  1. RJAY, what does that pressure look like? Angry stern looks from the board? A conversation about 'you're under pressure mate?' You don't think they all fire trucking know it? Sorry @rjay its not about you per se (the next bit) The hilarious thing about these ' he's under pressure' comments is the fact that you walk into a job knowing that if you don't perform you're out. You're under pressure from day dot.. it never just appears. The nuance is looking at the bigger picture than W/L/D, and checking your own urgency (as a member of the board/fd or other) with all available data. Now the issue is supporters don't have all the available data. @layzie, this is why I believe they're on the right track We typically want linear improvement. If it doesnt happen, then it's received as a problem. I posted on another thread about 2 hours ago, about 2019 being a write off from injury/preseason perspective) and the fact that there was never any expectation because of that factor to be able to perform optimally. Why supporters expect optimal performance in that context doesn't surprise me, because they don't have data. The other thing as to why Goodwin wont be under pressure due merely to losses (and not blow outs, just losses) is beacause of the demographic of the athletes at the club, particularly the midfield. 2019 was a clusterfork due to injury 2020 is a clusterfork due to Covid and the fact that we have so so so so so so so many players who have not played together (people forget this is so incredibly important...just look at Richmond, Collingwood and WCE) But we lump it altogether and don't pick apart the nuance. Goodwin happens to be at the helm during some unprecedented times (2019 due to injury/rehab) 2020 due to covid with really really young humans who have played fire truck all together. I get that pleases very few of you... because of the yearning, the absolute yearning to see success and a constant upward trajectory. Anyway... that's why ive contributed some coin.
  2. not bad for a jockey.
  3. I'd concur @KLV
  4. This is why I come to this site. Thanks @spalding...ps one of my middle names is Earl
  5. Luckily I am getting tanked before the in laws and kids come over for tea. How unwatchable if football these days...but I still can't avert my eyes. By the way... still no goalless quarters...
  6. How we going with Inside50 stat? That's the one that counts, that's the one that indicates 'potential'.
  7. @Ethan Tremblay, as above.
  8. We're not so bad... if Tim Membrey can jag 3 against the reigning premiers...
  9. I hear what you are saying. We do have a brand, Goodwin has always been about the contested ball, and then building from the outside, as it stands up in finals. We do that pretty damn well most of the time. BUT... we are not two way runners in the midfield... and perhaps this why there is such poor 'disconnection'. Simplistically, it's 'see ball, get ball' (ie: Viney) but there is no nuance to it, and seemingly an inability to check themselves and choose to do something different as things evolve mid game. So, somewhat cynically, I'll say the Goodwin brand will be seen tomorrow - it's whether Geelong exploit the limited desire to do the two way running...
  10. Is that tongue firmly in cheek? What is our brand? Seriously, are there particular words that act as values/drivers?
  11. By that logic... who has played for the dee's under 5ft 5 - (170cm)? Ricky Jackson! Get him in!
  12. Jeez 'Ethan' you're a proactive one in being provocative towards this bloke aren't you. I'd question whether you want to make the thread about yourself? Sure @Satyriconhome is verbose, sure @Satyriconhome backs the club no matter what, sure @Satyriconhome is solid in his opinions, but there is nothing worse than some entity constantly hounding a guy on and on and on and on.
  13. if you show me your's, i'll show you mine
  14. @PaulRB, it's an interesting one... love the dynamic that Rivers brings... and Jet is a great conservative defender, slow out of defence and does a great job of blanketing players. I place more emphasis on that, than Pig (Hibbered) who over the last year and one game has merely slammed the ball on to his foot for 'yardage'. That's a little unfair of course... Where to go with the ageing players eh....
  15. Valid point re: contested mark @dee-tox , it's all true...but what is the alternate? hoping a bloke who has done it historically, can do it again?
  16. For forks sake Pete, what's your esteemed view on who should be in...
  17. Bennell, although existing in 2020, is not for 2020, he is for 2021 onwards. (2020 is a glorified preseason)
  18. Because he played an intraclub match and that was as many minutes as was allocated. People forget his is still 'recovering' and building capacity. A very minor chuckle in the continuing saga that is people's observations on this forum. Sorry @Diamond_Jim, he is potentially one of the biggest game breakers we have...it is ASTUTE rehab practice to do this.
  19. He'll either be a poor man's Sam Mitchell, or a wealthy man's Richie Vandenburg. I think he is comfortably worth persisting with.
  20. great useless stat! twitter that one pal...
  21. So many plot lines! So what's your version of the truth?
  22. And that's pretty much the dichotomy on the forum right there Empathic, nuanced considered opinions vs harden the [censored] up no matter the context.
  23. nice credentials
  24. how do you know these things @whatwhatsaywhat about how he trains?
  25. I was being a little flippant re: the kids line mate
