FFS @jnrmac - I'm not typically in to your histrionics when you post, and your comment on the language I used in my post has raised my ire. I use understated language out of respect and of acknowledgement of the legacy of Clarkson, that might not be your cup of tea, but get your hand off it.

erm , these are just little factoids that at some stage will be broken, either Goodwin, perhaps Hinkley, perhaps Rutten, perhaps Teague... it'll happen. Mind, not a bad legacy at all.
-
why is it easy for WA/SA clubs?
-
Right you are sir.

Oh, I figured as he is a Lorne boy that there is a media 'go home factor' (tm) which is Geelong, you know because, it's their backyard and etc etc yadda yadda yadda....

He isn't a superstar, and nor do the club expect him to be one, he is as some people call it, a role player, or moneyball. What ever language you wish to use, we have the grunt to get the pill, AND we need someone with silk who can deliver the ball into the 50. He will be ONE of those person... More broadly speaking, I feel in these forums, there is a need to move away from looking at high possession counts as the only way to influence the game, when we are discussing the value of a draftee... And, this is simply one mans' opine -
On a side note, I'm not sure which Elliot I would prefer.

Typical Thread on Melbournes capacity to draft +ve viewpoint "Player x would fit well and be a great addition" -ve viewpoint "Yeah but the MFC suck at getting anyone good, and if we do, we always get reamed and pay over the odds AND they are always injured" -vs viewpoint "also, we never get anyone good, just spuds and list cloggers" +ve viewpoint "mmm uh huh" -ve " jason taylor jason taylor jason taylor" -ve "mahoney mahoney mahoney pert pert pert" +ve " so if we get a class player, we pay overs, and if we don't get a class player BUT a role player, that's not good enough? Who do you expect us to draft?" -ve "non response, just indignant rage at poster"

It's the cynic in me - and I cannot help but think that there would be 'club/lockeroom talk' at all clubs on how to evade tests. Look at G.Allen and C Lambert with Whitfield as one example, and yes, it is just one example, but Cousins spoke about his capacity to evade testing and how certain players feel 'targeted' while others have gone years without being tested. 'Lads, we don't care what you do in your own time, its your call, just dont get caught'.

Some very astute observations there @Red and Blue realist

A range of valid points and they don't quite wash for me - I respectfully disagree
-
I agree Rodney, it was simplistic, and reductionist - I was a little rushed to make my point in-between kids drop off etc. Nonetheless that particular point is illustrative of my overall view. For me, Frost is too inconsistent in game, even though he had a far superior and consistent year than any other.
-
The pragmatic question is. What don’t the football department see in him going forward. What are the risks that he brings to play? and what is coachable in his attributes?
-
A point made by @fr_ap on his wonderful thread a little while ago. "Out of players who have played at least 10 games, Frost and OMac are the two who have cost us the most scores as a % of their turnovers. Frost is ranked 12th in the league (1st = a really bad thing), conceding a score 34% of the time he turns it over, resulting in 17 shots at goal (9 goals 8 ) directly from his turnovers. Omac is ranked 15th in the league, conceding a score 33% of the time. " I presume in the AFL world, OMAC has zero currency. Frost does have currency, hence the disparate opinions on this thread. I for one would happily move Frost on, as irrespective of how dynamic he looks when playing, he still makes horrible turnovers that costs momentum, AND he has currency in the AFL world. So, I wish him all the best and good luck to him at Hawthorn, he is a liability wherever he plays.

I've only been on this forum for a couple of years now - and the first week I got on, there was a bloke/lass promoting knowledge of trades/stuff - he/she may have been called The Riddler... this is ACTUALLY what got me hooked to Demonland... and alas at the end, (s)he vanished, and never responded... If you're out there Riddler, come back and finish what you started. -

Fun game Basil = Fawlty, Fawlty Towers = Dean Towers (jokes) Basil = one of many herbs in my garden = Ryan Gardner Basil = you can put it on pizza, pizza is tasty and like a drug, like(s) a drug = Lachie Whitfield? -
It's rather tarragont of you to say that thyme is up on this thread. As Cameron Fry once said. "Don't make me participate in your stupid crap...You make me get out of bed. You make me come over. You make me make a phony phone call to Edward Rooney? The man could squash my nuts into oblivion. And, and, and then, and then, you deliberately hurt my feelings."

Lenny, is that you?

@olisik, can you walk me through your rationale?
