He’s called Jacob Van Rooyen. He will make a huge difference next year. The rest will fall into place. We have a premiership list, remember 12 months ago. Goodwin knows we need to work out the reasons we fell away this year, and they will. Bring it on, we will be the hunters next year.

And with that, Brisbane went from $3.15 to $3.45. Go figure that out
-
Brisbane out to $3.15

Was there a score? Don’t tell me, 8.15?

Sounds a bit like the walking wounded! So we have Trac limping, Fritsch only hopeful of playing, Spargo doubtful, Jackson with a knee injury that requires surgery, Brown with a knee, Gawn NQR (ankle?), Lever with a foot concern, Oliver with a recently fractured thumb. Have I missed anyone? What was that old adage about taking injured players into finals?

Yes, Smith hasn’t been mentioned much in this discussion, but he was the medi sub on Friday. If another marking forward comes in, then it could, probably should, be Smith

I was in M50 on Friday night. Too bloody quiet! At the start of the third quarter, when we kicked those multiple goals, I stood up and shouted at the rows behind me to get involved! They pretty much all (about 3 rows) just looked at me like I was a crazed [censored]. A lack of passion. I can see where Petracca is coming from. I am sick of going to the footy and being shouted down by the likes of Sydney and Fremantle supporters. Seriously! As John Kennedy said, JUST DO!!!!
-
Yes I agree. I doubt he will get up for next week. Goody also said that TMac could be in the mix depending on how he trains today. It is stating the bleeding obvious to say we need to do something different with the forward set up. I wouldn’t be averse to JVR and Bedford coming in, but doubt that will happen. Melksham, as good as he was against Carlton, is past it. Brown won’t get dropped, even though he was embarrassing last night. He needs to play within the 50 metre arc and stop this ridiculous running up the ground. I would have Bowey in, he is tough, smart and always hits a target. Maybe push Salem to defensive wing. Jackson, do we need to play 2 rucks against Brisbane? I don’t think so. For me, he goes out for that reason, as he gives us nothing up forward.

Straight over the top of the post, even Lynch knew it. ARC got this right.

Available I believe

I was impressed by the way Casey ran all over Sydney in the second half. The first half was played at a blistering speed in quite warm conditions considering the weather we have had. There were a lot of really hot contests in that first half. It was quite obvious that Casey were fitter and stronger, and you would assume that most of the Casey players train under the AFL team work loads. Maybe gives a bit of weight to the loading philosophy? And I want to make mention of Adam Tomlinson, he is clearly a general out there. His verbal instructions to team mates was relentless.

Interesting article in The Age today about Collingwood. Quoted both Maynard and Pendlebury saying they had the belief they can win when behind late in games, they actually train for those scenarios. Glad I read this. It tells me they may subconsciously switch off during periods of a game. You won't win finals if you do that

You should be sorry. That was a brilliantly orchestrated set play by Lever.

Saad, 19 disposals at 81.8%

Brisbane were not very impressive on Friday night. In fact, if Max King and Membrey kick those clutch goals, would probably have lost. The defensive side of their game is quite ordinary. I think we have won our last 11 interstate games. Just sayin.
-
We have lost our dare. Players are second guessing and there is panic creeping in. Where is that Max Gawn who would float around the ground marking everything. Where is that Christian Petracca who took a Grand Final by the scruff of the neck and shook it till it was his. Where is that wave like explosiveness from the centre. Where is that impenetrable wall of defence. Where is that manic forward pressure. That’s what I want to see on the run home. But I suspect I won’t. We have put too much pressure on ourselves by declaring the back to back in front of us at the G. The other contenders can smell the kill, and I reckon Carlton are a big chance, Cripps or not.
-
The tribunal will set a very dangerous precedent if they dismiss this penalty
-
That is a really good analysis and it would explain why we kick to the pocket so often. With regards to #3, what is the answer? Do we need a JVR type to at least contest? It again highlights the loss of TMac.
-
Nice work Rocknroll. The easy answer may be the teams we played in the first 10 rounds, as opposed to the teams we played in rounds 11-20. Maybe the better teams have just improved more than we have (or dare I say it, we may have gone backwards a little?)

From what I saw his intention was to bump Ah Chee. Therefore the act has to be adjudicated as intentional. With the high impact and injury, he will get 2-3 weeks. If the MRO deem it to be unintentional ( the contact), then he will get off. If that happens then there is no doubt there are different sets of rules depending on a players popularity
-
Yes, it is what it is. I am sure the club would have had some sort of match like simulation this weekend for the VFL players. I think he is a chance for Carlton
-
Maybe his persistent injury issues would have more to do with that. Having said that, he would be worth the gamble as a second tall forward. Or maybe even Petty. I don’t think we can bank on TMac, he didn’t sound overly confident when interviewed by Robbo at half time last night
-
Fair enough, you are entitled to your opinion. And if we were beaten in the keys stats I would have agreed with you. But we weren’t.
-
I am going to be quite bullish about this. Collingwood played about as well as they possibly could have. Their ball movement and pressure were outstanding. We lost by 7 points and led for the vast majority of the game. Do you think Collingwood before the game would have said “ let’s give them 24 more forward 50 entries, 95 more possessions, 14 more centre clearances and 24 more contested possessions, she will be right mate!” As Goody said, we left the door open by not converting the dominance in the first half. Something that can be quite easily fixed as we saw just under a year ago. Do you think we would be all hand wringing this morning if in that first half our forwards had the same accuracy and luck that Collingwood did? The players will respond in the next two weeks. Play them again in September? Yes please.
-
I think he knew exactly what he was saying. The club would sanction every media contact the players had, so they would have known about this interview. And possibly what he was about to say. Mind games. Just watch Collingwood lose their focus a little tomorrow.
