  1. thats what worried me in the off season. I agree with most things Bailey has done but signiing Miller for 2 years I thought was a ludicrous mistake, and Roos wanted him at Sydney !! My problem with Miller, as shown yesterday, is his kicking never low and flat. They are all up and under kicks. We had 3 'open' players on the members wing at one stage, so he goes back, takes a few seconds and lobs it high and we lose it. good work again on the members wing, fights to the front, Neitz leads out beautifully, Miller lobs it over his head, from 20 metres. That's the problem, he cannot kick it at this level. why oh why ? If we put him at CHF, how will we beat teams with his slow witted kicking style. Plus we have 3 decent half forwards in Bate, Sylvia, Robbo. Would rather they try the taller blokes at Sandy. Keep Garland, bring in Rivers and drop Miller.
  2. 6- Nathan Jones. Went hard all day 5- Paul Johnson. showed good touch and surprising agility 4- Moloney. hard all daty but got caught a lot. 3- Brock Mclean - terrible first quarter. but came back. Was torn apart by Mitchell though. 2- running out of players - Simon Buckley. only bloke looked like breaking the lines and taking them on. 1- Cale morton - beautiful mover. would like to see him play a few more games as he looks great.
  3. as like Everything Gaddy Lyon says or writes, its hardly illuminating. I love the guy as our favourite son, but he sits on the fence more than a politician. Say SOMETHING Gaddy !!!! Yes we know we are in financial strife, yes you even repeated we are looking to get a permanent summer training home, but can you suggest anything, what road we should take. I give far more credit to someone who takes action and stuffs up. just once i would like Gaddy to have a definite opinion on something.
  4. If they just fine him it will be a joke. This is interesting as it will really test their 'new' philosophy of a new beginning.

    Bruce in

speculation at this stage. After last year, I just want to know they are getting better and ready early on. Doesn't worry me if its round 1,2 or 3 really. We need these blokes to be fully fit and ready to go. Bruce and Wheatley by round 2, and happy to go slowly with Whelan and Bartram. Would hate it if we rushed them in too early. We cannot underestimate how much accountability Whelan and Bartram would give us as good defensive runners, albeit in different roles.
  6. Actually after reading Talking Carlton fans give it to us for bad player behaviour, it will be interesting to see what Carlton's leadership group does. They have an important game against Richmond on Thursday, so will be interesting to see if they suspend him for any matches. Surely he is on his last chance and can't stay in their leadership group. Ohhhh what Judd must be thinking now, and he has to help decide the penalty. Apparently their leadership group are meeting ASAP as he has admitted it to the club.
  7. http://news.theage.com.au/fevola-caught-on...80317-1zyk.html Lets see if Carlton do something about this silly boy.
  8. Hey anyone thought of full back. I get the feeling he looks pretty level headed and could do well in a key defensive post. In fact I would like to see him trialled there at some stage.
  9. Mclean, Carroll and Sylvia keep out of the papers for negative reasons for 22 weeks. Mclean and Sylvia top 5 finishes in the bluey. Carroll becomes a born again christian. ok maybe scrap that last one.
  10. Tell you friend the footballer to wake up and smell the roses. What a complete load of sh1te - he lives in an industry of self absorbed selfish big heads. Is Acker selfish ?? then take away his 3 premierships then. Are Kerr and Cousins selfish ?? take away their premiership and Cousins brownlow then. What about Steve johnson? and he is still doing off field stuff. Take his Norm Smith away. Put it this way, we just have to get these blokes passionate and playing well on the field. I would rather have a beer with Ben Holland as a good bloke, but prefer to have Sylvia on the ground playing for Melbourne. our success will depend on Bailey reversing our big weakness as Sheedy identified, getting the team to play for each other. and I am afraid there are plenty of self absorbed characters who play great team footy. You cannot survive as a player if you don't. what team does this respected player play for ?
  11. Disappointing but love it at the same time. I have been waiting for a new group to come in and act professional and clean up our act. It shows we are dead serious by imposing a suspension of the first match of the year. Every team has got these players and we have to show we are serious. No doubt the only way we will become professional is to have a serious crack down. What do we have to lose ?? seriously. This seems to be the only way to get through to him and make a bloke like Sylvia wake up and treat his role professionally. That just cannot happen, and if he does it again, then let him choose another club because we want passionate professional players.
  12. sometimes wonder if a lot of demon supporters are front runners. when things aren't rocking and rolling along, then just bag everything and everyone you can.
  13. agreed. Only thing I am truelly dissapointed in is how [censored] weak the supporters on this forum are being at present. FFS give the guys some support. We have revamped the place, Bailey has played some youngsters and things aren't going to be turned on like a switch. Fair dinkum some people are just ready to throw stones as soon as things go bad. Blokes who have missed a lot of footy are coming back slowly and we are trying new things. Lets throw out some support there.
  14. Similair to Simon Eishold ?? bite your tongue. The simple fact is he has been hampered by injury and will never be 100 % it looks like. I read that article where he goes through a whole taping process around his pelvic and low abdomin region. The sobering thought is despite his best pre-season he still is not 100 % with his body. I think he is a gun but wonder if he can play a full season without too much restriction.
  15. big difference between us wanting him and cook being very keen to join us. Is that what you are suggesting - Cook wants to join us ? A newpaper report recently suggests otherwise.
  16. "He thought the travelling around from training venue to venue, far and wide, was unacceptable and would be something he works very hard on to fix for next season" I think this was significant part of what he said. Coming in as former Freo coach, he would have a fair idea on what should be standard for a top team. I think Connolly is ideally suited in this role, like Neil Balme is, and given he is happy to be football manager, its a huge plus for us. A Melbourne man through and through. He could hasve commanded other posts but think we got a great deal to have him here. lets hope he can find some interim measure to secure consistent training facilities before we get out proper home base. I am happy if Bruce, Bartram, Whelan and Rivers are starting to play competitive footy. If we can have them up and running in the next month that would be great, whether its round 1 or not I don't care, just as long as they can last the season.
  17. I think its a very good article, and reallys shows we have someone committed to developing youngster at this club, unlike the last 3 years. I hate us losing, but if its giving game to younger players, then I am all for it. I am confident, if fully fit, our midfield will upset quite a few sides this year. Above all else if we can unearth 2 young key position players to 'come of age' it will be enormous for the Dees.
  18. Just on Whelan and I am a huge fan, but if he was to take another year, one has to ask why we are keeping hold of him. It seems forever since he strung some games together, 2 years ? I hate to think of all the players still carrying bad injuries. If Whelan was on the long term injury list, I would be very very dissapointed we could not see that coming. He seems the mystery man of the MFC.
  19. The lack of publicity we get is a huge concern. i think setting up the new training facilities and off field collaborative efforts are proactive and good for us, but we do lack the publicity. The only time I hear Gardner in the press, I usually cringe, like recently saying he spoke to Steven Icke at Carlton, then saying he did not speak to him. Gee Willickas, where is your credibility Paul ??? I am very very dissapointed the football world hardly know we are having a 150th. i don't know the full story but won't be sad if he leaves, just based on results.

