is that I don’t want 5 already we have and say the 13 on offer to get say No2 and only one player from that trade. With the draft depth a 5 and 13 is very good prospects for two high quality mids or a mid plus a high quality key position player like Armstrong or Faull depending upon other trade choices of other Clubs.

Time to go Gary Pert
Well Sam McLure has been mentioned again about July concerns but it was just a repeat of his usual statements trying to stir up trouble. As for the action of approaching other Clubs the Board and other personnel may not always agree but that doesn’t mean it’s wrong if agreed by the relevant committee/officers involved. Plus last nights statement from President Brad Green indicates that a decision on Clarry has been made and he will not be cleared. Deep down I believe he is happy with that show of support and I have no doubt that with his strong mind once training commences he will get to work. When Clarry commits it’s a 100% all in and I see no reason for that to alter now that a decision has been made. The Board cannot pre determine findings in the Reviews and the staff and other stakeholders would be well served having the same attitude. After all that’s what you have a review isn’t it?
