Farewell Luke Jackson
That's what I have just pointed out that I didn't misquote him. But he made a general statement which you can't see could be intimating we will or might have lots of players traded or moved on'!! Ie. lots of changes on list he said. I disagreed and stated that I believe we won't lose any stars and that we have some changes each year eg Hibbo is a good chance but no stars will be off the list. Its you that are not interpreting some number of potential moves he is forecasting for the end of season. I am simply stating that IMO it won't be many and certainly not stars which I am quite entitled to state snd in doing so disagree!!

Will the next 2 games hurt us?
- Farewell Luke Jackson
Aren't I allowed to make a statement defining what type of players I think might be off our list for next year. With no specific type mentioned I am clarifying I don't foresee any / or hardly any of our STARS. So far our handling of all our players ( after a couple of overpayments in hindsight ) contracts has been both responsible concurrently looking towards the future. To make a bland statement that we will have list changes ( I suspect the inference is that it is due to salary cap tightness) on its own is ok but we always do have list alterations My statement was more about the situation that we won't be needing to lose numbers of vital and talented players willingly under this Board and its sensible process of recent times.- TEAMS: Rd 08 vs St. Kilda
You have misread my comment CF It was as a comparison to Tmac and his marking around the ground. Its not as bad as you say and is a work in progress as he is as a forward also. Some teams don't even play a second ruck or contest at times. Which would you rather?- Farewell Luke Jackson
Yes AJ forgot about Melky Daw may even get another year .- Farewell Luke Jackson
Disagree we won't be offloading our top players but a couple of lesser ability may have to be traded out due to team needs or retirement. Ie Hibbo initially.- TEAMS: Rd 08 vs St. Kilda
Sydney Demon, To say that Tmac is a liability in defence is both incorrect and IMO misjudging his role in Round1 and 7. Tommy has got some height and bulk snd skill to play on a a 200cm forward when Maysie May struggle and Petty is either absent or on another task. It's the flexibility of Tmac that is a great advantage whether he plays forward back or stints on the ball. When comparing Sam whose ruck work is superior snd his marking around the ground more at least equal at this stage of his development. I believe we are giving Sam an inside run to improve and grab a spot in the forward line and as a second/third ruck. Tmac provides bulk and more crumbing options and is a more rounded footballer than Sam at the moment but by the end of the season we don't know? Both players are not 20 plus disposal machines so it's matter of which plays their role and fits in team wise as to who may be the preferred option. 2022 will be interesting for this and many questions who mashed up our7 defenders etc. We are fortunate to have multiple options at our disposal and the jury is out on both our attack and defence at this stage.- Why Petracca, Oliver & Gawn could be best Demons yet
He has already "cleaned it up " a lot in the last 2 seasons. He is now fast paced out of packs runs through gaps and looks right snd left and directs the ball to a player by short or long kicks. Yes he kicks for length also and cleverly kicks a long sort of torp which covers the ground quickly. Robbie did not have any apparent weaknesses but there are a dozen pieces of play per match that I am certain Clarry does that even Robbie may not have been capable of inside the hurly burly of midfielders skill set. That's because Robbie played wing HFF and occasionally FP or perhaps a cameo in the centre. Granted he could find space in a phone box and was clever enough to go unchecked. The Roles are different and both could/can go forward and kick goals which Clarry has added to his game. We have to acknowledge also both players durability as neither have bulging physique. Putting it in a word I would say Robbie is the Artist and Clarry is the Craftsman. Both magnificent in full flight to watch. Clarry Will at the end of his career have influenced snd played in probably at least 2/3 times as many wins snd of course through a wonderfully successful era. That does count for some credits over the journey. I also believe that Clarry competes as fiercely for the ball like no other player has ever done in a red and blue jumper. Watch him in the last quarter of a close game and he simply refuses to give his opponents a sniff if it's humanly possible. Who will ever forget when he was tackled at the centre bounce in the third quarter of the GF by multiple Bulldogs and Daisy highlighted this action I'm getting his kick away towards CHF. Similarly Robbies game at Western Oval in the last round of 1987 was so typical of his determination and skill as he hit the scoreboard after half time to ensure we won and played in the Finals after 23 years in the wilderness. Take your pick both champions and either one is a winner as well as the fans at our Club having the privilege of watching either both or one of them.- The top 5 MFC coaches of your lifetime
Put Smithy on top of Goody and that's my order. 1958to 2022. BTW the worst was Neeld.- Rejuvenating My Best 22?
