  1. Like some of this - TMac on a wing might suit his running stamina, but he does telegraph his disposals too obviously. Pop Harmes to the FPkt to provide a double-sided prong on leads, with Fritta; then with Jackson, to HFFlk in a utility, mobile role. Petty may be good if fit at CHB; if not, Tomlinson is adaptable.
  2. Quality - structure - logic - high potential.
  3. It will be difficult to keep Williams away from Rosman - such is his (R's) potential upside and existing skills set. His development mentors must be hovering, already. Considering the Ooze is going to be able to stick his beak in as well, signs are such that we are going to have a really excellent utility and interceptor capable at both halves of the footy field. A great pick-up.
  4. Not a surprise, at all. We all wish him well if footy is his pulse but most also realise that at the pointy end he is not as talented nor as imposing as is required. He played. He played repeatedly and managed four years at the hardest leather ball. That is an achievement few footballers experience. Best wishes, but it is time to move into a lower grade/standard, play more golf, work the farm.
  5. Both have shown on these reels that they pass very well up to 50m - particularly by foot - and take accurate set shots on the run up to 50m as well; these latter indicators suggest rather strongly that the both could take static set shots at goal from 60m out with above-average accuracy. As for front-and-centre, leading to receive the ball and pick-up / delivery, both impress and so do with speed and awareness. Jolly good recruiting stuff for senior, faster-paced footy.
  6. Perfect replacement for OMac at CHB!!!! Hungry for the ball, as well.
  7. Agreed. Both Chocko and Ooze have the runs on the board from respective past experience - this is a win for the MFC - that will make negation from Goodwin next to impossible. He does not ask for advice from his coaching peers, it seems; neither does he seem reactive to salient reasoning from all around him, including fans and members. It's an in-built succession plan to open Goodwin's eyes and thinking processes for the better. It might also act as a gate opener so he can find his way back to Adelaide, sooner than expected.
  8. Agreed about life-support for Goodwin but we all know under the surface that he just is not the Coach we need. These two appointments (Ooze and Chocko) - and the duality of skills and experience in such a role are critical to improving our players and game outcomes. Absolutely delighted that this will take place in 2021.
  9. Overdue, so far overdue that as members and supporters, we must feel a little cheated to have sat in the wings of development with so many young'uns raring to go - and now, so many medium-termers so underdeveloped from the recent past - and so many longer-term players left (for what appears to be season after season) to absorb skills and tactics by game-time osmotic experience, good or bad. Never complete. Wonderful news and a turn-around for the better - we have the personnel and the adaptability, at last.
  10. Bludd-oath! Like his dad, he's a small bloke but when he matures, there ain't going to be any problems on the field - fast, cunning, tricky, clever as hell, talented, perfectly mentored up close with his father, hungry to succeed. Playing at Colts level with his adolescent frame is a credit to him, already. Hark, hark, the watch-dogs bark! If he is nominated for the draft, by hell I would hope we use our highest pick to attain him - now!
  11. I kinda think that the rabbits in the hat are going to be flapping their ears rather energetically for the Mahoney grab - he has been progressively 'nabbing' a team of recruits, producing 'a destination Club' atmosphere in terms of potential. He certainly has been doing his job well, very well overall. The cue card is out. It is time for the retained Goodwin to better oversight player development to match Mahoney's performances.
  12. Yep, he's got that something (even though he is so youthful at the moment) promising so much for future years. He ain't a Rivers at the same time; I guess I see him as a permanent back flanker with drive and running through the midfield with pace and disposal. Whatever, it is all good. Let's hope that development can occur quickly.
  13. Precisely! 'If so, what the hell do we need Goodwin for?'
  14. Adem's handball - once again, leads with the nose (that must be the secret to his vision to read the ball so well in the past).
  15. There will always be a place for an improving Sparrow in the team; he's going to be a 'knock-em-down' backman once he gets physically developed and fit, fit, fit. i like the boy!
  16. Flower was a benchmark of player development; how he got there might well be a mystery with a rather poor player development process at the Club remaining as a testament to his intelligence, Club loyalty and of course, his/these remarkable skills and courage 'for the ball'. We have all heard of players being 'naturals'; Flower was not just one of these. He was an 'exceptional' - one of the very few. He came into the Club raw but within a few weeks, was blossoming in the opportunity and this represented a quantum leap in his footballing prowess. As a recruit, he had astounding skills development; on the reserves and big time fields, these skills combined with his intellect and love of the game to continue to improve, carving a stellar capacity to extract the most that he could from the game with uncanny consistency. Morton, on the other hand, had certain attributes that some of us had seen before - without anything being a full suite of skills being evident. However, he provided some considerable similarities with the great Tulip (and we did not have the impetus and developmental regimen to make the most of these 'early' signs).
  17. I'd just like to see our army of young'uns developed to the hilt, first and foremost. Bring this improving talent to a meaningful game plan and strategies, and we are on our way to the next GF. Adem, it's basically up to you - but another thing I'd like to see is Jordan Lewis assisting you with this Team (forget Goodwin).
  18. Physicality was very similar, yes. Run and use of ball, again, similar but not at Tulip's expertise level. Marking - not nearly as adept at reading the flight as Tulip and the heights he could reach were about the same on a good day. Pace and evasion, free range- finding and evasion, not as strong or sustained as that provided time and again by Flower - but this could have been largely learned given development. Overall, I agree with you (had we had a focus on player development but as we didn't then - and still don't - Morton missed the bus in his time at the Club relative to Flower in a previous era. I do think Morton's attributes and physical similarities to Flower were two factors that may have been put to more confident and sustained use through the coaches. I can see a role for Jackson as a utility that might reflect some of the skills of Robbie, however.
  19. Tough year coming up for the Filth and Essendrug. Good outcome for the rest of the comp.
  20. Just the best player we ever had. Incredible footballer par excellence.
  21. Absolutely correct! This must change for success next season.
  22. Like the profile of this fella, and have heard a little about him across the year. A rather good player '...untried utility potential...' and team distributor. Just a few weight training sessions needed to build the bod and general strengthening alongside team training routines and management.
  23. Interesting statement and another good way of looking at the Weed conundrum. Whilst progress is slow for him, he is worth another round of tolerance at his age, I guess.
  24. The Happy Bus, off to see the Wizard, the wonderful Wizard of Ooze...have faith.
  25. It really is because of Goodwin's failure to develop (so many) players and/or motivate them, assist to absorb 'his' gameplan, provide steady developmental structures that some of us might see a light burning on the horizon now that we know Yze is living over there in red'n'blue Club-land. Let us hope that he is not suppressed in a coaching role; instead, let's hope that his mantra can be carried by our inexperienced ones for the betterment of the Club.
