  1. I'd put a lot of money on all of Pfizer / Moderna (and Novavax when available) being used on locals first to get second (and booster when Moderna reconfigured for mutations) before OS. CSL AZ deployed to PNG/Pacific and maybe Indo in addition to Covax distributions. There's too much money in vested interests at stake to keep borders closed for a lot longer.
  2. As I said earlier: risk management 101. https://www.theage.com.au/national/australia-let-down-by-failure-to-hedge-bets-on-enough-vaccines-experts-say-20210624-p583v5.html
  3. I'd much prefer to increase our chance of top 2 - and 2 home finals - than worry about interstaters in top 4. Never mind 8 point games, this week is a 32 pointer!
  4. I just don't think they can, for Syd fixtures/clubs, and maybe even Bris...
  5. Not the craziest....(sorry if there's a designated DL-er who starts these - didn't mean to cut your lunch). Via BomberBlitz. Must bring in Snelling. Give him a role to tag Salem. So much of Melbourne’s ball movement goes through him. Hooker needs to be better than what he showed today; May will give him a bath otherwise. Stringer will probably get tagged by Hibberd. Can see Oliver and Petracca v Merrett and parish unfolding with not much defensive attention. Hope Draper is able to back up today’s superb performance. Hope the Dees give Weideman another game, and either Laverde or Francis can give him a towelling up. Give Redman the job on Fritsch. Great test against the Dees on Saturday. Send these snooty twats to the ski fields. Playing Melbourne is a great opportunity to see where we’re really at. I’m looking forward to it. They’re the top of the ladder team at virtually full strength (minus Tomlinson?). I’m pretty sure they’ll get Viney back this week. They’re also fresh off the bye vs us on 6 day break coming back from Tassie (not that it’s a huge trip at all). We can win one, or even both [Ed other being Geelong next round]. Melbourne are more likely, and l see signs of the beginnings of their brittle self doubt emerging. It is a common affliction every season, and is very apparent when the ski season opens. We’re so winning this match. No bombing forward otherwise May and Lever will have a field day interceptingLow/scrubber type kicks when entering forward I don’t rate Melbourne. I think we are a huge chance I just worry about their midfield contested beasts that will push Merrett and Parish to the side Melbourne still have it in them to completely Essington their season. I’d love for us to get the ball rolling. Melbourne are slowly showing signs of going full Melbourne… it’s winnable but need to be cleaner than tonight. I back us in Pies were able to beat them We always think we’re a chance against the Dees.We got close last year and we were rubbish.I’m looking at this game as a free hit. No expectations. Just try and protect the %. The problem we will potentially have against Melbourne is how well they are defending the field when not in possession. If Melbourne can so easily stop the Bulldogs from playing their preferred game, how are we going to go ? Personally, I don’t rate Melbourne as a Flag Favourite. Would have four other teams ahead of them on that count. Take out May and Lever’s influence and they will struggle. A lot of Dollar Shop forwards should not bother our defenders and we can match their mids even with the likes of Shiel, McGrath and Caldwell missing. I’m usually quite lid-off but we are probably kidding ourselves to think we can win this one. I think we’ll do ourselves proud with effort and we might even go close, but more likely there will be a couple of periods where they score a few quick ones against us and we just can’t recover.
  6. Agree, the line is I think 29.5/1.90.
  7. We don't have a What they're saying down at Windy Hill thread and wasn't sure if I should start one. Must bring in Snelling. Give him a role to tag Salem. 8. It's not like we've a dearth of skill to cover. Where's our What they're saying at Windy Hill thread. I imagine it's something like How're we going to cover all of Viney, Oliver, Petracca, Langdon? Who will Jack Viney make cry? How will we get through Lever, May, Petty et al? (I forgot to include the obligatory spelling mistakes).
