  1. But there are dozens of players we could inconceivably pick up in a trade that could fast-track our progression.
  2. Undoubtedly a good player. There's little coincidence that Brisbane's best year of the last 5 was 2009, and in 2009 Drummond had his personal best year. But he's too injury prone. Age aside, that's enough. If he wasn't as injury prone I'd be happy to go for him, but then if he wasn't as injury prone he wouldn't be in this situation.
  3. Only one of PJ and Newton will play, so you'd think PJ will replace Newton after his crap performance last week. McKenzie and Trengove will also play, which means Warnock, MacDonald and Bail are fighting for the last spot. Warnock won't get it, he was poor last week and there's no need for him this week. I'd like to see both MacDonald and Bail get a game, but I'd prefer it to be Bail.
  4. I would love to do that. I thought games like this had a joining fee, but this sounds good. Certainly to me makes for a much more meaningful set of matches.
  5. Oh please. Steven Armstrong was a premiership player. If that's not enough to quash the argument that any player who wins a Grand Final is a good player, I don't know what is.
  6. Welcome to the debate. You're about 3 months late though... This point was talked about ad nauseum earlier in the year, especially after the Hawthorn loss. It seemed to me, and others, that, whether it was an instruction or just something that was happening during games, the forwards were pushing too far up the ground and weren't providing adequate targets. At times it seemed that this was the idea, in that we would then have our forwards running back towards goal and the kick was designed to go over the top into the space. But that only really worked against sides who played man on man; against Hawthorn in Round 1, they zoned off, and we were destroyed, but against Collingwood in Round 2, they went man on man, which benefited us a lot more. As the season progressed, though, it seemed to me that the forwards began to hold their position a lot more. Rather than pushing the entire forward line up to the wing, we at least were leaving someone (often Green) a lot closer to goal, and to me we played a lot better when this happened.
  7. I'm in the Demonland DT league GF, after winning the prelim by 1 point. Sorry to whoever that was...
  8. Just wait for Dee_tention to make his appearance. Goes into hibernation from December through to September, but once the season ends, he awakens from his slumber to present us thousands of ridiculous trade suggestions.
  9. We're not. And still I wouldn't take him.
  10. Again, Bennell goes before Bail. IMO Bennell's first cab off the rank to be dropped, before Warnock or Newton, and definitely before Bail.
  11. Might as well delist him now then, eh?
  12. Hopefully this is the week where the AFL finally realises the current system is stupid. The system should be that, after the 22 rounds, the best 20 or so marks from the entire season are put up for a vote for MOTY. That way you get the best 20, not the best from each round, which means you get situations like this where one of Jurrah or Goddard's marks won't be in the shortlist despite being better than every other mark up for MOTY. It's pretty simple, really. Of course, this is just MOTY, not the Brownlow. Doesn't actually matter. But it's a fine example of stupidity if you ask me.
  13. So you think that if Fremantle had fielded their best team, they could have beaten Hawthorn? I don't.
  14. We did it last year with Wheatley, Whelan and Robbo, I'm pretty sure we'll do it again this year with Miller and Bell. Just a feeling. Selfless thinking, yes, but with Newton in the team I'd have no problem with Miller coming in (i.e. move Newton out). Apparently Jurrah's also possibly injured (I'm pretty sure the interview he did yesterday was at Victoria House, which would strengthen that idea). If Jurrah has to be withdrawn Miller can have his spot too. I don't mind.
  15. Don't forget Gotch is a Development coach at the MFC, so he's not just the Casey coach putting his 2 cents worth out there.
  16. Not on the senior list, no way. The difference between the two atm is that if PJ stays for next year he'll be on the senior list, but if Newton stays it will be on the rookie list. That, and that alone, is enough to keep Newton on the list over PJ, but that's not enough to keep Newton on the list. It will happen, at Newton's expense. I wouldn't be surprised if Bell gets one too. Bennell goes before Bail. No question about it.
  17. Understand the argument, but disagree with it. Everything you've listed there were things that happened during the game that you've reflected on afterwards and decided that, as a package, made the game a load of nothing. Which is pretty true. But if those had been reversed, and we'd played like we did against Sydney, then you wouldn't be saying this was a nothing game, you'd be saying it's another step in the right direction, another hurdle crossed, and another sign that we'll be a force to reckon with in the future. Ergo, the game would have been important to you. What I'm trying to say is that it seems to me that, now the game's over, the poor performance is being excused by some on the basis that it won't have much of an impact, if any at all, in the future, which I don't think is the right way to approach a performance that was as bad as yesterday's was. It's got nothing to do with the players and their attitudes.
  18. Goddard's leap was phenomenal. Jurrah probably got as high but the footage available makes Goddard's look better.
  19. Why the annoying music? Now that I've seen it, I think Goddard's is better.
  20. You're both going to salute. Nice work.
  21. Hmmm, kinda makes sense, but still sounds to me like a way to excuse our crappiness. So if we'd been smashed by 100, playing like we did in 2008, would that have mattered? FWIW, I don't see this performance having any bearing on 2011. I see it as being a bad game, something I'm really disappointed about, and one that we screwed up big time.
  22. Nuts. Kinda hoping he'd played a good game and would force the FD's hand for next week. Oh well, if it's not to be it's not to be.
  23. Something I liked about Scully: he took 6 running bounces. In a game in which we didn't take many risks and didn't play a lot of freeflowing football, at least Scully was trying.
  24. I'm not talking about what influence it would have had prior to the game (obviously you need to hone your ESP). But I would have thought that after a game which we could and should have won, and in which we played some totally rubbish football for extended periods, you'd care even a little bit. Just because it's Round 21, interstate, against a bottom 8 side, and in a hidden timeslot, doesn't make the game as unimportant as you seem to think it was.
