Agreed on Japanese whiskies. Superb. Moreover Japan is a remarkable place to buy whisky. You can get a bottle of excellent Scotch ....Ardbeg etc...from a Seven Eleven for half what they cost here, even less. It's ridiculously cheap.

Just saw the post game pressers. Lyon is sarcastic and arrogant and says some curious things. But at least he's interesting. Goodwin? Win or lose, he's dull, bland and repetitive. Pointless listening.

Agree Bowey is in our best team. But also agree with the point that we're close to full strength and yet are clearly deficient. Put simply, we lack a bit of brilliance. Too many dour and or limited players who regularly disappoint. Of the younger players, only Rivers has come on. Pickett has been very disappointing. Sparrow is a trier. But he is now is his 4th or 5th season and is clearly never going to be a top liner. One could go on. We're a good team on our day. But a premiership candidate? Hard to see that at the moment. As someone else has said, we keep losing the same way.

Yes Goodwin isn't recognised as a top coach. Possibly the suspicion is that he isn't capitalising on the talent at his disposal. (Personally I disagree with this...we have talent unevenly spread, and rather too many B graders.) But maybe the real reason is his public profile. He is so bland and talks in cliches. Never says anything slightly risky. Like his coaching come to think of it.

Over half way into the season and clearly the coaching panel is clueless as to how to proceed...albeit limited by injuries and mediocre personnel.

You actually look forward to Goodwins press conferences? I've defended his coaching. But his public utterances are utterly predictable and as dreary as bat [censored].

Query the 'great list' we are supposed to have. It's a myth. Clear strengths...including a stack of half back flankers. But we lack skilled athletic types, and goalkickers. Several good citizens who occasionally get found out. We know who they are.

Jack Viney? Some of the pundits around here wanted him gone 3 or 4 years ago. Mistake.

And Ross Dillon. But have a lot of time for JVR. Intelligent young man. Big future.

Port Adelaide? Nup. Two, maybe three, chances - Collingwood, then Melbourne, then Brisbane. Injuries (and the ability to play with pain) the decider.

He's never had much midfield time with the senior team.