  9. I'm enjoying finding so many fellow Black Crowes fans here, and in the seniors playing list evidently.
  10. Israel's experience apropos Delta spread through a largely-innoculated population (with mRNA vaccine).
  11. Sigh its pretty much exactly what someone said agree on other points - not victim blaming had enough , tapping out cheers
  12. It is entirely hyperbole - I will make it easier for you - in this context. Your contention is that is impossible to not have social media. That is obviously a falsehood as others here have made plain: there is SMS, Facetime, the phone and private messaging, for cases where face to face contact has been temporarily prevented, as has been the case during Covid lockdowns. I don't use social media to stay in contact with friends and family - who all live interstate - there is SMS, Facetime, Phone calls, and private messaging. If I were inclined to be affected by social media, I would avoid it, and/or, lock down those which can be (like Facebook) to avoid being exposed to that which I wished not to. Do you honestly not understand that? I'll leave this here: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/37830765-ten-arguments-for-deleting-your-social-media-accounts-right-now And mosey on my way, ATB.
  13. The entire world? - hyperbole
  14. I’m apolitical - I vote on issues You make good points and I agree with much of it. as someone who manages risk though, and if I had the choice, I’d have spread my risk by ordering multiple types. Yes we picked 3 - still no Novavax, Pfizer constrained supply, no such issue for Moderna in the US - hindsight a wonderful thing. None of what you said though invalidate my other points I don’t think.
  15. If I recall correctly , CSL is doing 1 million doses a month and has been for some months. Supply no longer an issue.
  16. Apparently the Fed Govt was offered in July last year priority access to whatever volume of Pfizer and Moderna they wanted. Thanks no thanks was the answer. Apparently partly as they wanted manufacturing capability here and there is a connection between the Libs and a high ranking employee at AstraZeneca. I find Ronni Salt on Twitter a good starting point . The US has ample excess. Look at RACF rollout. So, my mind will be firmly turned to this come election time. I don’t have a strong view on the Victorian government management as I don’t live in Victoria - my family who do (I’m an ex Victorian) do and most of them very much support him, thinking the beat up is mostly Murdoch driven, and one who is in the MFB who does not - he also blames DHHS for being poorly prepared particularly around the social housing lockdown in North Mel). I think some of this is very complicated and wouldn’t like to be a the position some premiers have been. I think the state premiers have done well in the main. there are some exceptions - Ruby Princess. For the RACF deaths in Vic I would tend to blame the system that hires casual workers who need to work across facilities to make ends meet and who aren’t adequately trained and prepared. Who manages the bulk of aged care and accreditation and is responsible for the for profit aspect and thus focus on wages. In my view the key issues have been RACF, vaccine procurement and rollout, and quarantine. I’ll let others make their own minds up- that’s just my view, and I know where the responsibility for these lie
  17. I seriously doubt they are morons. I mean, if I was putting money on it, I’d likely put a lot of money on the epidemiologists, infectious disease experts etc vs Internet forums and the general public (of which I am a member).
  18. Forget footy in Sydney, Bondi cluster +10 overnight. I hope everyone remembers who is responsible for the vaccine rollout come election time (which I hope is in Oct). As Albo said: Start jabbing and stop stabbing.
  19. You delete Instagram, Twitter off your phone. You lock FB down to your friends/family. No whatsapp. You ring people and see them F2F. You don't visit Demonland, Big Footy, skip articles about your form online. Unecessary noise.
  20. The line at 1.90 22.5 is very tasty on this one
  21. The problem with this is that there is limited transmission at present, which doesn't provide a compelling reason for people to hasten their vaccination timeline. The prof on RN Breakfast y'day morning also spoke to the different profiles of people. She mentioned that hesitancy was really broken into "wait and see", "undecided", which makes sense given the low level of circulating virus. Another way to look at this is: so long as we have low numbers, then international travel and unrestricted (read: low risk, low friction) domestic travel is out the window. For some that's unimportant, so there's no need to hurry. If you're a university chancellor or any number of industry/vested interests (excluding tourism) who relies on a steady supply of international students, temporary migrant workers (capital C Capital to contain wages), etc, then follow the money. There is a clear interest in vaccinating the populace to reopen the borders.

  23. Enjoy it - better on them than showering us in bath water and it’ll make it all the more enjoyable if they fall in a heap Then we can hear all these moronic stories about how David King and Journo X was “burnt” by the bombers - whatever that means
  24. That’s sad to hear - the club can’t play a player in this mental space I don’t think. Not good for him or the team - back to the 2s for a reboot and get back the mojo Hope he is off Twitter Insta etc
  25. Is Polec even playing in north seniors right now ?
