SOLUTIONS NEEDED. 2 JUNE 2024. Memo to Goody
Because the way we got him to the club was a 4 year contract. He believes he can still play, cant force him to retire. I am sure he can still offer something, he's not the only forward to struggle in this team. He was a UFA (cos he was delisted and re-rookie'd) so he was able to pick and chose where to play this year, we wanted to retain him. Obviously signing Hunter to play wing limited some of the rotations on the wing and JJ found himself too low on the pecking order for midfield rotations. Don't think the club really made an error bringing in an actual wingman in Hunter. On paper he would have still been behind Petracca, Clarry, Viney, Brayshaw and Sparrow - so can't blame him for looking at other options. Just a series of bad things has occurred since with the medical retirement of Brayshaw, Clarry issues and a regression (?) of Viney.

SOLUTIONS NEEDED. 2 JUNE 2024. Memo to Goody
At the end of the day our list is 2 men down with Brayshaw medically retired and JS suspended. Not sure VFL team this weekend a fair reflection of depth given emergencies required for our game and injury list had JvR, Melk, Spargo, Hore, Schache, Lever. You'd assume if fit JvR, Melk, Spargo, Lever would be in the match day squad at a minimum, maybe even Hore? So a flow on would occur and what not. Not doubting we have some depth issues in certain positions though.

SOLUTIONS NEEDED. 2 JUNE 2024. Memo to Goody
If we beat Freo we go to 3rd on the ladder, instead we slump to a big loss and drop down to 10th. So it's an interesting one to debate. But even with some of our wins this season there have been questions Things don't look right on the pitch at the moment. Is it the new game plan? Is it a lack of midfield depth? is it carrying too many NQR Players? We've conceded 100+ points 5 times since 2019 I think, 2 of which came in the last 3 weeks. So something a little off, surely it can't just be the injury to Lever.

Key Forward Wanted.
I do think Cornes is a bit of a peanut but he's right here IMO - Sydney tried to lure Western Bulldogs forward Aaron Naughton with a reported $12 million contract across 10 seasons. King is a superior player to Naughton and 12 months younger. King would not be short of suitors in Victoria – think Collingwood, Melbourne, Essendon and Geelong, who should be looking for a replacement for their club games record holder, Tom Hawkins Wonder what the trade and wage would need to be to get him over the line? We have gone heavy with young forwards recently so need to be cautious how much is traded away i guess.

Whispering in the Umpires Ears
Pity none of them are whispering "Petracca is being held all the time" to the umpires lol

2024 Injury List
Turner gone from 2-3 to Test; that's a nice change. Spargo gone from 2-3 to TBC: that's possibly a sad change.

Welcome to Demonland: Shane McAdam
laconic has crept into the sports commentators lexicon for about 20 years now and doesn't really accord with the definition. It is now being used in a way to describe many things ranging from lazy, laid-back to effortless skill etc, this convo has popped up a few times on the d'land, For instance with its usage, did a quick google of an ex-EPL forward Dimitar Berbatov and the word laconic and the following said about him; Fulham striker Dimitar Berbatov is best known for his laconic artistry Despite his laconic image... His laconic style is personal... His laconic gait and slow-motion grace condemn him to cut an anachronistic figure must-win six-pointer derby between busy artisans and laconic artists.

Footy team names
Not my neck of the woods, but some names I have always found funny. The name has changed now, but there was a Welsh soccer team which adopted the name of it's sponsor, Total Network Solutions. That business eventually was taken over and now they are The New Saints FC which is not as funny. There is Club The Strongest and Club Always Ready from Bolivia. Ebusua Dwarfs in Ghana, but the full name is Cape Coast Mysterious Ebusua Dwarfs Football Club. My favourite league for names is the Botswana Premier League which features Security Systems F.C, Botswana Police XI SC and Botswana Defence Force XI F.C.

PREGAME: Rd 12 vs Fremantle
I don't mind playing a player who may be lacking in fitness so it can build up their levels etc. But makes you wonder how many of them you can fit in a team given Petty and McAdam are in the same situation. Understand getting them match fit to AFL level requires some AFL matches but is there a limit to this?

Sunday footy show - Who is the greatest Demon of all time?
This seems a bit of the vibe for me, but a little hard to answer given how the game has changed and also due to the fact i was born in 84, so i don't really remember anything pre early 90s.

Crunch Time
Hopefully we go less moneyball this offseason with the trades and can snare a key puzzle piece.

POSTGAME: Rd 10 vs West Coast
I love BBB but as I said in the match thread he only got a game cos JvR, Turner, Melksham and He who cant be named were out. The reality with BBB is he's a cherry on top player - he can still play a role but needs good delivery and needs others to do some of the hardwork to cover him. When we're a little bit off our game or dysfunctional it's not going to go well for BBB. Imagine Fullarton gets a gig soon to see what he can offer.

Too many kids Danhausen, you don't want to curse them or burn them out with overreliance early on
