  1. Sorry that you must not have a Fox or listen to Gary on SEN. I will assume you have a reasonable knowledge of our game and Melb's games last year. My opinion on Oscar on Hawkins an also a spare man in defence on the last quarter at the G by Our coaching staff cost us both games vs Cats. Little things but 2,wins an we are 2nd Home Final vs Eagles !! Gary is sharp and doesn't miss things. Suggest you listen to him and you should understand. Boyh the examples above are my take and I stand by them. Hipe we can both celebrate the Dees in 2019 snd get that flag.
  2. Surely this is good news that our second string inc. Billy JKH Corey W and others on display today are in sync with our game plan and can fit in at half forward, or the pocket or even play a small portion in the midfield. The challenge surly is for one or all of them to elevate their game (and importantly their skills under pressure) to grab the no. 20,21 or 22 spots in the team. Same for our defenders where the skill level IMO is greater where Hore (not yet) Hunty KK and Lewy plus Jonesy can go through defence and potentially star or play on a wing and hold their place but not displace Hibbo or Lord Nev as medium backs. This then elevates our depth with extreme pressure on all players to get in the AFL team. Even more so now with the rucks now that Pruessy has arrived. Mark my words he is no 5 game backup but a much more skilled and rounded contributor with the real side benefits being Maxie still No 1 but able to play in defence ( as per today) or up forward where Brayden did well today. This means that depending upon team balance at any given time Weids will get the 3rd defence tall after Max and Tommy. Yes it will live and die by form but remember all are IMO good marks and not useless in general play ( refer Sam in Finals). Also our crumbers will have to play their part and Spargo (big year and rarely wastes a disposal) ANB AVB Jeffy JKH Billy Corey W hopefully Fritschy (can play small or tall) etc come into their own with 20 plus goals or more for the season. In between is the gem of them all Jake Milkshake skilled Mark and ground player on both feet tough and a great mark for his size plus I hope a developing Sparrow and don't forget Trac who makes most possessions count in heavy traffic and if he gets confidence back his goal kicking to another level ie 35 plus goals this year. The whole team is capable of going to another level by virtue of the skill and different assets of our choices at our disposal. Height Strength body and pressure will tell as well as speed and skill. Our mids providing they balance an in/out game and don't all chase the ball "IN" will take care of their territory. Also our key backs be they May Frosty Oscar (already acknowledged improvement on today's effort and still young Think Tommy's apprenticeship) Jake L will be rock solid if not spectacular at times. All glass half full I reckon no doubt hiccups will occur but try and keep this set of players quiet for a whole game and good luck to you. Lastly (and this prob won't happen) I would like to see some situation where Gary Lyon (forgive him for his coaching choices) is on tap for advice as he has by far the sharpest footy brain in the media box (think Warnie at cricket ) and this 1% would not allow Oscar to play on Hawkins for far too long at the Cattery and we win the game as Frosty or Maysie nullifies him. If we don't get a top4 spot and hopefully home finals I will be surprised and our form and availability will determine our fate in the big games in September. Oh and 40,00 fans on nonblockbuster games plus 80,000 or more in those clashes will no doubt help Make the G a fortress in for the nearly the next decade!
  3. Can't Im sorry but am in Melb fir a week. Girls can win and start to bear all rivals. GDees
  4. Figures don't lie and we just couldn't get our forward line working vs top sides with Jesse as spearhead. Loved Jesse but Sam is a great kick for goal is a natural player with no worries and external pressures to sidetrack his performance. Watson is right the week after Joges went down we solved it sndcgur the next 6 weeks started our run and looked like the team we all want the Dees to be. OnwRds and upwards with Sam have no doubts he will succeed.
  5. Sorry Wrecker you are not on the money with that opinion. Sam's field marking has been one grab in R23 and the two MCG Finals. Last goal vs Geelong was as clean a mark and follow through kick off his left foot as you will see. Jesse was not always a one grab and I think Sam is as good and will be better overhead in the near future. Cant wait to see him keep improving all aspects of his game. Kicking for goal is elite by the way.
  6. While JV Maxie And Nev are all good choices for either Capt and VC let's please not wipe off or forget Jonesy's CV. Hasn't done much wrong in the captaincy stakes that I can think of only query is will he be in our best 22 all season? Lets leave it as is as the team will always be selected by form, even if it does produce the potential tough decision/s. Also reckon Tommy Mac has come from behind in the last 2 years to push his leadership Claims, following on his leadership group role in 2017. One for the future. PS Lever and May aren't bad prospects either!
  7. Who's Jordan Peterson ? Toms got 3 more years on his contract Both he and Gawny May have their time in the next few years.
