Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
Perhaps a first rounder for Petracca? Seriously? Say it again...he's still in our best 3 players, coming off a shocking injury, plenty of top football left. There seems to be a desire by some here to turn Melbourne into North. Toss away your top end talent for the lottery of the draft. We've lost 6 games this year by under 2 goals. There's a need to consolidate, add and develop. Not commit suicide. FFS. ps and yes, a new coach. Time is up, sadly.

That would almost certainly happen.

Now there's an idea.

PREGAME: Rd 21 vs West Coast
I can tell you we won't attract a quality coach should Goodwin go, if we get rid if Petracca.

Time to start a rebuild?
I have seen your side in 3 to 4 years and now I really am depressed. Think the desperation to unload Petracca is really crazy. Still in our top 3 players.

Have tried to resist the get rid of Goodwin thing. But like you I've had enough. Saw him on Footy Classified during the week and couldn't believe the spin, even from him. Some if it was just absurd. What struck me is how much he talked about himself, and how he loves the job, the challenge, blah blah blah. I think he thinks he owns the job. The team needs a refresh...urgently. Other than Pickett the team is as dull as dishwater. Like the coach. Sad but there you are.- PREGAME: Rd 19 vs Carlton
Howes should be in the team. Best on ground last night and too good for the vfl. Culley was good too. Wouldn't be surprised if they slot him in for Sparrow.- Can we talk about Kolt?
Agree.- My 3 word player analysis V Crows
Lever is 'cooked'? [censored]. (Can we put a moratorium on that stupid expression?) Played pretty well today. Had injury interruptions, and he' old. He'd be snapped up immediately by another team.- Time to go Goody?
This the team we very nearly beat just a few weeks ago?- Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
Petracca and Oliver aren't responsible for our position ... though they propped us up for years, along with Gawn. It's the several other players who haven't lifted, have stagnated or gone backwards. That, plus we have 3 or 4 players who aren't much good. The sledge Petracca/Oliver brigade are wrong- headed.- Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
Petracca and Oliver to be replaced by Sparrow and Tholstup? Is this an attempt at comedy? Our problem is not Petracca and Oliver, despite their relatively modest output (perfectly explicable in CPa case), but because we have some very mediocre players who wouldn't get a game in a good side. One is Sparrow. Another is Tholstrup, though let's hold off on wiping him for another year. Jefferson? Clearly nowhere near it. Not up to it. Margins are fine in this caper. Replace those 3 with effective contributors and we'rea different side.- My 3 word player analysis V Crows
Correct. He's not good enough. Never was and never weil be.- VOTES: Rd 17 vs Adelaide
Excellent summary.- Time to go Goody?
Yes that would be nice. I presume this is what Goodwin means when he says 'we're in an outcome based sport'...the latest corporate cliche he has picked up in some seminar or other. I've defended him for 2 years with family and friends. But enough. The real worry is that so many players have either stagnated or done backwards...Windsor, Van Rooyen etc. Can't think of a more obvious sporting case where a coaching cleanout is required.- PREGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood
Agree. If he plays. Anyway Howes is clearly there for cover. Glad he is in. Was unlucky to be dropped in the first place and has been outstanding in the VFL...REALLY good, as the Casey coach would say (he uses the word ad nauseam).- CLARRY IS NOT A TAGGER
I didn't know there was a veto on plain speech. But that's beside the point. Boasting about the number of taggers available to the team seems to me a depressing way of thinking. Especially afer a six goal loss...and when you've only managed a pitiful 7 goals yourself.- CLARRY IS NOT A TAGGER
Have tried to tolerate Goodwin's press conference cliches and absurdities. 'From an inefficiency perspective' was a new one this week. Can someone teach the bloke to talk directly? But, re Oliver tagging, him proudly announcing that we have now have not one, but TWO taggers, in the team did my head in. Desolation Row. How about a couple of goalkickers? His press conferences are a mirror of the way the team plays.- PREGAME: Rd 08 vs West Coast
Spot on- New coach prospects
The censored word begins with w and ends with r. Next week's episode will see him by the fire (with another large red) reading from 'Alice in Wonderland'. Large Print Edition.- New coach prospects
I've always struggled with the idea that Goodwin actually isn't very bright. Probably unfair. And ultimately you have to blame the players for today's fiasco. But really...I saw that little video Goodwin had up on the MFC web site during the week. Having a nice red while boiling a pot of water for a spag bol and mouthing comforting inanities about the team. (Sweeping shot of the cosy kitchen included.) And it filled me with total despair. FFS! Can we get a serious coach please, and not a lifestyle/pissweak new age [censored]? - Brad Greens letter to members
