  1. Totally different players one_demon. We already have two tall forward options, plus Bayley. Melksham can rotate through the middle. Whether he is the best option for that is debatable.
  2. Excellent post, fully agree. As much as I respect Jonesy, Melksham has the edge in being able to impact the game, by hitting the scoreboard. This is as close to best 22 we will get.
  3. It’s what Mansell did prior to the free kick, and ultimately the melee, that caused Kossie to react the way he did. Sniper. But what do you expect with Hardwick as coach
  4. Fantastic news! How good is this to be a Dees supporter at the moment. Perfect start to the year. Key forwards to come in. Oliver and Hunt committing to new deals. Max doing same pre-season. Jonesy to play his 300th on Anzac Eve when we rip the Tigers a new one!
  5. Couldn’t go to the game today because of other commitments, but just watched the replay on Kayo. So impressed with the defensive pressure and running, something that has been missing in the past couple of years. This is a better side than 2018.
  6. Really liking the maturity and resolve this group is showing. Not liking my lack of belief.
  7. I thought this conversation was about his speed? Ah yes, let’s look at “stats”. What exactly does that tell us about a player? I will paint this picture for you......you have the ball, and one Jack Viney is bearing down on you....?????????
  8. Yes he MAY have, but he didn’t want to come. It’s a long season, let’s see how his fitness holds up
  9. Brisbane should make a formal complaint to the AFL about that incorrect disposal non decision. What a disgrace.
  10. Geez, Daniher was a good get for Brissy.........NOT
  11. Ok, what do you base that on? Your perception? A preconceived idea that because he is hard at it he must be “slow”. As I said, watch him.
  12. I will assume from that comment you think Viney is a tad slow. Maybe watch him a bit
  13. 9 years in a row. For all the talk and hype “we’re coming”, they are still mediocre at best. Too small in defence, lacking a dominant ruck, and a relatively old list
  14. Good comment. Was sitting near the interchange bench on Saturday, Goodwin was up and about encouraging players as they came off for interchange. Especially spent time with Oliver. Saints are media love child, of course they are going to highlight Ratten.
  15. What makes him a good leader? Because he can do what others can’t
  16. Petracca by the length of the Flemington straight. He is the future of this club.
  17. Agree with this. Petracca is the MUST keep. If that means letting Oliver go, so be it.
  18. Gary Pert has said that contract negotiations are entirely in Clayton’s hands. So if his management put off negotiations, consider him gone https://www.sen.com.au/news/2021/03/20/melbourne-ceo-provides-update-on-oliver-contract-talks/
  19. Good to get a win, but being at the game there was not a lot to get enthused about. Same old skill errors, Oliver and Petracca still have that tendency to try something cute which ultimately leads to a turnover. They need to get that out of their game. Some positives: I thought they showed a lot more maturity in stemming and turning around what looked like being a Freo comeback. The forward pressure was good. And of course May and Lever. The biggest negative was Jackson. I honestly don’t know what his position is, was beaten easily in the ruck, and don’t see him in our forward structure going forward. And the less said about his kicking the better
  20. Yep, great idea! Let’s take the bloke who finished 3rd in the Brownlow last year out of the engine room. Ridiculous
  21. We will agree to disagree. Appreciate your comments.
  22. Clearly you missed my post yesterday, so here it is again............ Yes it is. So let’s drill down. Brown, Weideman and Viney are the big 3 outs. All with stress/overuse injuries, in the case of Brown and Viney, pre existing. So who manages these situations? Have a look at Geelong and Richmonds current injuryposition. Year after year these two have a dream run. Why is that? I don’t profess to know the answer, but there has to be something more to it than luck....... And to answer your question, no I do not have any inside knowledge. Just having an opinion on a forum site. Maybe we have the wrong people, from the Coach down? Maybe not. What I do know is that we have underachieved for the best part of the last 56 years, and I am totally fed up with it. It’s terrific you are a supreme optimist 58er, most on this site are the opposite. Probably for the same reasons as me.

  24. Not saying they are to blame for injuries. Just over rated
