  1. Poor judgement on Gus again. For a multiple position choice player of 3 or 4 years a star in our program and AFL and one injured in between why class him as a "lesser" player at our Club. You will vote his disposal I know as a demerit which is exagerated when compared to some of our other top players. Major issues is where we get the best team wise out of Gus ie wing half back or in the middle?

And why has Laurie effectively cost us a first round draft pick this year?

Regarding Laurie you don't know what this season will bring. Look at his training photo and to me it seems he has taken off some weight and his body looks thinner snd much fitter. Your trouble is you want instant success and don't allow players time snd they all take different time to reach AFL status. I take a more patient approach and consider injuries luck and smaller details in assessing the player and his ability. This could well be Lauries year of development and you have totally written him off !
  4. Yes he is LFS
  5. Why Salem? Clearly was played too soon and never regained total match fitness all 2022 season. Have you forgotten his near BOG (Prob 3rd after Trac and Fritta) in the Premiership Grand Final Win and stellar season in 2021. Hate to be ill or injured in your house you would consign me to the garage if it lingered too long!

That will never happen NC let's be hopeful Goody etc give Petty the opportunity to spearhead or CHF our attack.
  7. The trouble Picket some posters ( eg Mach 5) want the finished product of a draftee at 18/19 and also concentrate on some alleged or minor defects which most often can be developed or trained for. MY previous post on why we should embrace and take MJ sums up his good points snd I believe he has the attributes as a base of a very good footballer and also the odd elite trick that separates him from C/ B grader like Sam Weid.

It's not actually trading up really!
  9. It's Sunday BTW and about 30 deg is forecast which means about 32/33 deg. inland !!
  10. To all the doubters and supporters who have commented on Matthew Jefferson I offer the following comments following his highlights stats and career that has been covered by the gurus and "experts" alike. 1. Cadman is NOT going to be available and MJ is clearly the second best KPF on his record in Junior and Championship ( National ) footy so far. 2. Matthew has put on 8 kgs and about 3 cms since his first stats about 9/12 mths ago. 3. He like most of the top 15/20 draftees speaks very/surely and confidently about himself indicating a degree of belief based on a good grounding on the forward line so far. 4. Regarding Lucas Cook and comparisons once again he like Wattsy was expected to be a saviour, almost lone handed. JVR and MJ have the benefit of if fit and available Tmac BBB Gawny Brodie and Fritta plus a plethora of mids and smalls playing forward to learn and develop plus our superior coaching at the Club now. 5. If you say that MJ is only being selected as being the next in line for FF and we should delay our selection till Mr Right comes along he is clearly 2nd best and has a number of skills that make good forwards. That is good mark good lead good kick ( record is fine for the one poster who knocked this) and he is ripe for further development already maturing in size. 6. To be a good KPF you need to be a good rounded player with some tricks and to me looking at his highlights he has got some X factor as well these tricks which makes him a potentially good AFL player. Of course how he handles expectation and pressure are vital factors to be proven. 7. JVR came to us with his package of ability to play at KPF or KPD and has started well and been a very good contributor at Casey who excites us with his potential. Because we didn't know about him as much he has not got the grilling Matthew is getting. We are accepting of him as we have seen some real evidence at Casey that he could be a good/great Demon on the forward line. 8. There is no way knowing if MJ will fulfil his draft potential but he looks a "good footballer" to me and I Will back JT and the FD to select him as we need some young forwards to blossom with our other stars to be confident of some success over the next 5 plus years. Recruiting good footballers ensures you have a choice of options in a team that their ability can break games apart with their talent. MJ I have the feeling is this. PS David Schwarz always looked a good footballer in 1991/2 in the Reserves and JVR and Bowser to me are similar at the Dees from Casey form and Bowers first 20 plus AFL games. MJ's highlights are indicative of a player with football gifts that may well separate himself from others and become an elite Demon forward. Go forth and select JT and company and good luck.
  11. 56 can you please state in about 2/3?lines what you mean in your tirade about Gerard Healy. I I must be dumb but that is so verbose on a Monday morning!!
  12. What a stupid statement. Maybe his best in 2025 but has enough smarts ( tricks) to make an impact a lot earlier especially if we have JVR Tmac and BBB plus other forwards producing each week.
  13. 58er replied to Random Task's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
No we didn't in 2012 and 2013 either!!
  14. This was done for the Prelim Final post from the AFL and on page 1 of this thread.
  15. It's the land of the Indigenous tribe that the ground is located within. Boy oh boy WJ haven't you noticed the last few game details with this on under the grounds ordinary address!!
  16. That's the thing we bring because of our game plan ability and pressure other teams back to our level and make it a fair dinkum scrap. I do think we do have to not let the Lions kick goals in a run and have to make up more than 2 or 3.
  17. Not sure I agree Durango no recruits or even Dunstan were tried so we have no real idea. Surely Chandler Dunstan and Bedford weren't seriously considered as others held on to places with inconsistent and sub par form. Our best 23 was tired and partly injured but no team changes eventuated. Amazing we now don't have Weid Toby or Hunty but Brodie Schache and Lachie H are good returns for 2023 who all should assist with JVR for our team to rise again when the chips are down in the Flag race.
  18. Matthew Is now 84kgs and 195m And believe aware of his development and need for this change. I am very bullish and pick 13 must go to Matthew if he is available. Might even turn out better than Cadman!!!
  19. Who knows in 2 years Fraser May be AFL ready. Hope he does well and Dees keep eyes on him. Good Luck Fraser.
  20. That's not how the talk from all experts has been Davis. JT is too smart to fall for "trading down". No value at all to ruin the compensation for Jacko. Why really is there any reason for a dramatic drop in picks 11-30 to justify a good position for elite talent that is not available every year. We should embrace our first choice just like We have over the last 6/7 years and revel in their ability to help us win another Flag or two.
  21. Well said no value in trading Down! A no of elite talents are there in the top 15/20 which we shouldn't say no to also.
  22. Very fair summary but still believe Fritta is totally underrated by many other Clubs fans. He is an A grader IMO and his footy skills are amazing. Look forward to 2023 and him hopefully playing up firward with JVR Tmac BBB Jefferson Kossie and the rest of the gang including Harry Petty!
  23. Yes I can't see how going backwards can really help us get the best players Mr Leg. AGree that a 2nd round future added may be handy to boost our 2nd round 37. Bekieve Jefferson is No 1 at 13 (14) and either George or Allan are good gets if we can move up.
  24. Not sure if you gave any real Psycho quals DN and can judge degrees of confidence or amount of eye contact. Many players change Clubs and Lachie is no different. We have provided the opportunity to better our list and I have faith in the culture and coaching at the Club will enable Lachie to regain his best form and play a very positive role in our 2023 quest to regain our No 1 spot. Brodie and Schachey also will be great for us. Please report back in mid June with your patients!!
  25. Agree BDA The review was shallow and about 3 mins at most highlighting Fritta and his selfishness or similar depending upon your view. Not ONE mention of Grundy Hunter Schache or JVR or our injury handling or effect late in the year or Tmac returning.Useless babble from Johnno and nothing salient from Healey.