  8. Well put Saty Whatever the rehab result and preparation issues or not with some players I have no doubt that first 22 for Mar 23 vs Power will still be an awesome team ready to embrace the challenge in front of us in 2019. Go Dees
  9. Big futuregir Sam Love his commitment skills awareness of Team responsibility and faith in the Club. Big year for Sam 35/50 goals. Like any Dees fan will never forget that Elim Final and the super performance from all and Sam's bog. Breakout last few games in 2018.
  10. On the Galahs photo the player to the right of him is Barry Davis of Essendon a tough and skilful half back.
  11. Gus will only get better with disposal and skill this year. Great story of faith and ability.
  12. MurDoc516 are you talking abiut Buckley? Can't say that with Goody as he was assistant in past at Dons and under Roosy. Melb were happy with him in that role. This sounds like the role Carlton have with Bolton. Believe if Goody is happy then go with it but a term gives some relativity to all Football Club decisions. ztjinkk 3/4 years would be fine to add as I expect us to contend until st least 2024/5 looking at list age group and potential A graders on our list st present. Goody is the right bloke with help to nurture and succeed with the talent at his disposal and not only get that elusive snd much waited for 23 th but perhaps a dynasty like Hawks or Cats.
  13. Don't think Maynard would be fit enough based on his workload last Sat at Camp Mdore. But good team minus an engine room and May plusTom Mac.
  14. Re the sellout I went to the bookin link and it stated that tickets were all sold. Perhaps a call to the Club would be best to get advice. Yes It is not really feasible that the whole ground is sold out but no way either will they get 12,000 in at Casey based on previous crowds of say 6,000. Ground will have a safety net of say 8,000 or similar I imagine and then say Sold Out. As I live in Qld won't be in town that weekend so no real problem for me but hope the game is worthy of a sellout with both Clubs treating it with seriousness.
  15. So much for tickets to a practice game dl4e! Melb vs Brisbane has sold out !!! That Old Melb history of being able to turn up on the night or day and get a seat is a part tiingnif the past. Can I suggest that the Blockbuster Anzac Eve vs Tigers and Queens Birthday vs Pies games be treated with greater urgency if you want seats in specific locations in the ground. in other words start getting your act together as both will be 80,000 plus I imagine! Our home game vs Bombers in Round 3 is also another get your ticket if you aren't a member or get there early.anyway. Cheers and here's to three great games in anticipation. oh and let's not forget JLT on Mar 3. Great TV viewing on Fox!!!
  16. I agree the coverage of The Camp in 2019 especially Saturdays wonderful open Day has been somewhat underwhelming. What has happened to Burgo? No longer with us ? Did I mess an email? A fantastic turnout of Dees Qld fans and really those who went would not be disappointed. Players were great and couldn't do enough to sign be photographed and talk to all ages and embrace this opportunity to meet new fans no doubt to this opportunity. Just a few photos and some summary would be great to let our fans elsewhere in Aust and beyond to show how hard they are training to get 2019 to a new level and be the team we believe and want to be the best they can be. Otherwise all going well and rehab group will feature in the JLT. Trust our medicos and decision makers. We have learnt the hard way with Vines in 2017!! My summary of Sat Open day in Maroochydore is somehow in the section headed "How our recruits are shaping up" No doubt due to my lack of technology expertise. Go Dees !!
  17. Good recovery and positive thoughts for Shae all the best for next season
  18. I would give 4 with option after 3 to resign early but happy with 5 also. Will lift that Cup one day and might be with Co Capts or ones solely on their own. Hope it is with both and am confident our group is still developing nicely with this year and the next half a decade or even longer in that cycle. Go Dees
  19. Attended the main Dees Open Training Session At Maroochydore Sports Complex this morning from 9am to end at approx 11.40am then plenty of time for the oldies youngies teens and toddlers oh and babes in arms to get the whole lists' autographs. Players Divided into rehab on second oval and fit and firing on the main ground. Rehab had about 8/10 inc. disappointingly Gus Vines Clarry May Spargo and understandably Jake L Maynard Jonesy and Oscar No 2 Baker and Guy Walker all did recovery running kick to kick and slow drills with no body contact like match simulation. About 20% of the very large and colourful crowd watched this.No stand outs but May did very little Gus Jack and Clarry a lot Jake is holding himself back from kicking other than very lightly on right foot. The main group did plenty of tackling, one on one drills plus match simulation and were divided into 2 teams taking the ball from one end of the ground to the other where by a player from the attacking team ran into an open goal. Forwards did some high msrking drills using the leather support to gain height. Mixed results but plenty of set goal kicking in the match play with about 80% accuracy. Tommy Mac Weid and Keilty kicked well. Generall I add these comments about the session. Very professional and organised session. No sign of Melsham or KK on ground that I could see. Maxy and Brayden P are like 2 giraffes long legs and tall bodies a good 6 inches above others. Active and alert both. New recruits not heavily noticed but Toby Bedford eye catching in speed and once timing etc kicks in will be good. Keilty is clunking some marks and hs development as a forward May surprise us all along with Pruess and Weids development. Jeffy in thick of it and Oscar No 1 in the bucket hat did sort of stand out. Good one on one duels near end featuring Maxy and Weid, Tom Sparrow and maybe Josh Wagner. ANB still running into easy goals plus Vanders is the fittest thank goodness of his career. Couple of predictions to finish up! Fritta will end up in our best 5 players at end of this year no matter where he plays.Big seasons for Spargo Oscar No 2 and Vanders. That's a good start for improvement without and new draft recruits in the mix. Thoroughy enjoying session with love in the air as everyone dares to dream of what may lie ahead this 55th year of waiting for our well overdue 13th flag. The Baby Boomers are like excited kids myself among them awaiting September and it's outcome.
