  1. Doesn't take long for the hyenas to start moving in.
  2. Beveridge needs counselling. Seriously. The pre-season speech citing Rosa Luxemburg and Guevara was comical - and a bit weird. The Chopper Read mo (and the manner to match) needs to go. He's going to find this hard to live down. Every presser from now on will be tense.

Three in the top 5? In such a ruthlessly competitive competition? That's extraordinary. So is 7 in the top 50. Let's not whinge about it. Totally subjective, after all.

Petracca is a superb example of a certain kind of player. Oliver is unique. Anyway, comparisons are odious. We're bloody lucky to have them both.

Fantastic player. Played injured last year.

Who cares? These lists are a waste of time. Footy journos trying to earn their keep.
  7. Dunno, I quite like Hodge. Bit rough around the edges but honest and direct.
  8. Agree, one of the highlights of the game for me. (Though there were numerous.)
  9. Cameron has the habit of doing that, to many players. Bit hard on Smith. Obviously the club sees a lot in Smith, and they see more of him than we do. He's bound to feature in the team this year. I just wouldn't replace a fit and keen Hibberd for him.
  10. Hibberd is a top-class player. An AA. If he's in good shape - as he appears to be - I wouldn't be easing him in to the seconds.
  11. Perhaps its the new hair-do, but Harmes looks much more physically imposing than formerly.

If Jackson becomes the equal of Stynes we have a champion.

    Flower. Easily.
  14. That's well put re Chandler. And very true. He's not far away. Will play this year at some stage. He's got the appetite.
  15. Superstar of the team in the second half of the 1950s. Champion player. Surprised there doesn't appear to be anything on the club web site, as yet.
  16. Think I missed the mum. Where was that? (And yes, the outstanding halfback in the game, bar none.)
  17. Yeah, who cares? Vastly better player than Rich - and now a premiership player. Same goes for Kelly. For us, I much prefer Salem.. Tough too - touch of mongrel to go with the skills.
  18. ANB...underrated.
  19. Your best effort.
  20. Indeed he was. Got heaps of the ball. The answer to the question is Febey. In 3 years time I hope it is Tomlinson.
  21. Umm. Where to begin? The guy has just played one of the all-time great GF games - replete with superlative kicks, from the penetrating to the precise - and people are debating the dodgy height of his ball drop (so to speak). You couldn't invent it.
  22. Anyone who takes Sparrow to task for that devastating penultimate goal in the 3rd quarter in the GF (and that deep but deadly accurate kick to Brown at the beginning of the 4th) has some serious negativity issues. On the other hand, his general point that we shouldn't automatically accept all our recruiting selections as strokes of genius is valid. Too early to make a call on Rosman. But recruiting Howes suggests we think that Rosman - and certainly Baker - may not have long term futures. But I like Rosman - he desperately needs to play a bit more, as you suggest. The good thing is this - there will be keen competition at the club next year.
  23. Good post!
  24. You mean no. 2 to be put in mothballs for a while, not 'retired'? Will Woewodin junior get his old man's 22?
