I like it. Don't have to be stuck in the past to appreciate the tradition of the club.

so announced as 2 weeks, add the 250% MFC injury under-estimation rule, which means add another 5 weeks and then add another 1 to 2 weeks in the VFL and we should see Grimesy by around Round 6. On a serious note, he has a solid pre-season under his belt, hopefully can sit out the next 2 games and then have a light run in the NAB Cup Final and be ripe by round 1.
-
Well, that's f$#&ed

How often does an injury start at a couple of weeks, and then keeps blowing out as the weeks roll on. Very frustrating, but it is obviously difficult to accurately predict injury lengths. Would almost rather them give more of a worst case scenario at the start.

Could well be a lovely guy, but he is the only guy on our list that I don't 'like'. Trying to chirp away and niggle opposition players only works when you are doing something of note yourself. Was embarrassing last year when he was going at Paul Chapman, and Brent Harvey before that. At least put your head over the ball and go when it is your turn before you start getting lippy. Needs to find his 2010 form to have any role this year.

Agree with those saying classy midfielders are the priority in terms of holes in our list. A quality small forward would be nice, but is more icing on the cake than a high priority. Personally, I would go for mids in the draft rather than trade for one, as they seem to easier to predict and can usually step in and have an impact within a couple of years. In saying that, will be interesting to see how free agency pans out.

Whoops, just realised I only had 4 wins but selected 5. Have us beating Brisbane, Richmond, Essendon and one of the Bulldogs and St Kilda. Obviously it is very unpredictable at this stage could see us anywhere from 2 wins to 7 wins.

Training - Friday 24th February, 2012 (Gold Coast)

I think it is meant to be a bit better up here tomorrow, but possible late showers. Hope it clears up though because my engagement party is on tomorrow night also (didn't check footy calendar when setting the date and would of been one of my only chance to see Melbourne live this year ). -
Seems a little odd. Perhaps we should take it a step further and put Jack up there to read his own name out and a few blokes he knows can play first hand.
-
Don't think they looked too bad for 1st game of the NAB Cup. They were both competitive and made some mistakes that are to be expected.

I am not as head over heels in love with Gysberts as most on this forum. Needs to work on is disposal, body size, speed, and endurance. I think he will be a serviceable player but not a star that many believe (referring to those listing him as potentially out best player in 3 years time in other thread).
-
Having a look over the last few years, form in the NAB Cup actually is quite indicative of how a team may perform in the season proper, especially the first half of the season. I, and a lot of others, have just passed off some woeful pre-season performances in previous years. This year, while I won't be hysterical if we play poorly and lose, I will be expecting a much more competitive effort throughout the whole pre-season, especially considering enthusiasm surrounding the new coach etc.
-
Probably been gone over in other threads, but if we wanted to use one of our compensation picks this year (which we obviously won't anyway), would we have to have already flagged our intent to use it, or can we make that decision live during the draft based on available players etc.
-
My opinion for what it is worth is he should no longer be. captain, but a 2 year deal seems appropriate.
-
1. Jones - underrated season on demonland and a smoky for captain next year 2. Moloney Next 3 a toss up from a handful of players
-
Pretty certain if we trade this pick to gws it is still used after our 1st rounder, not theirs.
-
We should definitely have a look at Mitch Clark for the right price. Seen by Brisbane as a forward 1st and ruck 2nd, he would fill the obvious need for a stay at home gorilla forward.
-
The constant changes to interpretations and the amount of inconsistent and soft frees have slowly turned me off the sport in general. I used to watch 4 or 5 games a weekend, but lately I find myself channel surfing 10 or 20 minutes in out of frustration.
-
Anyone complaining, suck it up quick and give this guy all our support. Couldn't attract clarkson, malthouse etc, other tried coaches not up to it, so got best available untried so I'm happy. Everyone speaks of him very highly.
-
That is pretty much how I feel. Would like to see a Neil Craig type appointed to a Senior Assistant type of role also.
-
That is very true, but it could be conceivable that someone is in the know regarding lyon and roos as they remain close friends. Most likely full of it though.
-
That has completely blindsided me, I did not see that coming in any way. Freo were always a side I had no particular feeling about, but I would love to see them fall flat on their arse after this. Would love to see Harvey land the Saints job and do a job on Freo next season.

What does David Parkin have against the MFC?
Forest Demon replied to P-man's topic in Melbourne Demons
Another case of people on this site thinking people in the media or at AFL house have personal agendas against the MFC. Why should he talk us up? People in the media will continue to talk up the clubs near the top of the ladder and get stuck into those consistently outside the 8. -
We shouldn't just go after an experienced coach for the sake of it. If we can't land a big fish like Malthouse, than I am happy for a Burns/Craig combo. I'm not keen on Eade, Williams etc.

Not sure whether rightly or wrongly, but Caroline Wilson obviously has a personal problem with Schwab. Tries to lay the boot in every chance she gets, it has become boring and predictable.
