  1. I was surprised by how good he was this year. Hopefully he continues the upward trend.
  2. Wish him all the best and hope he has a great career in the Red and Blue. Having seen all of about 2 minutes of highlights, obviously haven't seen enough of him to say what he will or will not be. He did appear to be decidedly an outside player - which is ok, to a degree.
  3. I think we got the extra game because Richmond canned theirs. I wonder what BT would say ... oh ...
  4. The way I see it - we've essentially used the trade period as a total to get Hogan for pick 13 and 26 for Dawes. I think the whole way along we knew we needed a pick higher than 26 to get the Dawes deal done, so we happily traded 3 and 13 for Hogan and Dawes - with 3 essentially being the pick we would've had to burn on Viney. 3, 4, 13 and 26 has turned into Viney, 4, Hogan, Dawes and Barry. Viney and 4 were a given already. The way he's rated, pick 13 looks a steal for Hogan and I don't think we'd have nabbed Dawes if we only had pick 26/27 to offer. Not sure about Barry, obviously, but we've basically used picks 13 and 26 for Hogan, Dawes and Barry. I think we've done well - but it'll be up to the coaches and development to make it a successful period. Yep - anything that gets MacDonald out of the backline.
  5. Matthew Whelan. So hard at it, so team-oriented, so reliable and consistent when he plays. Deserved to be in our 150 Heroes list.
  6. You are over-rating all 3 players involved in our FA involvement.
  7. He played 4 games (including the 2006 Semi - coming in for an injured Jamar) for 9 disposals and 5 hitouts.
  8. Can you go through the thread and count up how many are for the proposed trade and how many are against it? I think you'd find that most are in favour.
  9. We've been through this, we can't use pick four on Wellingham because he's already gone to West Coast.
  10. Bloody foxtel. Left the room for a moment, came back and the soccer was on - I assumed Detroit had won it and they switched over.
  11. Unless your favourite player was Matty Whelan and you were able to honestly say that he had 2142 impeccable disposals.
  12. Chris Dawes is worth pick 20 to our side IMO and I'd take it if we could get it done.
  13. Those Yankees fans booing A-Rod had better not cheer when he hits a home run.
  14. Gybserts has shown more than Blease?! I reckon I'm as excited for Blease's future as I am of any other MFC player/possible recruit - if not moreso. His pace, dash, confidence, line-breaking ability is an absolute standout and, importantly, he kicks goals. Midfields that kick goals are a very handy ingredient in a successful team.
  15. With the way Neeld wants the club to play, I think you'd want about 3 talented tall forwards. With Hogan 18 months away from debuting, let alone holding down a position necessarily, I don't think our targets have much to do with Clark's injury, if any.
  16. I'll be glad if he didn't play a game next year (obviously not injury related).
  17. I heard this, too. I don't think any offence was meant by rabf.
  18. I never thought a thread like this could get derailed...yet here we are.
  19. Jack Viney spends his Tuesdays teaching old dogs new tricks.
  20. Add to that list Grimes' continued improvement and hopefully (oh dear) an injury-free pre-season for Colin Sylvia. I'd love to see him play next year in the guts with those boys.
  21. I think the MFC did a good job supporting Liam Jurrah. In my eyes, however, in the public sphere we went too far to highlight the uniqueness of his situation and to regard him as such a special case. In no way am I saying that this is the reason that he left, but I simply feel we over-did the media side of his story and didn't treat him the same way we did other players in the public sector. Also, this isn't specifically the doing of the MFC, obviously the media as a whole played a part - but I just feel we fed into it too much. Hopefully this phase of the MFC has past and we focus on letting our football do the talking - not press releases and cutsie jumper presentations.
