  1. Nigel ? Both from Chiltern, but Matthew played for the Blues and Saints.
  2. We see it differently I suppose. The worst case I saw was against Aaron Davey when he basically landed on his head - and yes no free kick on that day. At least it puts players on notice whether it was Tiggy Touchwood or not.
  3. I thought it was, regardless of whether the player is on the ground or in the air, if you take someone's legs out and cause them to land on their back then it's tunnelling. The ump thought so too, (you could clearly hear him explain to Gibson that it was a dangerous action) and it was one of the few free kicks they gave us in front of goals so I was happy with the result
  4. Indeed- I know its a different sport, but in basketball it is a very serious offence.
  5. When was the last time we beat the reigning premiers? Was it in 1988 when we beat Carlton in the PF?
  6. disagree - the umpire got it right. Tunnelling is a very dangerous action and could result in a very serious injury it should be a free kick.
  7. Well done you! Enjoy mate as only those of us from far flung realms can appreciate!!!
  8. I think it evens itself out Redleg. They did well out of getting guys like Burgoyne, Gunston, Lake and Frawley, but watching today's game I think they missed on O'Rourke and if Sicily and O'Brien are stars in the making then Juice Newton should make a comeback. I'm not surprised that of the names mentioned it's Mitchell, Prestia and O/Meara. I think all have huge question marks over them and while they are on the market all come with question marks in relation to their value (compared to a Dangerfield type deal). In essence unless they can attract free agents (like the first group of players above) the Hawks are still constrained by what they can offer in terms of draft picks (both actual and perceived - i.e.. future).
  9. Agree - also different personalities - I think Trac is enjoying being a Dee!
  10. Yeah- nah! She just suffered through me screaming at the tele! Her last name is the same as the opposition today and she's always had a soft spot for the poo and the wee, but I knew she was a true Demon today because she wanted someone to kill Cyril!
  11. My better-half who is a late convert to the game made mention today how we (MFC) seem to get a) a hard deal from the umps and b) are victims of barracking by commentators like Derwayne who want us to lose!
  12. I have no problem with the Rioli shirtfront- that's what footy is about. I think people are missing the bit where Oliver got up and played his part in a winning side. Footy is a contact sport, I would hope that if our players were in the same situation every single one would take that option to smash the opposition player. Without Poppy and Cyril the Hawks game plan is stuffed. No wonder they are hunting Tom Mitchell.
  13. Leigh Matthews or Brendon Gale would have to go first if either of those two were to get the chop this year.
  14. Kent would be a much more damaging footballer if he could learn to pick up the ball at pace, I loose count of how many times he overruns the ball. Overall I think the point was well made that we've had two long trips in the last three weeks and for a young side we had heavy legs. I know WA teams do this routinely, but I thought that not only the skills but the decision making was a result of tiredness. We were off today. Worst game I have seen Bernie play ever.
  15. I"m staggered people are talking about this spud. Firstly because the word is he's off to Carlton and secondly he's the sort of player that Prenders would have recruited. Some ability amply supplemented by 'faux' heroics.
  16. Continue to play the kids and get games into them. I'd like to see Clarrie come in and I think the FD will persist with O Mac for his development.
  17. I agree - certainly Adam Simpson thought they didn't 'deserve' to win. We had the dubious honour of leading all the stats comfortably except the only one that matters - though the way some on here are reacting you'd think that for the youngest and least experienced list in the comp we are no hope of improving going forward.
  18. One of mine too, sitting in the Ainslie footy club it was the first final I'd ever seen us play in and to win so comprehensively with Robbie was just beautiful, that mark by Sean Wight (my other demon hero) over Shaun Smith - Then to follow it up the next week with a similar performance against the Swans - it really did feel like a footy fairy tale was going to come true.
  19. Sign on with .... Essendon (mehhh) or us ( double mehhhh)?
  20. Pretty strong side - only regular senior player missing is Lumumba. Will Grimey play in the BP? Hopefully our seconds can make amends against the Saints seconds this weekend.
  21. Yes, but is it a workable game plan going forward - i.e. do you think they'll be winning finals games with that plan in the next couple of years?
  22. yes and two of their better performers have been Roo and Joey. Will be so happy when these two retire.