  20. Dropping the games last season against the below sides all had reasons not necessarily complacency. Geeong R1 Negative coaching keeping extra man in defence I'm last quarter and a msn short in forward line meant we didn't score from many forward entries. Still should have won with Maxies kick! Hawks R4 Bad day all round in wet Started well but lost contact with Hawks on ballers and were dismantled like many previous occasions in the last decade by Hawks precise teamwork. Tigers R5 Nowhere near as bad as many Dees fans said. Held dangerous Tigers till we kicked first goal in last quarter then floodgates opened. Defence solid but attack inefficient by and large. Pies R 12 After 6 big wins our midfield was comprehensively smashed. Too many players in fir ball together and no outside runners matching up enabling Pies to control the ball Cic a threat all day as well. R14 Port Should Have Won, again forward line impotent but lead of 3 goals withered down in last quarter. Tried our hearts out in a courageous effort. R15 Saints 3 point loss but flattered us really. Probably selection of Harry Petty did not help defence but this was the loss that on ladder was a 2017 repeat. R18 Cats At GHMBA Last quarter lapse and defence going through growing pains.Refusal to put Frost on Hawkins and about a dozen mistakes in the last 10 mins pivotal. Why does Nev get caught against a taller opponent. Coaching issue? 8 more scoring shots!!. R21 Swans Horrific forward work and lack of accuracy again cruelled our chances.Swans smarter but again we were our own worst enemy. 6 more shots! Prelim less said the better see vs Pies for part reason per midfield but bad bad day. So IMO our forward line and coaching game day and selection are more pertinent in 2018 than complacency. Still overall a wonderful end (Prelim excepted) and best season for 18 years. Are now considered a real contender and respect pretty much from all AFL is universal. Expectations are on the agenda but our group seem hungry Motivated and unified ready for the challenge. Supporter base is holding its collective but enormously positive breath for 2019 to finally end the greatest drought currently in the AFL and indeed for the Mighy Demons.
  21. Prob Danger had disposal about the same as Jayden Hunt but if Tom S turns out like Danger there won't be too many Dees fans upset. He can improve also ! Outside pace is the key and power with it. And he endurance factor important. Different type of mid again so exciting to add his potential to our list. Looks like he will debut early rather than later if he continues to learn and put his head down and bum up!
  22. Surely Tommy Mac (as a forward) better than Prymke , and Bernie.
  23. Good concept for the current team. On the path add Fritsch (bit of Tulip in him) One of our greats over next decade and of course Clarry and Jack V. Mystery Man Player Pruess Agree with in 2019 and beyond And not this year but 2020 on James Jordon. AFL Coach of 2019 Goody
  24. If Norm Smith is considered as a player then make it a Club best team ever or 150 year team. Or make it over 54 years since 1964 and many trajicsvlike me can give greater importance to yesteryear. A team from 1896 to 1964 can be done and then the best selected from those 2 teams. Remember those who have played in premierships should IMO be graded in front of others if about equal. I agree that Jakovich on pure ability for FF and Neiter to backline as it's a bit small anyway. No real big players to play on beasts of the opposition. Also Tommy Mac in Forward Pocket instead of Brad Green is also a chance maybe Jurrah starts but Tommy in 22 and he can play forward or back as well. Greeney and Ooze fight out HF flank. if over longer period then Wellsy snd Alvesey are surely better than Tingay over a longer period and Gary Hardeman is in our Team of Century I think. (Again just as good if not better over a longer period ) Also surely Gerard Healey if Jako and Jurrah Are in over the shorter period would get a guernsey. Pre 12th flag The Cordners Ivor Warne Smith Percy Zbeames are nearly walk up starts and a plethora of flag heroes of 1954 to 64 and 1939 to 1948 also. Mueller Fanning? Mithen Roet Keneally Ridley and the greatest of all Baras. Tas Johnson Stuart Spencer Don Williams Geoff Case and Hassa Mann. Reckon the modern side would be the most exciting but the 12 flag side too tough and smart when the chips were down if they ever met. Sorry to digress but the most important now is how our current team can write itself in these thoughts after say a flag or two or dare I say 3!!! Can also be purely an AFL team since 1990. !
