  1. Disagree never enough talls. Grab Tauru at 5 and one of the top mids even at 9. Tauru is an X factor as he plays both ends and a freakish mark. A game changer in other words. One mid this year plus Sharp and Brown to surprise with run and carry to assist our game plan.
  2. Really Darkhorse !! suggesting a forward who was a nice bloke but failed in sO many simple ways at footy to assist our young forwards now is like the most ridiculous comment and idea I’ve heard of. Next you will want Mark Neeld to be part of the Dees next coaching succession plan. Please be a a very dark darkhorse and don’t stand for any board or FD positions should they become available in the now or future.
  3. Here here Sydee

    Name them all please !
  5. Jed can play up forward might be good to give him a chance in pre season at CHF .

You haven’t got even one if the best 7/8 mids in mind. Not realistic. Tauru will be lucky to be T 9 If we want him 5 might be best then a gun mid will still be available at 9.

Still wasting your time Wilmoy how many times are you refusing to believe what Clarry said. All that matters now is he is on board and getting raring to go. Let it rest. As KD said he said it on Nat TV Ch 7 last Saturday at the races when interviewed. Other footballers were on the same program from Ch 7 obviously invited to attend on the day.

Why drop back 15/16 looks exactly where the very top level tapers off. But a fair chance you could get a B grader by 2 instead of a real A choice at 9 who would have a greater impact.

Why not just get the players that are in front of you and not be too cute. Even in this flood of top chances some players are needed more than others I believe. Tauru at 5 and the best mid available at 9 looks the best strategy to me. Big player with huge upside will have the biggest effect on our forward line. Then any of the 7/8 mids are going to be a great choice at 9 yo add to our midfield. While me need mids with pace and finishing skills I believe Sharp and Pup Brown could be big surprises if we use their run and carry smarts around the forward line especially. Tweaking Windsor to the centre could well straighten us up also. He is such a good user of the ball and covers ground so well I find it hard to believe he couldn’t kick 15/20 goals from there in 2035. So much more attacking just by his pace and style of game he reminds me of a potential Chad Warner and of.course on the wing Robbie Flower.
  10. Yes but part of our problem is we are full of bulls and sort of one paced unless cameos from Kossie are increased. Riv is a bit of both and if Windsor is moved to the centre like I advocate plus a classy on baller with pace and outside run that should alter our mix. Remember all our tough bulls will get the ball out to these runners and more skilled players in many occasions. Tauru or Armstrong either looks a great prospect and not to bolster our forward marking setup with such quality, this ONE player could completely transform our on ball and forward lines work in one go. Let’s see what we get with 5 and 9 either JT again ready to deliver some candy on this occasion.

While I understand they Pert has done what he did in conjunction with the FD List Cttee. It was a search to test the waters as remember last pre season Clarry was warned that he had to tick s few boxes. While I thought he had done a good job according to the FD advice publicly may be some cracks appeared. In the end it hopefully is alls well that ends well. Fitness is the key to Clarry in running and the clearing up of his hand leg and ribs for all the preseason. Regarding Perty I believe that he has some credits still and he is crucial to the success of the Caulfield Training base development till its completion. Let’s see what the Reviews bring up in the public domain before we throw too many babies out with the bath water.

Disagree one for the future a mid which we desperately need but a talent like Armstrong or Tauru are considered almost generational and if scalable at 5 or 9 one of them would add a potential A grader to our forward line. How much better will all our youngsters be with a true KPF capable of 50/60 goals on top of the usual suspects of Fritta and Kossie and the possibility of our new mid plus Trac kicking goals and over a 110/120 goals potentially from the mix of JVR Disco Harry P and Jeffo over a season when they hit their prime in the forward line. Mids do not normally take 5 years as you indicated to reach near their peak and are a lot more freely available in both draft or trade situations than talls. In fact our talks will be the ones that will be in their prime in 4/5 years with a mid a year enough to replace Both Trac and Clarry around the end of the decade, or slightly earlier or later should that occur.

Well it’s still possible if they dearly want a player for specific needs or if they very unwisely try to split pick 9. Not the year to do it I don’t think.
  14. Age is not the major issue remember you work in most jobs you are not penalised as your experience and footy smarts are still expected in your twilight years. Having said this I don’t think Maxy deserves a pay cut after 2024 would have been his hardest year yet with both the Oliver and Trac situations plus our overall letdown of the team from middle to the end of the season. it is rare that players are reduced Tmac was a. Negotiated one but Maysie has probably escaped a little although he still in the top 5 FB in the AFL.

