This board is starting to lose the plot.

Bottom line is that there is very little chance of Gus, Trac or Viney being moved on during this trade period. You can argue that anyone can be traded for the right price, but the club would expect a Godfather offer for any of these three and unless someone is dumb enough to do it, they won't be going anywhere. Even if they agitate for a move, which I doubt will happen, I can't see the club moving any of these guys on unless clubs pay up big time. I think the club will aim to get the players fit, change up the assistant coaching situation and look to remove more dead wood and add a little more class where we can. Outside of that I can't see us doing a whole lot more for 2020.
-
If he has a ripper year in 2020 then I'll believe that this season was a good learning curve for him in other aspects. Right now it's just a puff piece and nothing more.
-
Great. With a fit list I wouldn't have Scully in our best 22.
-
Scully is one of the least damaging players in the comp. I'll give you O'Meara, but they paid plenty to get him. There is a reason Scully came cheap and it's the same reason as to why Patton will come for the same price.
-
He had a better season than 90% of our list. Absolutely no need to consider trading him. I do agree that, for him to have more midfield time, that he needs to build on his tank and midfield craft a little, but that can be worked on.
-
He debuted due to a decent injury list, and only debuted as a very late inclusion in the side. He can't really be considered depth at this stage, although that could change next year if he improves.
-
I'm not surprised. Reading his scouting report, Jesus was too soft and kind to people. Had no mongrel in him to play AFL. He would lay a tackle and hug them straight after.
-
Yeah I just put Hately in there as he was the first player that came to mind. Obviously we wouldn't get a top line player to go with those picks, but someone with potential who could fill a gap for us would be ideal.
-
Fair enough. Having him off a half back flank would be superb though, and he has one thing we sorely lack - good foot skills. I doubt the Crows trade him but adding someone who can hit regular targets isn't something I'd say no to (for the right price).
-
Let's stay we split our first round with GWS for 11, 13 and a player (Hately, for example). Would you trade 13 for Laird? And end up with Pick 11, Laird (if the Crows did that deal) and Hately to go with Ed Langdon?

There is one stat that stands out to me re: Jack and his importance to our side. In the three finals last year, he averaged: 23 disposals, 6 tackles, 8 clearances, 16 contested possessions and 4 inside fifties a game. When the pressure was on, he rose to the occasion, and that was off the back of an injury interrupted year. He didn't set the world alight this year, but then who did? Not many to be honest. I want blokes in my side that can step up on the big stage, and Jack has shown that he is more than capable of doing that as a leader of our club.
-
Seriously though, look at the ridiculous reasons above. No thought, just looking to cause a bit of trouble. Injuries? The bloke missed one game this year. Causing a rift? Based on nothing but rumour that is lifted from a Facebook page or from some bloke on here with 50 posts. List balance? Who are the other decent inside mids that we have on our list that we can rely on? Oliver and Harmes, and hopefully Gus when he is back in there regularly. Outside of that we don't have much right now. He isn't being traded, nor would it be considered. Some may say that you need to consider all avenues to improve your list, but to me, this isn't one of them. Not even close.
-
How soon before he starts a trade Max Gawn thread? Or maybe he starts a 'Let's get into turning people into zombies like Night of the Living Dead so we can add Norm Smith to our coaching ranks for 2020' thread? No, I've got it.... The 'Alistair Clarkson for assistant coaching role' thread isn't far away.
-
Yeah, stuff Richardson. I would have preferred Clarko or Simpson in his role because, you know, they would be totally interested in that sort of gig instead of full time coaching.

If he had any interest in us, or vice versa, it would probably end up being a relatively similar deal to the one that got us Jordan Lewis.
-
Yes, I should know better, but sometimes I get itchy fingers and can't help myself.
-
We know stats don't tell the whole story, but it's an interesting one all the same. You would like to think that Butler puts more pressure on, but last year ANB laid 118 tackles, and was still able to lay another 50 this year. He isn't a good kick for goal, and we know he is quite error prone at the best of times, but it seems Butler doesn't do much better than him when you just look at the stats. I'd still have Butler over Spargo, Lockhart and C Wagner though.
-
Coulda, woulda, shoulda. There are no guarantees in life. The above might have happened, or we drafted someone else and then May went to play for someone like the Bulldogs after our disastrous season. Then we would be bemoaning the fact we didn't trade for him the previous year.
-
To be fair, we are sensational at having a thread on every and any player that is even a 1% chance of leaving their club, or even a 0% chance of coming to us. Having said that, Whitfield is worth at least a thread this year with the potential trade ideas around pick 2 and the fact he is out of contract next year. He hasn't really given any indication he might sign yet so I guess it's worth the discussion. Will he come over? Highly unlikely, but we can dream after all.
-
If he was available and expressed any interest in coming to us, then we would be stupid not to do it. Even if he hadn't expressed interest in us just yet, I'd be asking the question. However, would the Giants want Pick 2 THAT badly? Probably not. You would hope the club tests the waters a little, but you would think the logical outcome would be their two picks plus a player of some value to get it done. Drafting wisely, and adding someone like Hately to go with Langdon, would be a good start to the off season.
-
I'll do what I want. But, I wasn't trying to have a go. I've just noticed you talk regularly about inside info, and have done around trades, interest in players and so forth. I'm not wrong in saying that you imply many things on here, as you do. We'll see how close to the pin you are as the off season continues. That just comes with the territory.
-
He implies many things on here. We will see how good his info is over the next couple of months.
-
Small forwards - what are our trading and draft options?
Wiseblood replied to Pates's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think he would be gettable... but for what price? He is an upgrade on what we have and he has excellent goal sense. Isn't getting a huge crack at it, as evidenced by him playing VFL, but I'd be interested to see what the Tigers value him at AND if they would be willing to trade him.