  21. really watched Green especially last year. His game against Adelaide was superb, load of possessions and courage all day. but then fell away in subsequent weeks and was intrigued how he goes missing so often. He definitely is not a hard player despite that Adeliade game and seemed out of position at time at half back. it was really hard to put a finger on it, but I came to the conclusion Green above anyone else went missing last year. He was one player i thought in 2000/2001- yep lock him as a fantastic forward or link man around the ground but he cannot seem to string really good games together. At least Bruce can do that and be very dangerous. I too think he should be given a forward pcoket role with licence to roam up field and run his man into the ground. Yze (I cannot believe i am saying this) would be more reliable at half back if need be. I hope it stemmed from the fact we had little down back last year and Green played too often in foreign territory. If we can add one or two consistent flankers/back pockets like Yze, Whelan, even a Pettard it may allow us to free him up a bit. I think it is crunch time as I had him 1st on my list for trade bait above TJ.
  22. Whelan very good, Davey excellent, Mclean very good, White good Sylvia very good. We are not that bad by foot you know. confidence is a wonderful thing. richmond are considered one of the worst but if watched that infamous game last year when they beat us, their foot skills were the best I had seen all year, bar maybe Geelong.
  23. Who cares is we win? We have been waiting so long to have a focus on youth and thats what Bailey is doing. obviously we will have more senior players in each game up to round one but I hope we still have plenty of youth in there. wouldn't you rather see if McNamara or a Buckley can carve out a good game? or a Morton or Aussie? I reckon we need to see my youngster debut this season and like Baileys style. Why not get them out there, like we have anything to lose?
  24. why will he be any better then he was for us? I watched some of the Brissy game and reports back up he was in and out of the game, as per usual. I watched him early go very soft around the wing and handpasses to no-one up the ground but also play well at times. Still will be inconsistent, mark my words. Hope Matthews allows him to kick out.
  25. This is a hope and pray situation. It does seems a long time and hope he gets it right. He is a true 'footballer', something we have lacked at Melbourne. Dissapointing to hear him say its still not 100 %. He does not appear overly optimistic but I guess is just realistic after quite a few years now. I hope he can play 15 to 20 games then I think you will start to see his possession stats go up. wait and see with this one.