What about a NEW forward coach? Font blame the mids all the time it’s Goody’s problem and if he festive it this year then he should be replaced as we won’t win silverware,
  16. Agree agree agree get him
  17. Get him at 5 and a quality mid still at 9. Both bases covered.
  18. We don’t need a bull we need a classy outside running mid who has good disposal kicks goals and runs endlessly. If he is big like Langford so be it. But there is enough for us at 9 in the mids available to get a class midfielder.

That sideways kicking can be player motivated which is best but it can also be drained out by a game plan. it’s all part of the Hawthorn plan and Swans are not bad at it also. I want aggressive players and Tauru and Langford might well fit the bill if available. Would not be upset if Armstrong and say Smith or Smillie or Lindsay saluted our needs on availability if choice demands.

But you asked proof all along and all I did was give you the info to follow up. This in this case is prime evidence from the horses mouth ( albeit a summary of the events from his perspective). That you obviously seem to ignore this information is mind blowing. Yes it’s different from parts of what happened but let’s be honest a friendly meeting of some players on a farm ( without the Club dynamo Mackie I believe) is about as social as Geelong could provide. At least they didn’t tour the first 30 kms of the Great Ocean Rd and show him a potential property!! Let’s all accept that Clarry is now in his most certain phase and has parked as experience his Geelong adventure for now. As a Club we need to move heaven and earth to ensure that our results are as good as possible ( Finals and deep into even a Flag) are attained. One year is not going to alter the money equation drastically. Important to note that Harry Petty was going to leave for Adelaide this time of the year and excited a Club extension after all. Let’s look at all the resignings this year. While our results and some mistakes both Board and football have been made we have succeeded in retaining only ANB hs left for genuine reasons. Grest credit for the list to stop And think about our 2022 to 2024 follow up and while injuries have played significantly other things like game plan, selection and mind set on not to lose rather than to win ( complete opposite of Lions philosophy) it is changeable thank goodness as is the players inner most thoughts towards 2025.

Not sure what you have done by publishing your pecking order from our selection no 5 Dee. What’s happened to from Pick 1 -5. You have missed out on 2 spots at least by mentioning Langford and OSullivan. FWIW No one is sure who Richmond and North will take at 1 and 2. It is considered good mail that at 3 Blues will take SamWalsh’s cousin Finn O’Sullivan at 3 and Adelaide their local boy Sam Draper. We then have pick No 5 so one of Langford/Lalor/ Tauru/ Armstrong could be available depending upon North and Tigers at the top of the draft. JT has to make a decision and I hope he takes Tauru or Armstrong if available at 5 and one of the mids like Reid/Lindsay/Smith/ Smillie at 9 after the Tigers have 6 and Saints 7 and 8. Tauru has the highest draft improvement from all players seems to be the info.
  22. Absolutely Hardtack I hope we can get Tauru at pick5 as he is total X factor and had unlimited potential. Great mark and could be a possibility on the ball with his mobility. Way to go. As you have said there will still be a good/ great mid at pick 9 for us such is the depth of this draft. I hope JT is all over this and follows up with Tauru at 5 and the best suited mid for us at 9.

No but if you care to go back to Page1 of this new Oliver topic you can read a report on the interview. Also if you go to the copy of Herald Sun ( Also in the Melbourne other paper The Age) you can read articles of the interview. Also pictures of Clarry at the races. Because you don’t make any attempt to follow up information or posts it doesn’t mean that stories are made up. Especially if you don’t believe the information as it may not coincide with your opinion.
  24. Sam Mitchell did not run fast and that districts home. Its always the same on D/L some one comes up with a very good player who has6/7 good points and says he’s slow and that is immediately transferred to all and sundry we shouldn’t take him. Langford has also had the same “fault” lack of pace is a worry despite he is a big strong build licks well gets the ball and also kicks goals Someone else is small, Armstrong is not tough enough Very rarely do 18 yo’s have all skills completely so let’s not nitpick about all of them and embrace whoever we pick. This draft looks extraordinary and with picks 5 and 9 two very good young footballers will join us. I hope Tauru is one for our talls and X factor plus a good mid preferably who kicks goals and can provide outside run and good disposal. Ie different to other mids we have already.
  25. It’s 1-4 actually and off a 10 goals mauling to boot. Similar to a AFL Lions run in 2001 as after a 10 goal thrashing at Ikon Park to the Blues (when they were good) they won about 14/15 straight to claim the first of their three peat flags. Hopefully we can emulate that feat however it is great to see the familiar feistiness, team first ethic and the rapid fire improvement in many of the newbies and plenty of growth in a lot of the old favourites.
