WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
Deemania since 56 replied to Dee tention's topic in Melbourne Demons
No need for an elaboration from McQueen, he's cool enough to know that Essendrug ain't got no chance, baby. -
I'd like to think that TMac is going to another club ... he is now injury-prone, often hampered and has given his best up until the middle of this year. As for his brother, he should have been traded years ago - not even a depth player in reality. Best wishes to Tom if he is to move on somewhere else.

Must agree with this assessment (and unfair misuse thereof) of Hunt. Got the talents for forward entries and penetrating kicks further forward; a great kick for goal that with specific practice and opportunity, could well be a dead-eye [censored]. Competitively fast and accelerates even more. Rednblue diehard, for mine.

These are good suggestions. Tracca is the ideal, dynamic mid-forward and should be given the same liberties of onfield location that D Martin is granted, suiting himself where and when he is forward or returns to the midfield. We must make better use of Brayshaw, Harmes and Oliver's kicking skills, and run into the forward zones. Viney could be a nightmare for opposition sides as a dedicated deep forward utility/forward pressure specialist. With Brown coming into full fwd, I can imagine the work Viney might perform providing clearances of opponents' intentions during leads and gallops to receive. -
Nah, Gus is a very classy act at the rear end of the opportunity stick - I'd put him forward flanking/utility unzoned as he is a great shot at goal and does require some moving space to see ball, get ball, split the big sticks. I really mean it - one of our best when properly used, moving forward and deep as possible.

...and Brown!!!! Awesome, taking the load of Fritta and the Melk to make some unhindered moves....

Ever since he got cleaned up and out-played by our own Bernie Vince!

Absolutely, and it will bring out more run-time and evasiveness from Melksham - and even forward-located Tracca who can kick 'em, too. Fritta will benefit on the flanks as he is a ball-getter, so let's hope his kicking practices evolve into scoring accuracy from such influences. Overall, the game plans must be ready and personnel-equipped far more strongly, as well. -
Recognise the poise and balance in these still shots. Augers well if he is interested in the Mighty Demons in ten or so years time. The only thing more important than family is the MFC Family! He'd get a wonderful reception and if he was half as good as his Dad, we'd be on a winner.

We literally have a 'ton' of small/mediums with talents. We really do not have a noted converter. Brown is an answer - he has good hands, gets frees, bustles well (shoulder strength is very good, but weak arms), kicks 'em long, short and at acute angles. Straight kick despite the weather conditions. Good muscle support from other taller forwards and resting rucks. Brown leads well to the ball, to the 'get it in there zone' and has some ability to avoid defenders on his way to a delivery. We do not need more feeders from the midfield - their job will be to hit targets on the move and with some tandem prongs up there, better coaching and plans, we have the best in the League across the midfield (Gawn, Clarry, Tracca, Brayshaw, Viney, et al). With Brown, our options would appear to be diversified and more reliable. Go hard for him! Box seat ain't good enough without his signature at the end. As a random speculation in the presence of the Angels, if we got Jesse back (albeit unlikely), it is a great tandem, mobile freaking forward line. -
Rennick may be useful for a new MFC residence?

Jesse Hogan on the way out at Freo?
Deemania since 56 replied to Bizzell Blitz's topic in Melbourne Demons
The Cats would be interested in him, at a cut rate price or not. Betcha they are thinking of his deployment in their future game plans. His run and tank are what they need as a distraction from set position ball receivers. -

I could talk myself into that scenario being the way to go, as well. We have plenty of rotatable smalls/mediums; we have few mobile and marking big guys - suits my psyche for several tandemed zone attack forwards rather than key position forwards. -
The joke is as old as the hills. What you want to see about the Cats is not in their books, that are sterile and clean. What occurs under the table will never be found and disappears like clockwork, keeping all faces smiling.

The evidence is before us. We have recruited well in the past two years (in particular) and player frustrations with our meagre but corresponding results have only stimulated some players to 'lift their game' (Tracca is a prime example of this). Our player development, in particular, is generally disappointing across the board; given improved coaching focus and capabilities, our player development could be further enhanced for 2020 and beyond. After all, this is the premier state of the game (the AFL seniors competition) so as members, fans, spectators and idol worshippers, we have somewhat of a right to expect improvements across the football department and to so comment if these expectations are not achieved, despite a great longevity in our loyalty and support to/of the Club. As we sit competing in such a premier league level, we appear to have not appointed a coaching panel and its diversification, its breadth, and its inspirational strategies and leadership to warrant or extend such a series of responsibilities. Resolute patience with the coaching mantras have not produced the results anticipated or achieved.

Improved coaching ranks, as you have suggested, are vital to our success. IMO, we have the talent detonators, not the inspiration and the determined courage to win every ball on our terms. Fitness first, then skills, skills, skills to build something creative on all lines of the footy field. The coming year means our good recruiting for 2020 is one year more experienced and deeper, and there must be widespread realisations in team thinking that our performances this year were not enough.

Sure was taken to the cleaners by Smith.

Congratulations Tracca on a great season - closing strongly with more to come, no doubt.

Yep, reality bites. -
Would like to know what Yze thinks about the MFC and Smith across the next 2 years, or maybe 3.

This is a good point, as if Brown would not suit our game style (?); the Kangas played the same opposition as we played across the past two years, yet we did not produce a 60+ goal scoring forward in that time. I'd take him if we could be moderately confident we could deliver the ball to him into the spaces in front of goal and kicking range as he is a great, straight kick in anyone's language. Just imagine, we might get it to him 40-50 times a season - it may not be 60+ goals a season but who would not be happy with 35-40 six--pointers from one player? Might teach the Weed what to do if we are retentive enough to keep him. Then again, we might just concentrate on Brown's existing skillset and develop his body for improved strength. -

Pretty close to what should be happening more often, R&BR. -
Startling to realise, Vagg, that we have been supporting the Dees for so long - and Hassa was a fantastic player, he held a special place in so many of our teams - the good teams and the weaker teams. It does not seem like he retired as a player so long ago - such was his contribution to the MFC, eternally stamped in our minds.

Formidable, such a combination. Now for the coach to bring out their teamwork, and delivery. It is not that big a step. Inner congestion is the one thing that prevents a premiership performance.
