  1. Well they've also got Trengove in there, so that says it all I'm afraid. Just because the MFC website says it doesn't mean it's true.
  2. Possibly a bit odd to ask this with one game to go but I'm trying to similtaneously inject some positivity by remembering our good performances this year and ask everyone which game was our worst this year. Games like the Round 3 clash with Adelaide and the Geelong and St Kilda games I've left off because I reckon in those we matched expectations and thus they wouldn't feature in discussions for the best/worst games of the year. Given the biggest margin remains the 56 points vs Hawthorn in Round 1, there haven't been the scoreboard smashings of the last 3 years. But there have still been some shockers. The Sydney win was IMO the best performance of the last 5 years. The West Coast game was the worst of the year, closely shading Round 1 I reckon.
  3. Wow. He also took Mark of the Year in 2007. One-off moments of semi-decent football do not mask the rest of the time he spends in the side, which is characterised by a lack of effort and little to no influence. Coupled with the fact that he fails to learn anything between being dropped and recalled and he's gone.
  4. Far too harsh on McDonald. Bartram, Dunn, Morton and Trengove spot on though.
  5. No intensity. None. Comparing a player to PJ does neither player any favours. I'm not sure either will be on our list next year.
  6. Out: Morton, Warnock, Newton, Bennell In: Sylvia, MacDonald, Miller, Tapscott (for some enthusiasm and excitement) Morton was crap and undeserving of his spot. Warnock was destroyed by Schulz, and MacDonald will hopefully be fit. We don't need all of Warnock, Frawley, Rivers, MacDonald and Garland. Newton was, as usual, terrible. Bennell shouldn't have played this week and just doesn't do enough. No influence again. Sylvia and MacDonald pick themselves, Miller looks like he's earned his farewell game (will pinch hit in the ruck I suppose) and Tapscott I really want to see. I wouldn't be surprised to see Bell get a farewell game either, just for fun .
  7. 6 - Bruce 5 - McDonald 4 - Jurrah 3 - Scully 2 - Dunn (based solely on the first half) 1 - Watts Rivers No. He was towelled by Gray.
  8. Too blase Nasher. Yes, it's Round 21 and the season's dead. But that doesn't excuse the attitude of plenty of our players. This was a game that, on form, we should have won. We were pretty good last week against Hawthorn, and had won the three before that. We still suck massively in Adelaide, and when the chips are down too many of our players don't stand up. Don't really get that sentence, but he was crap. Didn't deserve his spot, which was supposedly Bail's prior to the game. Bail was no good today either but there's no way Morton deserved to push him out in the first place. This game should have put to bed any notion of keeping Newton. It's quite unbelievable that it was considered, really. Just goes to show stats can back any POV up. Morton was crap. Soft, bad decision making, cheap possessions in defence when he should be having more influence up the ground by now. Missed a goal from 15 metres out early that would have given us confidence, turned it over too much.
  9. Another goal. Bartram insipid. Flinched. Unlike him, but insipid nonetheless. 17.7.109 8.12.60 So many passengers today it's not funny. Being carried by McDonald (trying his heart out), Jurrah and Bruce. Dunn's hardly gone near it since half time.
  10. Another inside 50 to Port, Warnock's out of position again, gives another free kick away (number 3), Schulz will kick his 5th despite maybe pulling his hammy. 16.6.102 8.11.59
  11. Bennell just 5 dispsoals. Should make way for Sylvia next week IMO. Bail 8. Jamar 4 (0 kicks). Wonna 7. Watts 6. Green 10. Garland 10 (killed by Gray too) Trengove 11 Bartram 12. Newton 12 (just 1 mark)
  12. Green's put in a second consecutive crap game. 10 disposals and just 1 mark. No coincidence we've lost both games. 3/4 time PA 15.6.96 Melb 8.11.59 Edit: Meanwhile totally unrelated, it's not even half time at Etihad, and Brown's got 11 kicks, 3 handpasses, 12 marks and 3 goals 4 behinds. Edit: Make that 4.4. 100 DT points in the first half. 200th game. Nice work. Knights is gone.
  13. 64 more disposals, almost all handpasses. We just don't win when the figures are like that.
  14. Getting slammed on SEN for a lack of intensity and no influence on the game. A decent VFL player but rubbish at AFL.
  15. Jurrah kicks his fourth. He's probably our best player given Dunn's gone missing this quarter. 15.5.95 8.11.59
  16. Green being used as the 7th defender, but Chaplin follows, so we lose our best forward for nothing. Don't like Bailey's predicable decision to add a defender when the chips are down. Primus seems to have done his homework on us.
  17. Yep, that's over-reacting. This game is terrible, goes alongside West Coast and North Melbourne as our worst of the year. The margin could yet be our worst for the year. But we've made so many gains this year, to say one game late, with players out, with a young side, on the road, defines our year, is wrong. Newton finally does something, but misses the goal. 15.5.95 7.11.53
  18. No inside 50s, overusing the handpass due to being pressured by Port, defence is being beaten one-on-one which is Port's method of manning us up. Jamar 3 disposals. Bennell 5 Green 10. Trengove 11. Bartram 12 They're stopping us from zoning off and helping each other out by manning us up and spreading us. Goal again to Schulz. Warnock's been killed. 15.5.95 7.10.52 Crap.
  19. Goal to Stewart. Bad stuff. 14.5.89 7.10.52
  20. Haven't scored in the last 10 minutes, since Jurrah's MOTY. And probably only 1 or 2 inside 50s in that period. It's all Port. Gonna have to hope this is all the wind and we can come home strong but I can't see it happening.
  21. Goal to Hitchcock. This is over now IMO. 13.5.83 7.10.52 One of the rare games this year where our defence is being beaten in most match ups. No midfield pressure either.
  22. Gray is killing us, and kicks another one. 12.5.77 7.10.52 This is almost over, we're really struggling.
  23. It's all Port atm. Can't break through their zone/press. But we're through now. But Bennell just turned it over.
  24. Another goal to Boak. 11.3.69 7.10.52