At the moment Sam Tmac or Daw are quite adequate. No need to panic as a good all round footballer is better in depth than a youngster learning that craft. You only need to remember the Kings, and more recently the basketballers son. It's not hard to pick up decent ruckman as third banana in any of the drafts these days and by nature they switch to Clubs where that will get match play. Thats why a Daw or similar or Weid or Tmac are sufficient mostly.- Jake Bowey Rising Star #2
Should be "Omly debit compared to Sam"- Jake Bowey Rising Star #2
If Bowey was placed in the centre and played a Sam Mitchell type game he would challenge the best no doubt. Only debit on Sam is I can't remember him ever kicking left foot yet.! I am hdppy him playing where it's best fit our team as he has never let us down yet .- Low Attendance
Sorry You commented on another post should have put his name on this post sincere apologies- CHANGES : Rd 08 vs St. Kilda
The best Cttee is 7 members on it but 6 ABSENT and only one attending!! I am backing the lady in pink to do the job solely as she has form. Chose Paddy Mac No 1 and Trac No2 back in 2014 Nat Draft.- Low Attendance
Both I would say or 3.20 Sunday on FTA.- Low Attendance
But have you been to a game snd uts like comparing lemons and bananas in sport Most genuine and loyal sports fans would combine AFL and EPL easily so sorry not impressed at all. BTW maybe charnge back to us now as ManU fit look as though they will win the Cups any time soon! And you seem to be a picker and chooser for successful sporting franchises. No thoughts of enjoying the journey to the top!- Low Attendance
Why WCEagles ??? we have never ever had more than about 32,000 for a H and A game for those flogs. so good to see their gloating fans go through some pain now. Must admit what a wonderful player Josh Kennedy has been and 700 goals is a great achievement well earned. BUT twice he should have been suspended or referred by the MRO for rough or illegal acts vs Dees and hasn't been in the last 6/7 years. That's only starting what about the umpires over the years? HOWEVER we have had the last laugh I guess with the wonderful prelim and Grand Final performances in 2021 and had majority crowd and our own fans support to see that magical 13th Flag!- Low Attendance
Good luck hope you wear a mask !!- Low Attendance
It's no good having packages on sale without dates be fair to the Club it's an AFL issue largely. You would be furious if packages were on sale now and got the flight details wrong !!! Its because of the floating fixture.- Low Attendance
Yes Dees vs Saints H and A all at MCG 1961 I think about 60, 000 won easily 1965 72,000 QB clash start of decline beaten by about 6 goals at least. early 2000's 55,000 approx.Cam Bruce was BOG I reckon. 5 goals. Win by about 5/6 goals. Never over about 40, 000 at Marvel in early 2,000's we lost by about 5/6 goals- CASEY: Rd 06 vs Box Hill
Fritta has proved if you have the skills size is not the first thing a forward needs. You are the first person who has said that JVR would be better suited to defence. ( because if his size) I suggest you look at his highlights and his body on body competitiveness looks in good shape. Naturally it's harder ehen an 80 kg teenager is playing on 95:100 KP players. But give JVR a full pre season ( or two) refer Jacko, snd he will be mixing it with most KP Players. JVR had impressed with his marking straight and long kicking and leading and have all declared his ability as a young protege is beyond doubt. In the draft it was well known he can play forward or back and I think its great the Club have him training as a forward in view of our defensive load of talent with Petty and Turner as stars of the future or now as in Harry's case.- Tom McDonald 200th game this week?
PS Remember R17 vs Eagles goal in square match winner and in GF Tommy Sparrows shepherded goal and earlier in year another similar shepherd. He has some brownie points surely here !!! No one else seems to do it!!- Tom McDonald 200th game this week?
OUCHI Many fans are far too quick to condemn Tmac. His ability to provide a contest in marking and prevent our opponents get a clean mark is without question. Weid does not do that consistently and our small forwards need those crumbs for their tackling or goalkicking opportunities. Tmac is a more rounded player than Sam but Sam is improving his versitility and awareness week by week and will have breakout days of 3/4/5 goals occasionally. Tommy has about 3 goals max but provides more score involvements. Sam is msybe ahead slightly as a second ruck snd can mark well as does Tommy around the ground. Of course Tmac can play CHB or FB and I would have him in the 22 to combat if needed on King on Sunday, especially if Petty is not 100% or not playing. Agree we need all of BBB Tmac and Sam fit and firing for selection at any stage.- Low Attendance
El Diablo Your analogy of ground capacity is irrelevant. Vary rarely if ever is Marvel capacity threatened as elite match ups snd top clubs games are drawn at the G. In actual fact if Sat nights game was played at Marvel about 25/27 would have attended. Both Clubs supporters favour the G demonstrably as do Even Tigers and Pies fans. I am a little disappointed that our crowds for games overall seem to be about 5/10,000 light on a real increase due to our success. That's US our membership and supporters not OPPOSITION in my opinion. Two observations are the MCC has not been near full yet according to a poster earlier in this dialogue bookings are high in reserving ahead. As I don't know of the conditions of these bookings it looks as though it's the same with our Cotories groups Roth Level 2 not full but sold out for the season in the Olympic and Warne Stands. MCC should be looking at their on day turn ups and leave a greater area for roll ups on the day. They die may be cast it looks like for this season here. Some of Our fans have too much money and a different priority set it appears. I admire their monetary commitment but empty seats won't occur on QB hopefully or our last two Home games in Rounds 21 and 22 vs Pies and Blues, BTW Covid should be at the lower end of the scale now as ticket bookings issues and I bet all the MCC and our Coterie groups will be expecting and gung ho to attend the Finals.- POSTGAME: Rd 07 vs Hawthorn
LH GWS no supporters US (21,000 odd) Hawks prob 5/8,000 US (32,000) Bombers about 12/14,000 (32,000)US Dogs 8/10,000 (50,000)US You are right re opp supporters AFL members not relevant unless Cwood Richmond and I would have thought Hawthorn (over the last 30 years ).we have very few AFL members but approx 20,000 MCC members. Font think neutral fans go much at all except on small basis with friends who support the participating team. Not like years ago with games at the G. So with games vs SaintsvFreo Sydney Lions we still may get below 50,000 to all of those games except Swans. Cwood and Carlton are blockbusters if both teams in 8 or challenging.and 65,000 to 80,000 plus is possible. That May produce an average of around 40/45,000 per game. Not the 50,000 average our 4 year plan wants to achieve at this stage. Of the Plan. This is all speculative of course. - Farewell Luke Jackson
